Teens are engaged?

I hope I've put this in the right place!
My heir in my Townie DecaDynasty (who is a teen girl) was about to woo one of the male teens roaming about in Sunset Valley (actually the child that Justine Keaton is pregnant with at the beginning of the game) and I tried the Pick up line option and he pulled away. I then got a message saying he was engaged! I checked his profile and he's most definitely a teen because he's in high school and my teen sim can flirt with him. And the worse part is that the girl he's engaged too is her cousin (the baby that Claire Ursine is carrying at the start of the game)!
Has this happened to anyone else?
