Omni Plant Bugs still exist, need help!
« on: August 17, 2012, 03:05:39 PM »
I have tried the "cancel action before Sim reaches mailbox" trick to order more Omni Plant Seeds. On my computer, it didn't help. However, after getting her initial six Omni Plant Seeds for finishing the opportunities that lead up to it, my Sim could plant, water, fertilize her plants. Once they grew up, the interaction to feed them appears, as does check on diet. However, as I have seen noted in an old post around here before posting this, she cannot FEED the plants anything. No fish, seed, fruit, books, or anything else. She cancels the interaction before even getting to the plant.

For me this has been going on since about the time World Adventures came out, though it could have been when Ambitions came out. I KNOW it was before Late Night, anyway. I've tried to explain the issue to support, and they just always tell me this is the first they have ever heard of it. (I know I've told them at least three times, so yeah, I really believe that. LOL)

Cancelling the action should work as long as they are no where near the mailbox.  You'll know to expect more seeds if you see the Sim move like they are putting something in a mailbox.  Just check mail the next day after you see the mail carrier and they should be there.

As for not being able to feed them, does your Sim have a lot of items in their inventory?  Are you able to choose what to feed the plant when you click on it?  Does this only happen with the ones on your home lot or have you tried to do it at the OmniPlant in Sunset Valley in a different game to see if you could do it there?

When was the last time that you cleared your cache files?  Do you use mods or CC?

Also about the canceling thing, make sure that ordering the seeds is the current action for the Sim.  In other words, don't queue up multiple actions before the one to order the seeds.  The Sim has to actually start heading to the mail box when you cancel it.

Does anything at all happen when you click on the Feed interaction?  If your Sim's inventory is very full, it will take a long time for all of it to load so you can choose what to feed the Omni plant.  It's going to list each item individually, so if you have 100 Life Fruit, for example, it's going to show each of those 100 pieces of fruit.  I suggest moving out anything you don't want to feed to the plant to decrease that loading time.
