Your Preferred Custom Music
« on: September 05, 2012, 01:46:51 AM »
I didn’t see a topic on the matter so I thought I’d make one.

Sooo… What kinds of music do you let your Sims listen to on the custom music station?

I personally transition between several different sets, and am currently on Blue October: Foiled for the Last Time. I usually put music from other video games as well.

“You ought to upgrade to Windows 7!”, they said. “It’ll help your games run so much better!”, they said. If I see them again, then they had better know how to stabilize an on-the-fritz copy of The Sims 3 that was working just fine on Windows XP.

Since 'm a big country fan I usually just let them listen to the country station - or the human equivalent. But the simlish music is somehow more catchy.

Metal, rock and punk rock from the mid-90s to early 2000s are so me. So it also tends to be my sims' favourites. Google Prime Circle. They are so awesome... South African band. British: first coming to my mind is Feeder and Blur. Oasis too. American: Green Day, Hoobastank and Linkin Park are big favourites with me. And Red Hot Chilli Peppers. Australia: who can forget The Offspring? Japan: Daiki Kasho (any long-term Gran Turismo fan will know him). And Europe? Never forget Björk or the Cranberries.

Funny this thread pops up! - Since I got my new laptop, I forgot that I'd have to re-add my custom music to my game so this thread has reminded me to do so!

These are the nine songs I'm putting in:

Daudalogn by Sigur Ros
We Are Young by Fun
Go Do by Jonsi
The English version of Saeglopur by Sigur Ros
Shooting Up Sunshine by Reptile Youth
The original Saeglopur by Sigur Ros
Leit At Lifi by Sigur Ros
Sinking Friendships by Jonsi
Young and Dumb by Rangelklods

Before I kept all my files in the same Sims 3 folder (I used to keep them in seperate folders so that I could play my legacy and other files with mods but still keep my dynasties mod-free, now I keep them in the same file and use a mod that disables my mods in the dynasty files) I had all eight songs that I've named my immortals in my dynasty after for the custom music.. But I won't share those, spoilers. ;)

We Are Young by Fun

You know, if you have Showtime, that song on the Simlish Radio, right? ;D

Anyways, I have a slight bit of mix, a lot of Rap, but I will stick with the appropriate titles of course:
-Lady Gaga
-Spice Girls
-Linus and Lucy (the Charlie Brown theme) ;D
-Katy Perry

(Those are the appropriate titles, for now).

I have a few Bee Gees songs, some Earth Wind and Fire, and KC and the Sunshine Band.

Yes, Stayin' Alive leads to plenty of laughs with strutting Imaginary Friends. Plenty.

Most of mine is music from the 50's, 60's and 70's. That's what I grew up listening to and I still love it.

Over a year ago, I put Justin Bieber in my game, simply for my own amusement. I decided to torture poor Gunther Goth, for video purposes, waking up, getting extremely angry over the music I played. I cannot stand Justin Bieber for the record, and yes, that could happen with any station, but I chose to record it with Justin Bieber for my own amusement.  :P I think I should dig it up somewhere.

Poor Gunther.  I once used him for amusement with custom music too coincidentally.  For some reason when Custom Music is playing he's glued to the stereo in my game. He's also funny looking.

When I get more CD's, I plan to let  my genies dance to one of my favorites. What is that you all ask? Open Sesame by Kool and the Gang  8)

Wow, tourture by music. They can’t tell that it’s terrible but that’s a first for me.

I like a mixture and took the best songs off of my computer albums.

Mostly: Nora Jones, Bonnie Riatt, Bob Seger, Bon Jovi, Stan Getz, Lynda Rondstat, BB King and other Blues and Jazz.

I reinstalled onto this computer... two years ago? When I did, though, I had quite the mix:

Some semi-modern stuff such as Disturbed, and Drowning Pool.
Some older stuff like Iron Maiden, Dead Kennedys and Ramones. I found it amusing to have my sim listen to Alexander the Great before I send him or her to Egypt.
Some game music like One Winged Angel and We're Pirates. (Both are from various Final Fantasy volumes, if you're curious.)
Voltaire is a favorite, as well. Especially when I'm making an Evil sim or a law enforcement sim. Because I'm Evil and Goodnight, Demon Slayer just seem to fit.
Then, there's The Devil's Trill as done by Vanessa Mae....
I stuck Thank God I'm A Country Boy in there for the sole benefit of my gardener.
Of course, there was Gackt doing his song Redemption and the Black Mages doing Vamo' Allo Flamenco. (Yes, I am a rabid Final Fantasy fan. Your point? ;) )

So... in short? A very mixed up mix.
A 1920s era house needing heat, AC, new floors, new drywall on the walls and ceilings, new bathroom fixtures, new kitchen cabinets, new water heaters.... The roof is sound, but why didn't I just buy an empty lot?
