A while back I remembered reading a thread by someone complaining about the fact that nearly everyone in Barnacle Bay was a celebrity. That was the key to my celebrity multiplier. I checked other towns, but none compared. There were well over 50 starting sims that had celebrity status.
The other important things were:
- making sure my sim didn't receive lower valued opportunities, so no clubs for dance here or buy a drink there opps.
- getting to level 5 as soon as possible. I made it to level 5 late that first Sunday afternoon by befriending 4-star celebrities - spamming enthuse about career socials made making them BFFs a breeze, and probably just as fast as having to research potions, get ingredients, and make them.
- making friends with everyone else after that - a couple of people became celebrities, I'm assuming by knowing my sim and others, and some new ones moved in.
- not having to sleep is great, but honestly, 2 naps in the rocking chair is the shortest way yet I've seen to fill the sleep bar by actually sleeping.
- fulfilling all those 'impress such and such' and 'befriend such and such' wishes and all that go along with them assured my sim had at least 10k points to buy the opportunistic reward by Sunday evening.
- as soon as my sim had another 15k happiness points she bought the travel rewards and headed to china for 6 days to wait for gifts to come in. The game timer for gifts goes off every 2 days, and the higher level your sim, the more likely they are to receive gifts, and higher quality gifts.
- finally, rather than cashing in that final item right away, waiting til the very end of the day in case another opportunity came along.
