New at playing Sims Console
« on: August 17, 2012, 07:52:16 PM »
I just bought Sims 3 for my xbox 360 and the booklet that comes with it doesn't really tell you much about how to play the game.  I've created my Sim and household and all that but I am lost when it comes to figuring out the rest of the game.  I have a few questions and I'm really hoping someone here can answer them for me.

When my game starts there is a menu of sorts that shows up around the edges of the background.  How can I get rid of this menu so that my view of the house, neighbourhood, etc is not impaired?

Also how do I get my Sim to interact with other Sims already part of the game?  I've tired having him walk about but he doesn't seem to be able to talk or interact with anyone else.  I was able to get a career but I guess when my Sim goes to work I can't do anything with him?  Seems like it.  I have a lot more questions but getting answers to these first few will help me immensely.

Welcome to our Forum.  I'm going to move this to the Console Board and hopefully someone will be able to help.  I play the PC version, so I'm afraid I can't answer your questions.  We do have some console players here, though.

Hi I have the ps3 version and as for the menu bit as far as im aware you can only hide part of the menu, that being the part that shows your sims mood, wishes etc.. to do so on the ps3 I just hold the L1 or R1 button which I think will be one of the L or R Bumper for you. To get it to show that part of the menu again just tap the same button again and it should pop up.

To have a sim interact with other sims you need to have the sim you want selected by pressing Triangle on PS3 which should be Y on Xbox unless you only have 1 sim in which case it is already selected. Next just place your cursor over another sim and Press X on the PS3 or A on the Xbox and a menu should pop up with options for you to choose from.

Also you may want to pause the game and goto options, scroll down to make sure tutorials are enabled and maybe even reset the tutorials so it can guide you through the easy stuff. There is also a manual of sorts that explains about certain parts of the games, it's in either the pause menu (Start Button) or the other menu (Select Button) that you can view anytime, but if you have tutorials enabled you will learn all that it can tell you as you come across it.

Thanks for the help.  I have been able to learn my way around things somewhat.  It's been a long time since I've played any games so I'm a little rusty when it comes to things.

I have the sims 3 pets for ps3, which also doesn't give you much on how to play the game.  I learned through experience.  Also, when you first start the game a tutorial goes through and tells you what's what as you play.  I learned how to play after that through memorizing buttons, etc.  Sorry if that's brief but that's how I did it.
