Security gate not working

I installed a security gate on my property, since my sims are celebrities, and it seems like the gate isn't working.  Do they only work in Bridgeport or something?  My game is in Appaloosa Plains.  It's the only entrance into the wall I put up.  It seems like the paparazzi still somehow get inside my wall, and I've noticed my sims walking through the gate without it opening up.  I'm not sure what could be causing it.  It's annoying having the paparazzi standing around my front door and garage all the time.  I've taken to resetting them when I see them, but it'd be nice if I didn't have to do that.

My security gate has worked in every town so far.   You're absolutely certain that the fence around your property has no openings other than through the security gate?   Did you place your security gate with Move Objects On or did you place it on a fence the way you're supposed to?

Yeah, I just realized my mistake.  I left a gap in the fence for the gate, and put it in via moveobjects.  I ended up having to move the entire front facing of the fence back a square, I had it too close to the road and the gate was into the road, explains why it was red.  I think I got it right now.  Guess we'll see if I get any paparazzi in my yard again.
