well, the original comment was kind of rude too, because this is a thread in which many people are excited about Seasons, so to say "it's not worth the money" when it's not even out, especially when other people are excited about it?  Yeah, I did kind of think, why even post that?

I was wildly excited about Seasons, and I'm totally new to Sims (have been playing since the spring only) so I had no experience with Sims2 versions.  I'm still pretty excited but am kind of of torn, because Supernatural sounds cool too, now that I'm reading about people's game play experiences.  I can't afford to get more than one of the me, and more to the point, my little laptop will not be able to play more, so I have to choose one, and I can't decide (though right now I have Seasons pre-ordered on Amazon).

I personally wouldn't want a university EP.  I work at a university and would not find that fun in the least!  But I could see how others might enjoy it!

A tip for Jestina would be to voice her opinion starting with I think, but other than that I see nothing wrong with writing what she did.

No need to think, since I read what the content was. This seems more like it's going to be just a stuff pack and not much of an ep. I pass on fluff packs...like Showtime. We already had a rockstar career and then bands after that...which they should have revised instead of trying to milk more money from people with a superfluous ep. Weather is something that should have actually been in the base game...but I guess we should be used to these schemes by now. A higher education requirement would be nice to see for advanced careers but I doubt we'll ever see that with the way they buried the education career track.

i'm OK with Seasons being later then the base game, EA vastly improved it compared with The Sims 2 Seasons, also making a weather system that affects an entire world is complex, everything in the game is ran by coding, the game handles far more then the Sims you play. A EP adds gameplay which changes how things work, a SP just adds items. I wasn't a Seasons lover until I saw it. I was more excited for Supernatural, but every EP adds things for everyone, even if it's not the main theme you want. No one is scamming you or any other simmer, Showtime was a good EP, but besides that, it's a game. It's not easy to make a game, The Sims 3 is the most complex of any of The Sims games. The first two where centered on the home of the Sims, this one is centered on an entire town. EA might not be a perfect company, but they are the reason the game exists in the first place, so please don't bash them.
We are of peace, always but this is war.
We are of peace, always.
We'll help build a resistance. We have to fight.

When all you've ever loved has been stolen from you, sometimes all you have left is revenge.
For the truly wronged, satisfaction can be found in one of two places,  absolute forgiveness or mortal vindication. This is not a story about forgiveness. When deception cuts this deep, someone has to pay.

I am super excited for Seasons to get here! I loved it in the Sims 2 and I will love it in the Sims 3! I also loved University and hope they will make an expansion based on that as well. I agree in a way though as I thought seasons should have been included in the base game but then again if it was I am sure we would have had many more bugs then we do now! And seasons was an expansion for Sims 2 as well so it's ok! I like that EA makes expansion for the game instead of just making a whole other game and adding these things to it! To me it makes it more worth the money! This game can do so many things and has some much difference from player to player that it makes it great for almost anyone. So as I wish all of these things had been included in the base game I am glad they were not!

I'm kind of on the fence about this one. The new objects and clothes all look awesome, and the activities look like a lot of fun, swimming in the oceans and lakes if far overdue in my mind so I'm excited for that, and diving boards. I hope dogs can go swimming too. Halloween will be excellent as well. However, when I had Sims 2 Seasons, it was the weather that I did not like, I always set the little selector thingy to be summer all the time because all of the raking leaves and shovelling snow was super annoying in winter and fall. I'll probably end up buying it though. Just maybe not right away, like I usually do.

I am so glad I didn't pre-order when I did. I was going to get it before SN even came out but something told me to wait. Then I see that there are some pre-order content. Good things happen to those who wait as they say. I absolutely loved the TS2 Seasons EP. My favorite part were the leaf people. Does anyone remember the TS2 players? What were they called? Anyway I loved them.

Back on the topic: I believe seasons is worth my money and I'm one of those people begging for until  others were really annoyed with me :P I do buy every EP, because I just need to have it, kinda collecting. This one however was the one I was waiting for and the whole festival idea makes it even better!

I, too, am a collector. I have everything PC Sims related (except Sim Stories). So I'll be getting it to add to my collection. I am glad they have it as a separate EP. The fact that they do allows us to only have what we want in the game. As I said I have them all because I am a collector. But I never used the WA stuff. Never even traveled until this past month. I had it loaded because I was irritated with that being the one faded circle at the bottom of the launcher.

And now thaI have SN I am definately more irritated with the Zombies than I am loving the new plants and seeds. I can't even find a witch because I am always dealing with... Sorry I'm getting riled up and off topic.  >:(

Back to Seasons. Me personally I don't think about the cost. All of them from EP to SP are costly if you don't want to pay that price. It's about if you want it or not. And that's why I am glad it's not on the base game. Can you imagine how much it would cost if there were something as big as a Worldwide season change? I wonder what the weather will be like in Egypt, Paris, and China. And what a waste of money it would be for those who aren't really in a Season change?

I liked all the EP from TS2 and I see I'm not the only one. I enjoyed Out for Business and Apartment Life but Pets and Seasons were my favorite. I haven't had the chance to see werewolves yet in SN but I thought they were cool in TS2 Pets. I have been surfing the web on info for the upcoming EP, but I haven't seen anything on the Leaf people, though. But like I said, can't get everything we want.

I preordered the day it was announced.  To my understanding, I'll be getting that pre-order content too.  They did something similar with Supernatural as well.  I received the Origin pre-order set even though I pre-ordered before they figured out what it would be.  Makes sense to that they do it for ALL preorders, because if they didn't it'd discourage people that pounce on the EP like I do.  And believe me, LOL. I tackled the preorder for both SN and Seasons. Heheh.

I have been loving SN, and I am just bouncing impatiently for November to get here so I can poke at all the Seasons stuff.

I'm pretty excited about this EP, but I'm also hoping there is a way to turn the seasons off (so I'm glad to know you could do it in Sims2, which makes me hope that is true for Sims3 as well).  I want to have seasons in some of my towns, but I don't want to have seasons in Sunlit Tides....or at least, right now I think I don't!

I was excited about the idea of the ice-bar, though!  That will be fun to have!

From what I remember reading it is my understanding that Seasons will not affect the weather in the travel destinations! Can't remember where I read it but if I find it I will repost it here for you!

I was thinking about that too, I guess it makes sense for the destinations to not have weather, I mean it's unlikely to snow in egypt!

Yeah here is a Q & A with SimGuruRyan:
Q: Will weather be able to be taken into other EPs?

A: Yes, weather effects will be compatible with all previous expansion and stuff packs within The Sims 3 except for the vacation worlds in The Sims 3 World Adventures.

Here is that link: http://iplaysims.com/news/2012/08/02/the-sims-3-seasons-qa-with-simgururyan/

Edit: And here scroll down to Weather Control Options to read about the controls:

All kinds of new things announced in the Maxis broadcast:

A weatherstone for people who have both Supernatural and Seasons. Apparently, your occults can summon strange weather once they find it.

A Sims magazine for ipads and androids.

A new world coming in winter -- MonteVista, an Italianate hillside walled city with a wood-fired oven and recipes for pizza, calzones, and lasagna.

A new stuff pack coming in January -- 70's, 80's and 90's.

Not announced but strongly hinted at (2 people in a mascot costume and cap and gown danced across the stage) -- University.
When the Zombies Come(Completed)--100 Nooboos Nabbed
