That is very expensive. Is that the same or more than the base game?

I don't remember, I do remember the base games was $100.00 when it came out, I waited until EB Games had a big sale and got for $50, I think I got WA on sale too. Ambitions I got as a Xmas present, Generations was bought with vouchers I got for Xmas and Medievil base game and expansion I got with birthday money, lol. I think I got Late Night on sale too. I think I've only ever paid full price for Pets, Showtime, High End Loft, Town Life and Master Suite at full price. Stuff packs are about $50 here.  :(

Sadly my birthday is a long time away and I want to preorder both Seasons and Supernatural so it will be full price for those ones.  :(

Anyway this is going off topic, better stop before the Mods growl at us, lol.  :P

Geesh, that makes me feel lucky... Oh well, like you said, back on topic:
I am so excited for this expansion pack!  I didn't really used to think there was a whole lot for sims to do... nothing to use all of that spare time for exept for brushing your teeth!  Again, and again, and again....The main thing I am excited about is snowball fights...now my child and teen sims might actually have a real reason to break curfew!  And I heard somewhere that small pets could get covered in deep snow when it snowed a lot.(I heard this on sims wiki, it's ok, right?  Since it's a link on the guide, right?)  I think I've also heard that sims can get struck by lightning.  Another thing I read on sims wiki is that... they're adding new sports like soccer!  And snowboarding!  If there's one thing I have my heart set on... it's getting seasons before supernatural  I suppose I will be able to wait until my birthday, or chrismas for supernatural. Because I know that there is pretty much no way my mom would buy me two expansion packs at once, unless I did what she told me to do to the word... and lets face it... that won't be happening anytime soon. Gahhhh!  I just went off topic...again.

Be careful about anything you read on the wiki.   The wiki is written by fans so they will write anything that is rumor and not always fact.  Example is when the wiki said we were getting three versions of Supernatural - normal, harry potter and katy perry which was very much false since the only version right now is the limited edition.  SimsVIP is very good about only putting the facts on her fact sheet so that's a more credible source and the one I would go by.

I'm starting to wonder what I'm even going to pay for with this EP now. I mean yeah sure the Weather and stuff is cool but £30 seems very steep especially when one of the main features of it was swimming in the sea and ponds is now going to be added in a patch. I won't be rushing out to buy this I don't think, maybe wait till Christmas or something because at the moment it's not looking like it's worth the £30 price tag.
That's gotten me thinking too. The weather isn't even the part of the expansion pack I want so maybe this can be the first expansion pack I don't buy straight away and wait for the Christmas sales or not get at all.

Actually the weather is 100% in the EP.  Just like the festivals and seasons will be.  The only thing I've heard we're getting in the patch is swimming in open water.

I think you may have misread my post. I meant that weather isn't the part of the EP that I'm looking forward too.

You think that price is steep? Try living in New Zealand where expansions generally cost around $70 a pop.  :( Still getting it though, in spite of my complaints I still think it looks awesome!  ;)

You've got to consider the exchange rate with things like this.  70 New Zealand dollars works out to 36 British pounds, so it's not as much of a difference as it first seems.  Just wanted to point that out.  :)

Are you sure about swimming in ponds?  Everything I've read has only said swimming in the sea/ocean.

By the sound of it, yes:

For the first time in the Sims franchise sims will be able to swim in any body of water, it was announced on their Facebook page this afternoon with a link to the official site.

I would buy this EP no matter how much it were to cost because of the diversity it is going to add to the game. That being said, the exchange rate isn't the only thing to take into account when deciding if something is expensive, it is more of a cost of living thing too. Here in Canada we still pay slightly more (or in some cases a lot more) for things compared to the US even though our dollars have been more or less on par for two years.

Kindest Regards
KJ

The Base Game here sold at £30 and the Collectors Edition at £45. Although between the two prices that's about what I'd expect to see. I think I saw a picture of a Sim swimming in a pond, I can't remember quite, maybe it was just a picture of a sim swimming in a part of the sea which looked like a pond or something?

Swimming in the sea is the feature that I'm most looking forward to, so I may get the patch first, and wait until after Christmas (when it's likely to be reduced-price) to buy the EP... or otherwise drop heavy hints to my loved ones, about how awesome this EP looks, and how snow is absolutely, completely essential to a story... It looks like an amazing EP though, and I think it's going to add a *lot* to gameplay - as KJSinclair said, a lot of diversity. Which I'm a big fan of in almost every context, but in Sims3 gameplay, even more so!

I'm surprised that wild swimming is only allowed off-lot though - does anyone have any ideas (e.g. the way that sea behaves on a lot, as I've noticed it looks slightly differerent over a lot) as to why this is? It means that, slightly bizarrely, Sims can swim in the sea, but not if they go to a beach...

I. Am. So. Excited! It's just all the things that I've been waiting for! I usually decide whether to get a expansion or not before it even comes out. Sometimes I think "Wow, that looks incredible, I want to buy it!" but sometimes it's like "That looks average and I don't really want to waste all my money on it." The problem is that I go and buy all the expansions anyway and it's killing my laptop. But this one is definitely a "Wow that looks incredible, I want to buy it" expansion. Not too sure on Supernatural. Parts of me thinks it might be brilliant but I also think it might be rather annoying. I have enough problems with all the Townies turning into vampires without werewolves, witches, zombies, etc. Sorry, I'm going a bit off-topic!

Ok, Ricalynn, I went on sims vip... and....  We get soccer!  Wooohooooo!(and I don't mean that in the sims 3 way)  It also said there would be snowboarding, that we will be able to have control over the seasons, from what the pictures looked like, it seems like we might be able to customize umbrella's, but I'm not to sure on that.  It also looked like snowboarding and soccer ball isn't going to be a rabbit hole.  I saw it with my own eyes!  Also it said that sims can get struc by lightning, which is awesome, but the only new death type I read about is freezing to death.  Which is kind of weird because I think if you get struck by lightning you have more of a chance to die than you do if you get hypothermia.( Which is pretty much the equivilant of freezing to death, right?)  It also said that we would be getting some diseases, like colds, and I think I read something about hay fever or allergies, or something like that.  I can't remember anything else I read but this expansion pack looks like it might top ambitions and supernatural combined!

Yes the new death with Seasons is freezing to death (aka hypothermia).  Yes you can customize your umbrellas.  They talked about in one of the blogs I linked to in this thread that you can also upgrade your umbrella to become a strange glow stick type item so you can see at night.
