Again i have to say i love your challenges, this really got my mind of alot of personal problems.

Cash Star scored this:

It took her 12 days to complete the challenge so
12 x 0,05 = (0,6) 1,0 - 0,6 == 0,4

She had 59 celebrity friends:
59 x 0,005 == 0,295

Total multiplier:
0,4 + 0,295 == 0,695

She got alot of money a total of 147156 which ended in the total score:
147156 x 0,695 == 102273

Anna Dunbar finished Week 2 Day 1 for 8 days:

 32 celebrity friends x .005 = .16

Household funds 134,126

so 1 - (8 x .005) = .60 + .16 = .76

134,126 x .76 = 101,935

It was a fun challenge and very much based on luck hehe..

Nice to see you again, Blackrosea. :) Thank you for participating. You accidentally multiplied your days--8 by .005 when it needed to be multiplied by .05. It's the Number of Celebrities that is scored at .005. I adjusted your score.

------------

So that's a wrap everyone. This event is now closed. It was great to see more participation in this event despite some luck involved. Congrats to Chuckles for a nice win and thanks to all who gave it a shot.

So, feel free to now discuss your strategies.

Well done Chuckles!!  ;D  And all those who participated!!

I found in test files that my sim would stop knowing a celebrity after a while if you had not attain friend status.  So I basically skilled my sim in Alchemy until they could mix Potent Friendship and then I went around throwing them at celebrities.  I gained level 5 status in 6 days and was just waiting for opportunities and gifts (which where few and far between).

I would love to see other's strategies, especially those who completed the challenge in days rather than weeks :)

A while back I remembered reading a thread by someone complaining about the fact that nearly everyone in Barnacle Bay was a celebrity. That was the key to my celebrity multiplier. I checked other towns, but none compared. There were well over 50 starting sims that had celebrity status.

The other important things were:
- making sure my sim didn't receive lower valued opportunities, so no clubs for dance here or buy a drink there opps.
- getting to level 5 as soon as possible. I made it to level 5 late that first Sunday afternoon by befriending 4-star celebrities - spamming enthuse about career socials made making them BFFs a breeze, and probably just as fast as having to research potions, get ingredients, and make them.
- making friends with everyone else after that - a couple of people became celebrities, I'm assuming by knowing my sim and others, and some new ones moved in.
- not having to sleep is great, but honestly, 2 naps in the rocking chair is the shortest way yet I've seen to fill the sleep bar by actually sleeping.
- fulfilling all those 'impress such and such' and 'befriend such and such' wishes and all that go along with them assured my sim had at least 10k points to buy the opportunistic reward by Sunday evening.
- as soon as my sim had another 15k happiness points she bought the travel rewards and headed to china for 6 days to wait for gifts to come in. The game timer for gifts goes off every 2 days, and the higher level your sim, the more likely they are to receive gifts, and higher quality gifts.
- finally, rather than cashing in that final item right away, waiting til the very end of the day in case another opportunity came along.

Okay, Blackrosea's score is actually correct...I got a clarification from her and all is good. I just need to adjust the World Ranking for a few players.

Yes, ultimately the bit that won it for me was the Bwan Speedster (and I was indeed sitting and hoping for one) - but failing that, you need to try and tip the scales in your favor a little by making the very most out of opportunities. Opportunities are guaranteed over a certain number of days, gifts are by chance. In my practice I did try cancelling the one for the bistro in order to get more cameos and business ads, but it still kept coming back, despite only having a 25% for 5 days (according to the code).

Good luck to everyone in the final challenge!

I see - wow had no idea about this.

My strategy was basically about the same (get L5 celebrity as fast as possible, take 6-day vacation, complete ops and wait on gifts), except I did it in Bridgeport, so of course the celebrity numbers would be smaller.

Is there a trick to getting opportunities and gifts that I don't know about? I started off by getting a skill in charisma and then heading to China for 3 days to meet 20 people there to gain the friendship boost when first meeting someone. Then I tried to meet all the celebrities I could. I only got one opportunity a day and it was always the dancing or have a drink ones. Once I got the restaurant one and then every other time I got it I couldn't complete it so I had to cancel it and I still wouldn't get another opportunity for almost a full day! And then I only got 4 gifts through out the 5 weeks. Is there something that I am missing? What did I do wrong? I also played in Bridgeport because I don't have Barnacle Bay and every other EA town doesn't have celebrities right away!

Only the trick that was explained earlier in this thread, if there are no LN clubs or bars at the town you can't get any dance and drink opportunities. You can still get the dining at the bistro opp that doesn't pay much either.

I also went the alchemy route and my sim was a fairy so that he could grow red valerian root fast. My sim got five gifts, two hot tubes, tv, guitar and a gnome. I was wondering if he didn't receive a car because he had a broom and he wasn't ever using a car but that can be random, of course.

I played in Barnacle Bay, too, and was fortunate enough to get a Margaret Vaguester at the end of the 2nd week.

One thing I noticed was that my sim never got any bad publicity from the paparazzi. Possibly my sim wasn't around long enough, but it could also be that if you accept the celebrity opportunities, the paparazzi don't make up news about you.

Another thing I learned is that if you have the Opportunistic lifetime reward, not only do you get double the money for an opportunity but also double the celebrity points.
