"Permanent" Terrain paintings?
« on: August 14, 2012, 08:21:03 AM »
I hope this is the right place to put this.

I'm working on a new version of Appaloosa Plains. I basically evicted and demolished everything and now I'm building from scratch. The thing is, some lots have painted terrain I can't erase! The Hydrangea House is a good example, but not the only one.  I also remember this happening in Riverview. My guess is that they have been painted in Create a World or in Edit World... Anyway, can I erase these terrain paintings somehow? How do I do it? Please note that I have less than zero experience with Create a World  :-[.

Thanks!

I'm sorry, this one has me totally stumped. I haven't really played with Create a World but a couple of times. Each time going WAY over my head. So I don't even know if you were to pull the town into Create a World if it would allow you to remove the terrain paints.

However, I know from personal experience you can not delete the terrain paints via the edit world. I've tried it with Riverview and it just didn't work.

Terrain Paints added in CAW can not be removed in game, they can only be covered by another terrain paint. You also can't edit an existing world with CAW, you can get a terrain and road version of Riverview and Sunset Valley but there are no lots in them.

Actually there are versions of all the worlds (at least until Pets), full built, for CAW. You can find the links here: http://www.carls-sims-3-guide.com/forum/index.php/topic,11775.0.html.  I dawnloaded the version for Appaloosa Plains but I can't figure out how to use the CAW tool so I'm stuck. Plus, I would have to start all over again and I'm not sure I want to.

I have tried to cover them with other terrain paintings, but for some reason the terrain is still a little darker where the old terrain painting used to be. I'm not sure if that's normal or if it's my graphics card or something. I cover them with grass or with flowers or with stone, but I can still see a darker area there.

Ah, I didn't know about that, thank you!  :) I don't notice darker patches on my game, how high/low are your settings?

Everything is between Low and Medium LOL. That could be the problem, now I think about it. I could try setting some stuff in High but I'm not sure my graphics card and my processor would handle that very well.
