Yeah MarianT my fairy is epic at gardening with Green Thumb and Gatherer, will be great when I get the Super Green Thumb LTR too. I cast enough magic to learn bloom now and I've found there are three possible results: most of the time it will advance the plant one growth stage. Occasionally, it will grow weeds instead, and sometimes it will backfire and kill the plant. I'm not sure yet whether the weeds are more common than the complete fail or about the same, but my LTW is to make 100 plants bloom so I'm sure I'll get more data on that. And yes, casting it repeatedly on one plant to get it from planted to mature will get you 3-4 of the 100 (depending if it's a mushroom or normal plant since mushrooms also have mycelium). Also with mushrooms, once you harvest them instead of going back to mature they go back to mycelium and regrow entirely. I haven't seen one die yet but again will see more later.

Rebecca88: I was learning new spells on my fairy pretty regularly so that might be a glitch? Though I have the advantage of being able to stick an aura up and then do something else while it keeps on ticking. I've also got a werewolf in my household now but haven't done much with her yet. The funniest was when she went to eat and she crouched on the chair and started scarfing down her food with her head in the bowl, especially since she also has the Proper trait. (which gives you special interactions with other sims like praising or criticising their manners, makes you wear formal clothes more - sometimes she gets an action "formalise" and just changes clothes - and has more exaggerated mood effects from decorated or dirty surroundings) When she transformed back into human form she had a three hour moodlet with no mood effect that said something like "Edwin feels like she's done something awesome, but can't remember what." The icon is a cute baffled looking werewolf face.

HAHAH!  I thought they looked like the Tardis as well.

I admit when I was placing one on a lot I sat there pressing the randomise button for ages trying to get a TARDIS blue one. Sadly I saw nothing even close to blue so I gave up.

I'm not sure if its the new collection trait or just luck but I was on vacation and the bugs/gems/metals kept respawning crazy fast.  I usually go on vacation with a collection helper and spend time collecting everything until I strip the map clean and then work on other things, and I couldn't keep up with the spawning.  In one case it spawned while I was still standing there!

I noticed this too. In my case I had it particularly with insects on my first lot (recently moved to the witch's cove). I caught a LOT of swallowtail butterflies and rhino beetles, as well as light beetles, ladybirds and a couple of royal purple butterflies. I don't think mine was quite as fast as yours? but there were times when two spawn points on my lot would spawn twice a day so I'd catch four insects total without even leaving home, and I seem to have an rock spawn there as well. It was the empty lot just across from the witch's cove and the normal consignment store so I'm going to keep checking it to see if the spawns stay, and also because some of my mushrooms are still planted there. I only noticed this starting about a week into the game but part of that may have been that I'd been going out fishing and harvesting people's gardens during the day a lot before that. Though for other insect collectors, the elixir consignment store seems to have about six different spawn points. It also has a rock spawn but for me it was sitting between the porch and the hedge where you can't get, haha. Luckily I think it was only an emerald or something.

I've seen both Oberon and Titania Summerdream as zombies. I feel like I remember them having fairy wings but that might just be my imagination because in my head they should be fairies. I also saw Countess whatever-her-name is spawn as a zombie next to my fairy bungalow one night and immediately die, which was a little bizarre. Her ghost is red or orange, can't remember what death that indicates off the top of my head and I'm just typing this up before I crawl into bed. So far I have not had the opportunity from the science lab to restore her ghost, presumably because she wasn't part of my household, though I've kept her tombstone for lols.

Are you aware that there's a Create-a-Style option in The Sims 3? The next time you're in Buy or Build mode you can click the little easel button on the left side of the panel and then click the object you want to recolour, and you can change an item's colour to whatever you want.  :)

Oberon Summerdream came to my lot as a Fairy-Zombie.

When zombies attack on the night of the full moon, the zombies are usually chosen from the pool of townies for your game.  This means that anyone can be turned into a zombie like fairies, witches, vampires, paparazzi, etc.  So while they will sometimes come to you as a combination zombie-whatever.  They are actually just the whatever except for on a full moon.

I'm LOVING the full moon. It's not just zombie attacks! If you have a child Sim look under the bed for monsters, they'll FIND monsters and then become totally terrified and refuse to sleep in that bed. (Well, I THINK this is because of the Full Moon, it might be randomized but this happened to me during a Full Moon - and I did it a couple of times otherwise and did not get that result.) Also, and I'm 100% sure this is because of the Full Moon, there are certain new portraits that change during a Full Moon...it really surprised me the first couple times I noticed!

Ah, Northwest, not Midwest. Well, apparently the Northwest is beautiful! :)

So weird that this EP came after Showtime, which I was really underwhelmed by (most of that content should have been included in Late Night IMO), whereas I think this is going to fast become my favorite EP.

I am loving this expansion!

I am messing about with the Gnome of the Darned trying to see what, if any, effect it has. I have three on my lot and it appears that they do indeed cause ghosts to show up.

At the moment my Sim, Rowena Ravencroft (Witch) is eating waffles with Enza Michaels while Jimmy Vu and Peanut Bahl chat on the porch. Two of the ghosts have gravestones in the town cemetery but I have not found Peanut's anywhere. I am going to add three more to the collection and see if Rowena ends up entertaining six ghosts.

They do change color but I don't know if that has any effect on the type of ghost that shows up. I will have to pay closer attention.

If anyone else has any thoughts or has noticed anything different I would love to know. :)

Regards,
Sarah

Edit: I found Peanut Bahl's urn in the secret room behind the bookcase in the Library of Lore & Vault of Antiquity.

I don't know if I'm doing something wrong, but I've seen only one zombie.  And my alchemist threw a potion and created the other one...  Weird.  Maybe one of the mods I have has deleted them??

@cndneh

The only mod that I know of that is causing problems with zombie spawning is Twallan's Story Progression. Someone told him about it yesterday I believe. Don't know if that is the one you have or not but wanted to let you know in any case. Hope this helps. :)

*I believe it has something to do with Story Progression deleting the homeless which is the pool that the zombies are drawn from. Please correct me if I am wrong about this as I do not want to cause confusion or anything.

Sarah

Edit: I should have said all homeless non-service Sims. Sorry about that.

Ahhh! There's so many little buttons everywhere I'm always missing something. Thanks for the tip! TARDIS yay.

So far, six Gnomes of the Darned, six ghosts showed up to party.  :) They were all from the cemetery. I will have to add one more and see if Peanut Bahl will show up then that will be all the ghosts not in households unless there are more hidden gravestones. It will be interesting to see if more than seven of them will bring the household ghosts over or actually spawn new ones.

So far I'm really enjoying this expansion - a lot more than I thought I would! I was someone who hesitated for a while before buying it, thinking I wouldn't like it after seeing them run down all the different supernaturals (werewolves looked kind of silly). I was incredibly surprised at how much it really brings to the game though. You have no idea how I "hallelujah"ed at the population controls it added, though part of me wished you could make a percentage of it now rather than "on" and "off" because the Zombies are getting a little tiresome (popping up day and night on various lots and such, which may be a glitch) and I would like to tone them down a little because they are still a fun aspect to play.

I've only tried messing around with Witches; it's a lot of work but it's really rewarding to me. I'm really interested to figure out the answers to some of the questions asked about the genetics of supernaturals and where they apply, but there is so much to explore I'm not sure where to begin.

Did anyone else have the awkward jolt of seeing the Twilight family placed in Moonlight Falls? The Swain family made me chuckle a little though I'm not a fan of the series I must say Sims is pulling a great stunt to pull more people into it.  :D

Of course... that totally makes sense, I sort of thought that but wasn't sure. Thanks!

Two potentially stupid questions:

1) is there a way to make Bonehilda automatically dismiss herself? As it is when she's finished cleaning she keeps getting drinks of juice and spilling them all over the floor, which was funny once. Following her around to catch her when she's done and find a sim free to dismiss her takes at least half the point out of *having* a maid.

2) werewolf hunting. So far Edwin has done it on her own once (but was foiled by not being able to walk where she wanted to) but I haven't figured out how to tell her to do it. I thought I'd have to practice werewolfy... things... but if that was the case would she be able to do it by herself? I don't know. Help my novice werewolf, she is vulnerable and needy and has no one to mentor her in the ways of the furry ones.

I don't know about Bonehilda - but I do know that for your werewolf needs to be in werewolf form and then just click the ground anywhere. It should say Hunt Solo and she'll run off sniffing the ground a bunch.  This will also help with her werewolf hidden skill so she'll learn more werewolfy things like how to add to her pack.

You can dismiss Bonehilda by clicking on her closet-thing. Your sim will snap their fingers, and she'll toddle off to the closet. I've had to do that pretty often in my 5-toddler household because she won't let the poor nooboos sleep. She's constantly picking them up for a snuggle.
