Eat a fish?

My cat has a wish to eat a fish (I'm a poet!) - how do I get him to do that? I've tried clicking on it in his inventory, and tried dragging it from my sims' inventory to the bowl, and tried clicking both the fish and the cat to see if there was a 'feed to' option. There isn't. He caught one while he was hungry and the message says he ate it, but that didn't fulfil the wish either.

Drag the fish from the cat's inventory onto the ground and then as the cat there should be an option to "Eat."

Awesome! Thanks Rica I'm more of a dog person and horse person myself, so I haven't played cats all that much til now.
