Chapter Seven -- Island Life

The first thing that Sedna did when she arrived on Isla Paradiso was to change her clothing. The jacket and slacks that had been perfect for a chilly day in Lucky Palms were just too heavy and constricting for the warm breezes of the island.

The second thing she did was to insist that Tyler do something about his hair. She didn't care what style he chose, but she wanted to be able to see both of his eyes.

The house that she and Tyler moved into was small, but a little less prone to power outages than the first house they had looked at.

There were only four rooms in total -- two bedrooms with all-in-one baths upstairs...

...and a living room and kitchen downstairs.

But there was plenty of deck space, and the view from the back deck was gorgeous.

After they explored the house and tested the new dream pod bed upstairs,

Tyler announced that he intended to change his job. They didn't need two cooks in the family, and since they were living in Isla Paradiso, he wanted to realize his dream of becoming a scuba diver. He already had the skill (Sedna didn't know how he'd acquired it, living in the desert).

He went down to city hall to register as a self-employed diver.

While he was there, Tyler picked up his first job, to find four messages in bottles. He immediately went to explore one of the dive sites, where he found the ruins of an ancient temple.

While he was gone, Sedna bought a toy-making machine and began working on a baby mat. She didn't know whether she was pregnant yet, but she wanted to make sure the next Cottoneye would have everything. When Tyler returned that evening, she told him that they had better try for baby again, just to make sure.

Later, they dreamed together of what the new addition to the family would be like. There was a slight discrepancy in their dreams, as Sedna discovered the next morning. But Tyler assured her that it really didn't matter what the baby was like.

It wasn't long before Sedna discovered that she was pregnant.

And a few days after that, she went into labor.

She named the new Cottoneye Lovec, which was Polish for hunter.

He seemed to like his baby mat very much.

Maybe a little too much. It looked as if he would become a couch potato and, given his enjoyment of music, a virtuoso.

Looks like they've settled in nicely, that was a really sweet touch calling him the Polish for Hunter, whenever I see Hunter around Riverview I think of this story, although last time I saw him he was a homeless fairy magician, story progression is strange sometimes  ::)

I cannot imagine Hunter as a fairy, and I'd be hesitant to volunteer for one of his tricks if he was a magician. All the heirs' names have something to do with hunting, if not the word translated in a different language, then a god or goddess of the hunt.

Chapter Eight -- Diving and a Happy Toddler

Tyler has been making progress as a diver. He found a hidden island, and on the island was a message in a bottle.

He has also explored a hidden cave...

...and found a treasure chest.

But then he had to hurry home for Lovec's birthday.

Lovec soon put on different clothes.

He had something other than cake for lunch.

Sedna began teaching him how to walk.

Lovec then found a drum to play, which was something he really enjoyed.

And then it was bedtime. Outside, over the islands, a full moon rose.

LOVEC

Chapter One -- Toyland

Now that I can talk, I'm ready to start telling my story. This is my Dad. He's a diver and he finds cool stuff in the ocean.

This is my Mom. She makes cool toys. She made me a kite.

She also made me a baby sister.

For a while, Mom was the only one who got to play with the kite.

She also was the only one who could play with my baby sister, Bliss.

I didn't mind because I had my drum.

One day Bliss got old enough to play with.

Sometimes we both play with our imaginary friends.

Sometimes Bliss likes to play by herself.

The best thing is when we play together.

Okay, bye-bye!

I somehow seem to have missed several updates - which at least meant a good long read, catching up  :).  Congratulations on the birth of generation eight (?)  Not long to go now...

hazelnut, yes, Lovec is generation 8.
Turoskel -- I hadn't thought of it that way, but sure, Bliss is a Cabbage Patch doll.  :)

Chapter Two -- Aliens and Zombies

After a very long sojourn as a toddler, I finally became old enough to bid farewell to bottles and potty chairs.

With all the new energy in my brain, my hair went wild. I believe a similar phenomenon happened to Albert Einstein. (Note -- these are my formal and athletic outfits, neither of which I am likely to appear in.)

I have been a kindly older brother, condescending occasionally to play peek-a-boo with my still-toddler sister, Bliss.

Despite my attention, she seems to prefer splashing in the ocean with our paternal parent, even if it results in her shoes getting wet.

Our paternal parent has had much experience in the ocean, exploring caves and collecting things like bottles with messages in them and rare fish. He has acquired two eels for me to use to satisfy a future black op, for which I am duly grateful.

My maternal parent is highly concerned that I begin my education at the top of my class. For some reason this pushes my hair out even farther. Could this be something to research when I'm allowed to operate my own laboratory?

In response to my earnest petition, my maternal parent cut short our tutoring so that I could explore the town as an alien on the occasion of the holiday commonly called "Spooky Day."

Beware, townspeople! An alien with witchlike powers approaches!

A terrified resident fills my polyurethane pumpkin with high caloric treats in the hope that I will leave her in peace. Be at ease, fearful resident! I mean you no harm.

Later that night, pitiful zombies attempt to make music with the laser harp belonging to my maternal parent. Can zombies be pacified with music? It is another subject for future research.

I adore Lovec's voice - although I'm sure he'd have preferred me to express the sentiment more formally :).

Lovec has requested that I convey his humble gratitude for your compliment.  ;)
