PROLOGUE

My name is Colt Brooks and this is my story. I was born in Bridgeport, my family, generations had worked for or were “owned” by the mob. As long as I can remember, everything we had was not easy to come by, We did not live the life of luxury. My father as did his father, and his before him, shed plenty of sweat and blood for ppl so high up that they could care less if we lived or died.

I was an only child, my mother really didn’t want to a “brat” as she frequently called me, to tie her down. She wanted what all the “other” women she saw in the “family” had. Nice homes, cars, jewelery. She hated my dad and the fact that he never had the gall the move up in the family but that he was comfortable where he was at. Janice, was her name and that is what I was to call her. My dad, Tony Brooks, had grown up on the tough streets. Watching his dad work for his corner store, but I knew my dad had other means of employment. You don’t come home at night beat up from owning a store.

After I finished 6th grade that is when I learned what is meant to be a male in the Brooks family. I was taken before the “head man” and he told me what was expected of me. It started out simple. Stealing car parts, cars, and knocking off businesses at the end of the day for their day. By the time I had turned 17, I was beefed up. Working out at the local gym, a high school drop out. I thought I was the King of my block. No one messed with my family or friends. I’d broke more bones then an a earthquake.

My mother died the yr I turned 17, drowned in a pool at the home of one her “friends”. I think his wife came home found them and accused him of cheating with her. My dad and I never looked back. Janice was never part of our lives. So when she died, it was like a distant relative had passed. No love lost.

Right before my 20th birthday, my dad had been telling me strange things about a book and how I shouldn’t have to live like this and that my life should have more meaning. I should have a “real” job and settle down and have a family. I blew it off as the ramblings of an old man. I saw the book he was talking about beside his bed, he often fingered it, flipped through the pages. Every now and then a tear rolled down his eye.
That night we had to do a huge bank job, my dad and I, alone. Something wasn’t right, I could feel it. We never did these types of jobs alone. I heard my dad say “last one out” , that meant time to go. We went in, started our business, then out of no where, it happened, my dad was down, I looked up and say one of the bosses goons looking at me, and “he mouthed your next.”   Everything was in slow motion. I picked my dad up and ran, ran all the way to the Bridgeport bay. My dad looked me in the eyes and said, “Colt, I love you my son, go home get the book, YOU can change your life, change the path of the Brooks. Get out of Bridgeport and never look back.” Then a dark hooded man came, he pointed at my dad and laughed, “another Brooks male for my collection, sweet” then out of no where my dad shook his hand left with him.  He made me promise him that i would do as he asked, and a Brooks never went back on his promise.

A few weeks after the funeral, I packed my few things, grabbed the book and out fell a envelope. Inside was a deed to some property and bus ticket to a place called “Sunset Valley”. I had around 1800 in my pocket, so I left.

VOICE: Did you read the book? The one your dad gave you?
Colt: Well duh! Yes I did. I know what is expected of me. What I need to do change the Brooks Legacy and hopefully not meet the same fate as my ole man.

Rica, Colt and I had a nice long talk while on vacation.  He says he'll do his part as long as the "woman" stay out of the ambrosia this time and the kids do as they are told. LOL He was asking about the red guy also. I told him under no certain terms where they to EVER talk! LOL I think we would both be in trouble.

Also, yes he has some good genes, and can put out some great looking kids..

After Colt had a good long workout, he showered and left the gym. I found him later paying the Alto's a not so friendly visit....

Well to make a long story short, we all know what happens after the sign, they talk, chat, get to know each other. They move up the friendship meter, etc
Well, I'm not sure where or how the squid comes it to play with Colt's flirting. I'm not allowed to know ANY of his "secerts" LOL but it must have worked because Agnes fell for it Hook, line and sinker!! LOL Then came the flowers. Such a romantic. *cough cough*
