This is easier, though, as you're just starting out with... a MEDIUM play dynasty, no less?

Also, I didn't know fishboos were possible.  Did it just appear as an adult or was there a fat mummy fish/egg/tiny fish sequence?

You don't get a fish birth sequence but if you watch the tank closely you might see love hearts over the fish when they are trying for baby. So far I have gotten three fishboos from the same pair of deathfish. With an upgraded replicator you only need one death fish and one life fruit to make 60 plates of Ambrosia.At the minute I am saving up happiness points to buy a second replicator so I can get stocked up.
So far I have been lucky Sideburns collected a bunch of seeds on the second day of the dynasty without the collection helper and we got two life fruit bushes out of it. Hebe knows the Ambrosia recepie and has just another ten meals to make to supermax cooking and she is level five in her career she should be able to reach level ten by working at home and asking her boss for a promotion on her day off.She is five days from elder.Annie and Charlie can both do portraits so everything is going to plan at the minute. The entire thing rested on growing the life fruit in time.

I suppose it should be possible if you choose the right supermax skills and avoid the glitchy careers.  Are they going to travel?  (Because that would make things a lot easier.)
Other than that, sorting out the Ambrosia even faster than usual does seem like the main challenge.

Presumably you're not going to bother too much about the museum value

And now you've got me wondering whether it would be possible on the short setting (not that I've ever played on anything shorter than normal.)

Yes, I've seen it and am considering that one, too - although it's closer to a legacy than a dynasty and I'm not that keen on random traits.
