In your opinion, what's the hardest LTW to accomplish?
« on: August 14, 2012, 11:10:25 PM »
I know they're all challenging and they're supposed to be. I've only achieved a handful.

For me, right now, I'd have to say the One Man Band lifetime wish is the hardest. Even with the Fast Learner LTR and the Virtuoso trait, I don't think I could get it done without just maxing the motives when they fall low. My sim is finally almost there. She just has to max the drums and that's it. I don't even want to play the band anymore.

Yours?

I just finished this LTW. I didn't have any trouble at all. But I did a while back when I made him go to work in the music career. My sim didn't go out to work this time so she had time to play the instruments. I didn't even have to tell her what to play until the end so she could finish the bass.

Celebrated Five-Star Chef is proving to be tough for me. Sims do not progress through the culinary career at a decent pace, not to mention that skilling up in cooking is almost as hard as inventing.

Speaking of inventing, Descendant of Da Vinci and Monster Maker. Maxing out sculpting and painting is rather easy (for the first one), but inventing. Oh dear. It becomes less of making cool stuff and more of directing your sim to the shower when his/her rear catches on fire. The first time I played an inventor, he almost killed half of his family through that.

For me, Home Design Hotshot (100 excellent reviews in the architecture career) is probably the toughest, simply because of how long it takes (real-time especially, and also game-time).

I'd say the befriend 15 dogs (Canine Companion) and 15 cats (can't remember what this is called),and Firefighter Super Hero (save 30 sims from death) can get quite tedious as well.

Going to the library and reading the cooking skill books seems quite fast, from what I recall. Or of course if you have the multitab you can put it on while your Sim does other stuff.

Uhg, I know what you mean about the Culinary Career, I have two Sims in my Dynasty in this career - one is an Heir, it takes them two days for one promotion because the work hard pace just isn't hard enough, Lol. They always leave work with like a tenth of the bar left to complete even with full moods, spa package and maxed cooking.

On the other hand the Culinary Librarian is now one of the easiest in the game, with all Expansions and patched up to date you don't even need to read any extra recipes now, just the ones you unlock from maxing out Cooking count and exceed the 28 or so that you need to know.

I think that the Ambitions Lifetime wants are also pretty hard as they really do take a long time. In base game though it would have to be the Superstar Athlete because you just can't work hard in that career.

I've always thought that the maxing out Visa points for all world destinations might be hard, but I've never really attempted it.

Also, I think it's odd that people have issues with the Superstar Chef one.  It takes a bit of time, but no real thought or anything.  My sims aren't in much of a hurry, I guess.

Definitely Home Design Hotshot (100 great reviews). I gave up when my artistic Sim was near the top of the career and still had only 1 or 2 great reviews.

I had no trouble with the one sim band one, but it was at generation 9 in my legacy, so he didn't have to work.  He just sat at home in his house and played instruments all day, while his twin sister did all the gardening and money tree harvesting.

I've never completed the home design hotshot or firefighter super hero ones.  It takes forever to get that many good scores, or save that many sims, if you're playing on a normal life span.  Maybe it's easier on long or epic.

Descendant of DaVinci is challenging if your sim works.  You can't raise any of those skills on the multi-tab.  If they're self-employed in one of the skill careers, it's easier, but they still don't get much of a social life.

The adopting strays one seems like it would be really hard, because I've never managed to adopt a single stray cat or dog.  It takes forever to build the relationship and the strays don't always stick around for long, or they show up right when the sim has to go to work or sleep.

In my year and a bit of playing The Sims 3, I've still not played around with many Lifetime Wishes. I've never even had an architect sim, but I do have a firefighter with the Superhero LTW and it is taking so long! He's at level 10 and is nearly an elder and yet he has only saved 10 lives. (And I swear it must've been way more than that? Perhaps my game is bugged.)

I've done practically all base game and WA lifetime wants now, it was one of the things that prompted me to get more expansions as I had run out of things to try.

Generally I play on a custom longer life span so time isn't an issue but some were defintely harder than others, the do x amount of tombs one was relatively easy up to a point, so was the visa one, but then my adventure board got buggy and I had an awful job finishing that as I couldn't get into some tombs without the quest key, thankfully it sorted itself out after many days trying.

But doing both concurrently worked a treat, my sim did the visa LTW and her husband the tomb one (sorry I forget the exact names) and just him tagging along counted for his score. At home they were both in the police, super spys, so the athletic gained tombraiding helped their careers too.

Rabbit hole LTW's I generally find fairly easy, Surgeon has given me the most trouble in the past promotion wise, especially as my sim is neat and will keep putting her medical book away, being a bookworn never made her just read it unfortunately. Trying to find the time to learn the logic, read the medical book and keep her needs fulfilled when you get called back into work at all hours isn't easy.

I had a quick try at the architect one but I stupidly chose Bridgeport to try it in, not the best place for that as half the time you can't even get in the house or talk to the client.

I'm just about to complete Descendant of Da Vinci in my current game, she started as a teen which if you join the art club at school gives you a head start in painting and sculpting, I've been extremely lucky so far and she's only caught fire once. She rolled the sculpting career which was fine by me, I also sent them to china where I bought the incense burner and her husband has learnt mixology and makes skill gain drinks so she's had double brain power for faster learning. Also there's inventing books in the library which with her bookworm trait if i'd wanted she could have whizzed through those but I chose the workbench over books.

For me it's definately Home Design Hotshot. I've never completed it. Getting 100 reviews is hard enough in the space of a normal working life, but getting great reviews as well is impossible. I play on normal though, so maybe it's doable on long or epic lifespans.

The firefighter and investigator ones are also quite tricky. The firefighter one relies on luck, if you get an earthquake or two and mostly large fires you'll be fine, if you tend to get small fire or rabbithole disasters you'll struggle. Investigator is fine if you're working your sim around the clock but if you want normal working hours for them, forget it.

Outside of Ambitions (haha), the World Clas Gallery one is a bit of a pain because the collections don't always complete properly. But it's mainly the Ambitions ones I find challenging.

I think the Monster Maker one...tried it twice and haven't been able to accomplish it yet. Maybe it would be faster if I went with getting mummies, I dunno, but building a Simbot without cheats is brutal.

Home Design Hotshot - practically impossible unless you're playing on epic (and very, VERY boring - haven't got anywhere near finishing).  Firefighter Superhero depends on luck but I have only had one Sim finish it before elder on normal speed.  Pervasive Private Eye gets boring but can be done quickly if you keep getting cases (from PC or police station).

The adopting strays one seems like it would be really hard, because I've never managed to adopt a single stray cat or dog.  It takes forever to build the relationship and the strays don't always stick around for long, or they show up right when the sim has to go to work or sleep.
That one's really easy - just adopt pets from the shelter.

Haven't yet tried the cat and dog friend wishes...

Definetely Home Design Hotshot, and i see other people think the same way. I've had my sim age up to adult with no great rewievs. It's just to hard, like they couldn't make it fifty or twenty instead of 100 :P

For me it's definitely Surrounded by Family! I know it's actually one of the easiest ones, but I hate babies and toddlers so it becomes torture for me having to handle so many of them, so I always end up giving up.

Home Design Hotshot is also really hard, and the Descendant of Da Vinci too because it requieres a lot of time. The Monster Maker is also hard.

I find weird that others have trouble with the Five-Stars Chef one too. I've never had any trouble with it. It takes some time, but what I do is just designate that sim as the only chef in the family so he/she will cook all the meals.
