I've noticed that other people on the TheSims3.com forum boards are having the same issue. I recall having this issue after a patch a long time ago..I don't remember how it was solved, sadly.

Yes, I saw this on the official site too and it doesn't seem to be spoiled until your sim eats it or has eaten it. I believe this was only with food already in the fridge and new food shouldnot have the problem.
If problems would continue, I would just replace the fridge (not officially suggested, just my thought)
Problem? Don't panic! There is always a solution. You just have to find it  :D

Yeah, the spoiled food thing happened to me too. It was only right after the patch though, after I got it out of the fridge everything's been fine again.

Food spoiling in the fridge is a pretty common side effect of a patch.

Well, that's interesting.  I did check the other leftovers and they didn't show as being spoiled, but it looks like it would be a wise precaution to just discard all leftovers from before the patch.

Since the patch, I've found a bunch of spoiled food in the fridge.  I can't prove this was related to the patch, but the spoiled items had only been in the fridge a couple of days, and it's an expensive fridge so I wouldn't have expected things to spoil this quickly.  I didn't find out about the problem until after my poor Sims had eaten the spoiled food and gotten sick, so if you have leftovers you might want to check before your Sims eat them.

This happened to me as well.  Everything pulled from the fridge had green fumes coming from it, but nothing said it was spoiled.  I tossed everything and all the new meals I've prepared since then (about a sim week now) have kept fine.

My fridges have been working just fine.

Kind of glad that I didn't start gardening yet in my dynasty.

Yeah, I noticed nothing said it was spoiled. Genie Summoned Baked angel Food Cake still said "perfect Quality" and it left my sims vomiting for two sim weeks before I figured it out  :-[

Gardening is working fine in my game.  I had no problems getting my Sims to harvest everything.

I'm wondering about the effect of the tick boxes on celebrity & vampire populations.  I uninstalled Late Night because of those characters.  I'd like to reinstall LN for the instruments, but only if I can set the celebrity & vampire populations to zero.  Is that what the tick box does?  Is it all or nothing?  If I reinstall and then check the boxes (or uncheck, depending on which way it works), will that mean I'll have the celebrity & vampire-free game I currently enjoy?

It won't get rid of vampires that the game starts with, but it will stop new ones popping up. It will be the same for the other supernaturals when the game actually comes out. Those that are already a witch, werewolf or fairy will still be them, it'll just stop the game bringing in any more.

Thanks, Lysita.  So does that mean if I check/uncheck the box as soon as I reinstall LN, there will be no vampires or celebrities in my game (since there are none presently)?  That's what I really want to know, because to me even one celebrity or vampire is too many.

Depends on where your game file is. If you're playing in Sunset Valley, for example, there will be none. If you're playing Bridgeport, however, There will still be those that start out as Vampires or Celebrities. You can cheat to remove their Celebrity stars though. I don't know about removing the vampires.

From my observations with unchecking the boxes, premade vampires and pets will still be there. Celebrities, however, won't. For example, everybody in Barnacle Bay lost their celebrity status.
Although this may happen because I've also unchecked the box 'Apt celebrities from my current household'(forgot what's it's actually called).
I'm really glad EA created this option, because the vampires and celebrities bugged me, like Schipperke, too. Now I can finally play again without getting annoyed by them.

I didn't see this mentioned, so my apologies if someone did already mention it:

This patch brings a new fishing book, requiring skill level 7. Toads, Salamanders, and Beyond: A Guide to Magical Fishing
