So far, I haven't had any babies born yet, but when my Dynasty inventor goes exploring into the past, she's suddenly making lots of those "friends with ancestors whose descendants love you lots" things. Pre-patch, I had that happen only once. Post patch, I think I'm at 3.

(Whenever she returns from the past with a negative moodlet, I moodlet manager it off, and hop right back in).

Do you have a story progression mod installed?

Man, I wish I had your luck. Do you know how maddening it is to have an "original townies only" rule for a dynasty and having to do it all yourself? Dear god. .___.

Nope, no mods.

Then I am really jealous! No pregnant townies in my towns.

Nope, no mods.

In the two years I've played sims, I haven't had one pregnancy. In fact, I've only had one marriage!

I finally got a pregnant townie by moving her in, having her try for baby with another townie, and then marrying the two of them and moving them out.

In my immortal dynasty, I ended up moving in elder males who were close to death and having them have some fun with the women of the town. Twinbrook had a small baby boom because of my efforts. I am so proud.

It gives my founder motivation, darn it.

In the beginning of sims3 I did have pregnant townies and townies getting married. But later on nothing, a update must have change something in story progression.

It's really frustrating if your playing a dynasty, because all townies that move in have the same facial structure. So children will look the same generation after generation.

I've noticed this too.  Early on, I had townies getting married, having babies, etc.  You know... all the things you'd expect story progression to take care of.  If I remember right, there was a patch pretty early on that modified story progression because it was apparently doing "too much" (children being dropped into households even if the sim was single and didn't have a romantic interest, too many families moving out of town, etc. and it wouldn't toggle off for some people.)  I personally felt that the fix went to the opposite extreme and suddenly nothing was happening.  I think it was patch 1.3.  I don't know if a subsequent patch has made the problem worse, of if I'm just really unlucky in my game- I don't seem to get any births at all any more.

As for how active story progression was early on: yes, it got a little frustrating if you played multiple households and found your sims saddled with a random pathogenesis baby or a spouse you never expected. Or perhaps dead. But you know what, c'est la vie. A game with an open-world needs things like that to happen. Anything to prevent the town from surrendering to the clone-army almost as soon as you open it.

I get a few townie pregnancies in each longer than usual games, and a few marriages, but not none at all. Even though there are simply a few, there are enough for me to choose from if I want my sims to get married later on. Though, in my games, there's more of a chance to have families moving in with kids. I didn't see a notable change at around the 1.31 patch mark, as I didn't get many pregnancies before that. But maybe that was because I had a worse computer back then. I don't have Pets, but I am patched up to the latest.
