Amen.
While I get it that the Sims franchise has been playful and usually ascedes to the desires of fantasy loving players, I yearn deeply for a more life-like playing experience. I want farms, I want shopkeeping. I DO NOT want more fantasy baloney.
But like every other EP -- and I own them all -- I play those game aspects I like and pretty much ignore the others. Being hit by a meteorite is an absurd notion; I can absolutely bank on it that one of my Sims, in any given game, will be hit by one. So, the first thing I do now is grow deathflowers from Buydebug. Zombies are a minor annoyance, but I fence them out or just ignore them. Just as certainly, aliens will be a minor annoyance. As of now, I figure I'll just force-age any resulting baby out of the game.
Exactly. I too play mainly the life-like experience. I have all the EP's and I just started traveling. And even then it's just to Egypt for my current story. Otherwise I wouldn't even do that. I loved the alien thing in the Sims 2, but no matter how long I was on that telescope I never got abducted. Now that it's here I can take it or leave it. I never had time to to the werewolf thing when I was doing TS2 Pets and with Supernatural I haven't even met or had the chance to make friends with a supernatural with the exception of the annoying Zombies.
I think the main idea of the Sims is being lost in all this. Which is their crude sense of humor. Why else have the ability to turn off every supernatural EXCEPT the most annoying?
It's just part of the fun. EA rocks. Like I said take it or leave it. Can't satisfy everyone right? That's why they have Mods and the cheat window. I used to save my games before I used the telescope. Just in case I did get an abduction and didn't like it. It is pretty random from what I remember. My point is that there is a work around. Just like with the zombies. Even for those like myself who are not a fan of Mods.
Seriously, it says that you're going to have the option as to whether you want it to take over the location of the park, and even if you did say yes, they're saying that you're going to have the original in the community lots bin.
Right. That's what I got from what I read on the Official Site's forum, it's not a forced thing. You have the option to not accept the new lot. I am not caught up on the whole thread yet so I have no idea what this Festival lot is. Secondly I don't really play in any of those worlds since I stay in Union Cove, but I don't have saved families that were in those worlds. Is there a way to copy and rename the current towns so that they don't get affected? I saw an 'Installed Worlds' folder so I can always copy and rename Riverview, Lunar Lakes, etc, but I didn't see a folder for the pre-installed worlds.
Will this new lot make it's way to the custom worlds? Like Union Cove?
Here are a link to a awesome new video!

I simply can't wait for this expansion.
That video had me at Trick-or-Treating. Thanks for sharing Louise! Much worth dealing with aliens and losing a couple lots. I'm not phased by the weather stone since I'm not playing with supernaturals but everything else seems so exciting. I am going to go nuts waiting for this to come now.
The producer's walkthrough has actually made me want Seasons more but not enough to want it before Christmas. The only downsides I can see with the whole expansion pack are 1. Alien abductions causing pregnant sims 2. Snow days (would be really bad in dynasty challenges where hounor role is required, other that it is okay)
I really do like the gift giving and feast and the slow dancing.
I'm not sure how it's going to be in TS3 but I don't recall snow days effecting the grades in TS2. It's not the same as skipping school.
I do wish they would bring the greenhouses back. They would be very helpful with the zombies. I mean I know we have the work around with the four walls and a roof but it's frustrating having my Green Thumb trait Sim be bothered by no flooring.
