Just wanted to throw an update in with gardening. After doing a complete fresh re-install of the game, I no longer have issues with my backed up pre-patch files.

Alex, you mention you really like your gem cutter.  What is it and where can I get it.  Sounds like a wonderful thing to have.  Is it a game item?  I've always mailed them to be cut.

I also share the mailbox problem that you are having.  Yours is the first post I've seen other than mine.  I was beginning to think I was alone on that one.  I also use a dog for hunting the gems.  My problem definitely didn't start until I downloaded the patch.  It only occurs with the dog's items.  My sim can collect and mail his with no problem.

So a new issue popped up with this patch.   The sweetest pea noticed it first and then I noticed it tonight.   Elder Sims no longer have the option to get fertility treatment.  I know it's not huge but it's still a change.

Darn! It's Elders that aren't allowed it? That's really frustrating! I thought it was just a ghost thing. It also seems to be much less useful in increasing the chance of multiple births now.

The gem cutter came with Supernatural.  I'm also having this problem but I didn't notice it at first until today when I played a file that actually smelted metal.

thanks Alex.  I'm not sure I want Supernatural.  Not a fan.  Mailbox may have to do which has always been fine.  Ya can't miss what ya never had.  Appreciate the info though.

Has anyone had sim members randomly removed from their control?  They live in the house but are unselectable until I reload the game.

I'll have to try it with items my sim collected. I don't find them too often, at least not until I have enough LTHP to get the Collection Helper.

I can understand that. Believe me, the gem cutter isn't worth $40 on its own. But I'm interested enough in the rest of the EP that I would have bought it no matter what. :)

Beardeux - how do you transfer the items from the dog's inventory to the sim's? It might be helpful to transfer them from the dog's inventory to the ground and then have the sim pick them up.

I had this happen last night after my first attempt in loading my dynasty after the reinstall. Reloaded my game and everything was fine and running smoothly.

It worked! When you place them on the ground, there's no interaction for your sim to just pick them up, but there is the "get smelted" option. Basically, your sim has to do them one at a time, so it's a good idea to put them on the ground near the mailbox. Thank you so much Cathy! You have no idea how happy this makes me.  :)

Hi CathyKnits - I've used 3 methods.
1) Sometimes the dog presents to the sim but I have to drag it into the sim's inventory and use smelt option.
2)  I've dragged it to the ground near the mailbox and used the option smelt.  No point in putting them anywhere else.
3)  I've had the sim pick them up from the ground and use the option smelt.  He is reset no matter what.  He's only reset a few feet though.  At least I don't have to go looking for him.

I haven't done any gardening since reading about the bugs, but I've been getting a similar micro-managing bug with my mailbox. I almost always use a dog to hunt for gems and metals to make money. However, now when my sim goes to the mailbox to send a bunch of them off to be smelted or cut, she'll only do one, and then reset to about 2-3 feet from the mailbox, queue completely empty. I don't have any trouble telling her to get mail or pay bills, just when she goes to send something.

Yes, I'm patched, do not have SN installed, and the gardening problems persist (even with new sims in a new game).  Plus, I've noticed the problem with metals - but for me it's only metals.  Sending gems works fine.

I've done factory reset and started a new game, but, I still can't garden properly, my sim will harvest several plants and then stop, so I have to watch her and keep restarting gardening until she has finished.  The problem is worse in the WA destinations where she can only harvest one plant at a time.  Worse still is that plants planted in her WA home produce virtually no fruits, some plants, like life fruit and flame fruit, nothing at all.  I've always relied on gardening on holiday as its easier than at home when work etc is a priority.

I am also having the same problem as others, with getting metal smelted.

Right now as far as I can tell there are only two possibilities of getting the gardening thing fixed.

1) Reinstall and wait to download the patch until after you downloaded Supernatural (if you have it)
2) Download and install Twallan's mod Overwatch just long enough to get your to recognize the plant section of the collection journal.

No one else has been able to come up with anything that I've seen but I'm sure people are working on it so you don't have to take such measures if you don't want to.
