I received these free points as well. At first I was wary of clicking the link, but my curiousity overcame my caution and was rewarded with Simpoints.
Finally, a glitch that actually does something good for once. I feel bad for the people who didn't get any though, so I'll gift some of it.

I had an email a couple of weeks ago with a code to redeem 100 points for the same reason as someone else stated above which i thought i was odd as i registered all my games ages ago. Shame it wasn't for 1000 points, but 100 is better than nothing

When you register your game you get 1,000 points. I got them too

OK so I tried to register my games.  I got digital downloads from walmart.com and didn't realize it.  I would have preferred actual copies of the game.  I didn't see anything about them being digital downloads.  It was a two pack with The Sims 3 and Supernatural.

Anyway, I looked it up online and it says my games are registered on Origin but I tried to register them at The Sims store but it's one number too long.  It says clearly the registration code on the Origin website.  I checked my emails and probably deleted them after the games officially downloaded and thought I was all set.  I just wanted the free points, they can't hurt.
