What is a loft bed?

There is a tip that says get a loft bed, you can put stuff under it. But I have no clue what it is. ;D

It's like a bunk bed with no lower bunk. They first came with Generations.  :)

Desks, chairs, that sort of thing. Anything that fits in the space, basically.  :)

I think you can also put cribs which can be useful for a family in a small home.  :)

Loft beds are often a big feature in Tiny Houses, which are exactly what it says on the tin - a house built to take up as little space as possible. Quite often they'll also have the bedroom in a half-loft over the kitchen and/or bathroom. I'm a huge fan of them IRL but Sims tend to get confused with that little space and get stuck between a chair and a wall and die while the player laughs maniacally.

I think i know something that you can't put under the loft bed... dressers.  This has annoyed me forever since I usually put my computer in a study and I think that loft beds look cool.  Not even that dresser called hot to trot that "supposedly" takes up only two spaces can fit under it.  I've tried it.  It didn't work for me but I might have been doing something wrong.

I believe the dresser wont because of the footprint size - the way the ladders are set up at the sides of the bed, instead of the foot would mean that the sim can't properly open the dresser (for whatever silly reason) and therefore, aren't valid to fit.

Where does one see these loft beds? I looked for them, but all I could find were bunk beds.

Same place as bunks, but usually just to the left of them (bunks have the 2 mattresses, lofts have just a single at the top).

I have a loft bed in RL, and it's way too cool. I have my entire entertainment setup under there.

But the designs of them in The Sims 3 don't really appeal to me. Too much specialized theming. Same goes for the bunk beds. But you can always rely on your good friend MoveObjects for placing odd things under them.

“You ought to upgrade to Windows 7!”, they said. “It’ll help your games run so much better!”, they said. If I see them again, then they had better know how to stabilize an on-the-fritz copy of The Sims 3 that was working just fine on Windows XP.
