My gardening has improved somewhat in 48 sim hours.  Now my sim harvests items and they go to her inventory correctly.  However, I'm now getting the snap-to-standing cancelled action others were getting, but only when she harvests.  When she waters or weeds, she goes from plant to plant like she should.

A couple other weird things.  The dog found a gem.  I went to sell it and it both sold it and put it on the ground.  I sold the gem on the ground and was immediately credited with the price of two gems instead of one.  Also, the dog got fleas.  It's been forever since the dog had fleas.

Still having pathing issues, too, particularly with the little girl.  Whenever I ask her to do something in the kitchen and she's already in the room, she leaves the room and comes back instead of just proceeding to the task I've assigned her.

OK sorry to keep going on about the gardening issue.  One of my files is definitely corrupt but the other might be salvageable.

It seems when you plant a new plant the following day it looks fully matured but on the third day (first day: planted, second day: looks fully matured) it looks like a sprout again.  Therefore, it may appear that gardening is corrupted.  After testing for a Sim week I can safely say that the plants go onto grow normally and produce fruit.  Hopefully this will help some of you :)

It seems many people have a gardening issue. Or at least, that is what I read on the internet. I don't read anything about people having no issues at all... but that may be quite normal that you only find complaints and no compliments ;)

Anyways... I am in doubt if I should update or wait. Can everyone who has no problems with the update at all mention that here too please? I would really appreciate it! I am just wondering if everybody has problems, or just a few of us.

Well nothing in my garden has grown for the past 3 Sim days :( looks like I may have to start over....I was so close to my first immortal as well.

Whoa, I got the new patch but had no idea controls for supernaturals were already in place! *is thrilled at the prospect of being able to turn off vampires for her Immortal Legacy*

Anyway, that is strange that others are reporting a bug with gardening because I had a Sim gardening today and things seemed to be moving along just fine.

So it seems as if only some people are having the gardening bug?

After reading this entire thread over this morning, I felt safe enough to download the patch.  I probably won't be playing 'till tonight, but I'm still very excited.

Also, last night, a few people were talking about the patch taking an hour to download.  In the time it took for me to browse this thread (about five minutes) the download was complete.  At least that went well!

From what I have been reading on the official forum in the Supernatural Bug Thread there are also problems with writing. The issues with both gardening and writing apparently have to do with Supernatural not being installed. It has links or checks to new options (of SN) in the game, which results in bugs when the options are not available.
So as soon as you have SN it should be ok I guess. I assume there will be a new patch necessary to fix this for the simmers without Supernatural.

Edit: So I've come to the conclusion to wait with the update myself. Preferably until I have Supernatural, but at least until they have another patch to fix the problems.

I am not having any! Or at least any serious trouble. My sims seem to get stuck more often (like when a sim is in a small room, another comes in and then the first one won't come out, but it also happens in bigger rooms) but it's nothing serious. And after a week sim-time it's getting better I think. I did have a little glitch with gardening as I said, my plants took longer as usual to grow, but now they are growing well and giving fruit and everything. I even tried writing (one of my sims is a journalist) and it's working    properly too.  :) The only weird thing I've noticed is that the townies were stuck in the park. The same townies stood there for three sim-days until I decided to reset the world. That seemed to fix it though, everything looks normal now.

Hey all! I'm not sure if someone mentioned this before, but I was going through the accessories and you can now customize the "Mark of the vampire/Vampire bite" in colors and they added Vampire teeth as well! I even put a pair of teeth on a non-vampire sim. Just something I noticed ;)

Angus Grim says "Bad Gardening Bug go away".   I am now at the point where I'm having to micro manage my Sim to harvest the garden but if I tell him to weed he'll do the whole garden without issue.  I'm actually going to replant my entire garden to see if the new plants still cause this bug or just the old ones.  I didn't need those 39 money trees anymore anyway.

Does anyone know if it is just Pre-Patch games that have these bugs or if it is new Games as well?

This is what velocitygrass (and crinrict, a wellknown bugsolver, agrees) says on the official forum:

About gardening:
Skimming the code it seems that the Mycelium Plant Growth State was added for Mushrooms. When you move from Planted to this stage (which is second in line), there is a check if the plant is a mushroom and if not it just skips over this stage. However, this check is only enabled for EP7, so if you don't have Supernatural it will simply assign the Mycelium Growth State after the Planted one.

I'm not entirely sure if/how this causes the actions to be thrown out of queue, but this explains the wrong Mycelium state of plants and since it's a combination that shouldn't happen (Mycelium on a non-mushroom), it might cause follow-up errors. I'll see if I can actually reproduce the kicking out of queue and if it only happens if there is a Mycelium state plant (for me, I could harvest two in a row in my garden where I had manually moved from the Mycelium state to the next).

About writing:
I checked the writing issue and the problem is that Horror (and I assume Poetry; my sim isn't at writing level 7 yet) is available in the base game, but the data for horror and poetry are only read if Supernatural is installed, which causes the jump bug, since the game encounters an error when trying the get a fitting title from an empty list.

So I assume problems can occur with any game, new or not.

Plus, I just saw Twallan reporting this: Missing plants is a EA bug that happens to Sims with pre-existing collection skill.
He is talking about the Plant Collection missing tab, or a tab with nothing in it.

Sure hope they don't mind me quoting them, but I don't like to pretend as if I am such a whizz myself ;)

Edit: Almost forgot to say that that is a great picture of Angus, Ricalynn! Really made me laugh! How did you get him to pull that face?

Thanks so much for those quotes Odie.  Makes me feel better a little since I know I'll be getting the game next week.  It's just happening a lot more because everyone has a weekend to see bugs instead of 24 hours.

As for Angus' face, it's one that insane sims make.  I just happened to have been paused while micro managing him.  Funny thing.   He revived a couple of death flowers the day before and they harvested back to back like normal.  It's only fully grown plants from before the patch that are causing the jump bug.

Wow. I wish I was more of a modder or a techy person after reading this thread.

RicaLynn, I didn't quote you because your list was so long, but we will have to talk sometime. I have no idea what GamePlayData is or how it works but some of those mods on that list look like they would be helpful if I knew what they were. PM me sometime will you? If you don't mind translating into layman's terms for me.  ;)

Also, do I have to shut down my game to get this patch? I don't usually get bugs that I know of when I get patches but I really wanted to wait until I got the new EP instead of getting the sneak peak. Is the only way to avoid a patch is by not turning the game on? What if I already have the game on? Should I leave it up until the new EP comes?

Rica, I'm guessing weeding works because it doesn't involve the growth state of the plant at all. I needed to supervise Peter Tanner to harvest and fertilize the garden, and noticed the following things:

1) Sometimes harvesting returned the plant to "mature" state, sometimes it didn't. Even if the plant still said "harvest", the command to harvest wasn't there.
2) Plants that were inappropriately set to "Mycelium" seemed to get stuck. I was able to reset these to "sprout" with a unicorn.
3) Sometimes the sim would fertilize multiple plants in a row, sometimes not.

Fortunately what I'm doing with the garden right now is collecting grapes for a future nectar-making sim, thso it's not a horrible huge deal if things go weird for a bit.

Angus just replanted his whole garden just in case.  Some of the plants did that mycelium stage but most didn't.  Her fertilized the whole garden without issues.  So I think I may be in the clear as soon as everything grows back.  So good news for others.
