Mods and patch clash?
« on: September 05, 2012, 03:16:26 AM »
Hi.  I'm fairly new to mods.  I've been using two Twallan mods.  Error Trap & Overwatch - I updated with the patch 1.38 and I updated the mods to the 1.38 version as well.  I had three problems.  One was some (not all) characters not able to shop for groceries.  Another problem was with a Sim, his dog and the mailbox.  I also have the garden issue, but oh well.  I can live with that one.

I ended up deleting the mods altogether and that has solved my grocery problem.  But the sim with the dog...The dog brings home gems/ores and I place them on the ground or in the sim's backpack.  The sim puts them in the mailbox and is immediately moved or reset to another location on the lot close to the mailbox.  With the mods I was getting the script error and recorded error messages.  Without them, the character is still moved - I just don't get the messages.  This leads me to believe the problem is not with the mods but with the patch.

Are the mods conflicting with the patch?  I installed the mods 3 times with the same result.  Currently, they are not installed.  I would like to continue to use the two mods I had.  They definitely made a difference for the better.  Has anyone else had problems with this type of conflict.

If you experience a problem with a mod, it is best to report the problem to the creator. In this case, you really ought to post your experiences at the NRaas Wiki. There are many active posters there, and twallan is very active on his wiki. If somebody has experienced this problem, or reported it already, or knows how to fix it, you will find out there.

That said, yes, anything is possible. Sometimes it can take a few updates before twallan irons out the kinks caused by patching. Again, the best way to get a problem with a mod fixed is to report it to the creator. Then you can re-install the mod when it has been updated. If you have a problem without any mod installed, it is a bug introduced by the patch.

thanks so much.  I appreciate it.  I think I'll try to download the mods a bit later.  I'd like to stick with them.  Maybe in the meantime a newer patch will come out and solve some of these issues.  I really am believing this has been caused by the patch since it still exists without the mods.  I'll also look on  the NRaas Wiki.  Thanks for that.
