That's natural. I used to(and still do on occasion lol) kill them on purpose. Than I got more involved with the game and got some favorites. The very first Dynasty attempt, I used Chris and when he died, I bawled my eyes out. Now that I'm not playing a Dynasty, every game I start in SV, I get to know my faves so I can watch them and when they turn old, I use a fountain of youth on them.  ;D
Hah, I suppose my sim could learn to make ambrosia or the young again potion and try to make them ingest it. I know you can bring plates of food to Sims..what about potions? If you make it a drink a leave it lying about, will random sims drink it or do they need to be directed to do so? Hmmm.. An idea. Thanks Esther! XD

Someone can correct me if I am wrong, but other than your sim(s) you can't control anyone.  They have to be from the ones you chose to play with, whether a household you chose to play or one(s) you created in CAS.
I don't think you can put out food or drinks and have townies and NPC consume them.  I have had my sims cookout at parks and gardens and I can't remember anyone other my sims consuming the food.
Which is a bummer, as it would be nice to be able to give them the procreation elixir and have them reproduce so there will be more sims born.  Definitely need more sims to replace the ones who die.

I think you can give a sim a Young Again Potion as a gift. I can't remember; it's been a while since I played with Generations.

I hadn't thought of the gifting as I never do that. I don't have Generations so that could affect what can be given in that manner.  I do know that we can't control NPC or townies that are not part of our sim family.

I shudder to think of what a mess it would be to try to control more than one family in two different homes.  One family of six or seven sims is more than enough for me.

There are those here who are much more knowledgeable than I am in what can and can't be done in that area.  Hopefully someone can clarify what can and can't be done.

I did this when I was playing a townie dynasty, it was already a fail but I carried on for a bit for my own amusement, anyway I decided to test a theory about the young again potion and used my usual guinea pig Dallas who by then was a very old man, I had my gen 2 sim invite him round and lucky for me he wandered off into the garden to dance at the stereo so I fenced him in with nothing but the mysterious drink, then I just waited until he got hungry enough to drink it.

He complained a lot before he did but the family just ignored him  ;D

It actually proved a useful experiment as gen 2 then fell for an elderly lady and as you have to marry and move in with them I couldn't ask her to move in so I did the same thing to her, fenced her in with a drink, I was a bit nicer to her though and gave her a recliner and toilet.

I have supernatural now so it's no longer necessary for me to go to these lengths to make people young again but it did work. From what I understand gifting wont work as they wont drink the potion autonomously and you cannot give them the mixed drink.

Mortimer Goth .... aww<3 Even as an elder, he was seriously handsome! My Prince Charming<googly eyes>

And VJ Alvi, with a proper makeover, I insist is an irresistible sim, though definitely not soulmate material lol!

I'll agree with you there. I recently decided to play as the Alvi family and was surprised by how good-looking VJ is. His personality definitely leaves something to be desired, though.

I have a bit of a crush on Christopher Steel after a makeover. I'm a bit younger than him (I'm classed as a young teen), but it could work out. I made a sim that looked kind of like me, and they hit it off well.

I've recently got Starlight Shores; and I think Finnegan Sawyer is cute. There'd be an age gap though if I was a Sim, He's a few days into the Adult stage. and in Sim terms I'd be at the beginning of the Young Adult one, but it may work.

Like a couple of others, my Sims 2 nostalgia forces me to play out Mortimer and Bella's story every once in a while again. I've also played Bridgeport heavily in the past and find myself drawn to Beau Merrick. (Mind, after I popped out his cheeks a little in CAS and a make-over.) I also have a soft spot Gobias Koffi. Not that I would ever let him touch my sims....But I love to hook him up with Conner Frio and let them have huge amounts of babies. (adoption, alien abduction and plant sim babies.) And recently I've been playing Appaloosa Plains and you hardly ever hear anything about the townies there. But I found that I quite liked Benjamin Schimdt and made him my sim's husband. (Make-over is necessary though.)
But that is as far as my preferences for townies go. I guess I don't have the imagination to actually have a crush on them.

You don't? Okay, listen to this then: I think Calvin Riffin is a real cutie, especially after he took that knitted hat off, and let his hair grow out a bit. And that sad background story, with him taking over the whole responsibility for his younger brother and sister and little dog, after the parents died in a fire accident some years ago. :'(  It's impossible, at least for me, to not feel overwhelmed by compassion. I have played that family several times by now, and I always resurrect the parents, Clement and Clarissa, make Calvin drop his part time job at the mausoleum and start his new career as a writer, and every time it just makes me feel so incredibly good! ;D

I have a strong soft spot for Xander Clavell after a make over and a round SWAP meetings. I think he has very good genetics.
I don't have Aurora Skies, but whoever was the poster boy for it looks EXACTLY like my husband. We thought it was quite strange when we saw the ad for it because I had just created a Simself of him and suddenly there was an ad online with an identical Sim :P

Calvin Riffin - I'm so happy you mentioned him, @Angélique! He is one of my favorite Appaloosa Plains residents! Not only does he have winning traits, but he also has this boyish handsomeness.

Yes, I agree that four of his traits are very good, but the fact that he's a coward caused a lot of problems. I don't blame poor Calvin for being scared and emotionally traumatized, after that horrible fire accident that took both his parents life when he was a teenager, and his siblings were only toddlers, but every time one or both of his ghost parents decided to leave their urn and roam around in the house, he fainted with fear and fell down on the floor with a thud. After that it took some time before he came to, and when he saw their ghost again, he fainted again.

This chain of events repeated itself over and over again, so finally I had to use testing cheats and take him to CAS and replace that coward trait with something more useful. I also changed his voice to voice number 1, because the one that he had, number 3, doesn't sound like the voice of a young adult, which is what Calvin is when you first start the game in Appaloosa Plains.

All right, I have to admit it, I kind of fell in love with Goopy GilsCarbo in MV once he got into high school and started hitting on my teen sim!  XD  I had another guy picked out for her but I made her marry Goopy instead.  I don't know, there's something about skinny dorky guys...
