Mr.Payne,
I was hoping you could help her with her Hot Headed trait. It does cause many issues. So, it would be very helpful if you could help her become more cool headed. I hope she enjoys the SWAP meeting. You have my permission, with a very big thank you!

Thank you for your quick response!  Changing personality traits is a major goal, but we'll do everything we can to keep your sister happy and in a good mood which should make it easier for her to change.

A quick question, what exactly would the care packages included? Is it services, or activities or items?

I was thinking of items, but now that you've brought up other possibilities - sure, why not?  If you have an idea for something for a care package, send it in the mail (PM me) and we'll work out any details.

Is there a age limit? Or am I not allowed to send my teen in to get help?

Sorry Dextra, when I was catching up on this thread this morning I saw your post but neglected to answer.

The treatment centre is really designed for Sims who are grown up - YA, Adult, or Elder, and the plan is for them to spend most of their time in the treatment centre with occasional outings.  I'm still thinking about having a teenager.  One thing I don't know, can Teen Sims be uploaded by themselves with no adults?  If they can, I'm inclined to say yes because I do think it would add interest to the story.  But we aren't really set up to provide extra supervision for a young person, so it would need to be a teenager who is responsible enough to fit in with an older group.  I think the young person's traits might be important there.  Of course, a teenager who is still in school is going to be spending much of their day away from the treatment centre.  School and homework would limit the time they have to work on treatment goals.

So if you want to refer a teenager, let's try it.  I'll rely on you to choose traits that won't make a young person disruptive in the centre, and also to choose realistic treatment goals.

Dear Mr. Payne,

My name is Charissa Hilliard, and I would like to refer myself to your program. Currently I am a sophomore at Hidden Springs University, majoring in the biological sciences. My problem (besides being insane) is that although I love the outdoors, I'm not very fond of gardening or fishing (they're so slimy), both of which I need to graduate so that I can then get a horse. They won't let me have a horse here; if you would let me have a horse, I would be the best Sim ever -- you'll see! Also, I'm clumsy, and I don't like children. Maybe you can help me change? Because everyone says I would make beautiful babies. Here's what I look like --

Oh, I almost forgot -- my goal is to get better at fishing and gardening so I can graduate and get a horse. Preferably a black Arabian with a white star on its forehead.

Yours, Charissa

Dear Mr. Payne,

I hope you can help Miss Hilliard. We didn't realize she had a problem; we thought she was just talking to the plants until she got the Me, Myself, and I Achievement for insane Sims.

Maybe having a horse would help her; unfortunately our policy at HSU is very strict. Since only two of our students would be able to have a pet, we don't allow any. She does enjoy being outside, and could perhaps complete her course requirements in fishing and gardening while collecting beetles and butterflies for the zoology component of her degree. However, I can't help feeling that actually working with plants would be of benefit to her -- I've been taking care of her garden on the days when she swears that the weeds scream when she uproots them.

She has promised to send me updates on her progress if you decide to accept her as a client.

Sincerely yours, Estevan Clemens, Assistant Dean

P.S. Charissa is insane, clumsy, and an equestrian. She loves the outdoors and dislikes children.

Letter:

Dear Charissa,

I have just received your letter of self-referral.  Thank you for enclosing the letter from your Assistant Dean; I'm glad he is supportive of you in your quest for self-improvement.  We do not presently have a horse at the treatment centre, although that could change.  However, we are right next door to the local equestrian centre, so perhaps something can be worked out there to allow you to work on your equestrian skills.

The centre does have a small garden, and your gardening experience will be of great benefit there.  Also there are many good fishing spots in the vicinity (one right across the street), and another resident who will be joining us is also interested in fishing, so perhaps you will find you have something in common.

A teenager can be uploaded through CAS without an adult, since it's not a household he's going to, if that makes sense.

Thanks, Audren, for that useful information.

Well, then, the only remaining concerns are how well a teenager will fit into the treatment centre, and whether they'll have enough time to work on treatment goals.  I think the only way to answer those concerns is to try it and see, so if Dextra or someone else wants to refer a teenager, we'll have a go!

We still have space for one referral, so whoever gets the next referral in will be the last one until the Treatment Centre has a vacancy.  Sstarr and Incubus have a little work to finish up before they move in to the Treatment Centre, so I think it will be a few days until we see the new referrals arriving.  In the mean time, perhaps they would like to do some thinking about how they feel about going to treatment, hopes and fears (if any) about the treatment, something they like about themselves, and any other information they'd like to share to help the other residents get to know them.  This is the sort of thing they will be discussing at their first group therapy session.

Any journal entries related to this should be sent directly to me so I can incorporate them into the story.

So, should we write a journal entry for our Sims about how they are feeling about going to the GO treatment center? Or wait till they get there?

It's up to you.  I think you might write it as if your Sim is thinking about what lies ahead.  Once the Sims arrive, I'd like them to have their first group therapy session shortly after arrival, so it would save time if the journal entries could be in ahead of the time when I'll be using them.

'Hello, GO Treatment Center? Yes? Yes. My name is Camille Springer Scarlet. Yes... yes... yes... no, I'd like to make a referral, please. Yes? ...Oh. No. ...yes. No, it's for my mother, Trisha Scarlet. Yes... yes, she is Insane. Yes, the facilities out here leave a lot to be desired. Oh? What, my last name? No. No. Yes... yes, my niece, Erica, recommended the center to me. She says it's run by a gentleman known as Mr. Payne? ...yes. Apparently she knows him very well.*

'Oh, you want to know the reason for the referral? Well, to p- no. My mom is completely out to lunch. Ever since our dad died, she's been getting worse. Now, she goes to sleep in her favorite dress every night, and she's had a swimming pool built around the house to keep the unicorns out. A couple years ago, she became obsessed with finding a way to become youthful again, and she discovered the Fountain of Youth after a lot of insanity. Ever since she drank from it, she's spent her leisure time fishing in the swimming pool. Yes, the same one that she built to keep the unicorns out. Yes, she has an island in the middle of it with a recliner and a fridge where she does all her fishing. Yes... no, she's not mean-spirited, she just hasn't quite got all the pages. She talks to herself all the time.

'My mom is a family person. She was thrilled when my niece, Erica, came along, but her chief pastime these days is to speak madness to poor Erica and her dad. She's something of a romantic, and we thought it might help if she started dating again, but every man she meets thinks she's far too crazy for him. She has no job, she just lives in the big old house we grew up in. Mathew - that's my brother - and I, we worry about her an awful lot. It's not healthy to stay in a house all the time. We'd like her to have some incentive to get into town and meet people.

'She'll be bringing some books, certainly, and I imagine she'll be bringing a MultiTab with her too. Yes... no, no video games. Those are for the new generation, or so she says. Yes... yes, I think pet care and the welcoming committee would be the best for her. Mom might be insane, but she's really quite lovely when she tries. Oh! Yes. Having the utilities to write us would be great for her, and so would care packages. I'll be sure to send some of her favorite food.

'Treatment goals? Well, I think that a session with SWAP would be useful to help her become less neurotic. I'd also like her to gain some practical skills so that she can get a job for herself. Yes... oh, and the ability to relate to animals would help. My brother and I would like to get her a pet, and we've been half-terrified of what she would do with one, so if we can trust her with a cat or dog, that would be great. Yes, I'll send her contact information right along. Thank you so much!'

Name/Gender/Age: Patricia (Trisha) Scarlet, Female, Young Adult
Traits: Childish, Family-Oriented, Hopeless Romantic, Insane, Neurotic
Treatment Goals: To SWAP her Neurotic trait, gain life skills and be well-versed in pet care to get an animal of her own on return home
Contact Information:

*Erica met Mr. Payne in Chapter 6 of the Daisy Path story. Camille is her dad's sister and Trisha is her grandma. I uploaded Trisha from CAS, not thinking if you would want a household, but I can get her household if you want.
