Welcome Electra! I thought it was adorable when Devon said, 'You're a bit different than scrap metal and wire and I can't exactly use a blowtorch around you.'
Happy birthday Zoey! Poor girl having to be away from her Boy Friend for so long.
RIP Geoffry, Devon was so close to him  :'(.

I think that Devon's character has taken on a life of its own, because I was struggling mightily trying to figure what to write for that part and those words just happened. :P

As far as Zoey is concerned...remember the old saying goes, "absence makes the heart grow fonder". :)

Great update.  Bittersweet is very apt.

RIP Geoffrey Landgraab, you are an icon.

I love the name Electra for Devon's baby.  What better name for the child of such an eccentric inventor.  Loooooove it!

Personality-wise I think that Geoffrey is one of my favorite SV townies, so it kind of made me tear up when he passed. I got the notification that he was dying at midnight, but didn't realize that I would actually witness it until I brought Judd and Elly to the club that night and saw him dancing. Seeing a golden opportunity I cancelled Malcolm and Darlene's actions (they were watching TV) and brought them over. Sure enough, less than one sim hour later he was gone.

Electra is just a fun name. :)

Thanks!

R.I.P Geoffrey. :( Very sad but beautiful update. :)

<sniff> I hate it when favorite sims die. It's really going to kill me when eventually I lose my two main characters here. I'm really quite attached to Ethan and Holly...

I'm late with this reply because I got confused.
The first picture scared the hell out of me. At first, I thought Ethan had died!
It's good to know that he is the one who writes this update. Thank you for answering my PM, Raia. His comment about Arlo totally escaped me the first two times I read your post (my bad).

R.I.P. Geoffrey. There is no doubt that he left a huge gap behind, but... he went in style!
Malcolm does him proud. To see him console the others was sad, but very endearing.
I felt so touched by Devon: “Hey there little girl. I...I guess I'm your daddy, huh? I hope you don't mind.”
I wish they had a smiley icon with a smile and a tear for that.
Aw! Kenji... that's hard to deal with at any age, let alone, his.
I'm happy, yet sad for Zoey and Andrew, but their love can withstand the test of time and their future looks bright.

You have a wonderful way of conveying emotions, Raia. This story is full of soul. :)

I totally apologize for the confusion! Rereading that first part I can see what you mean, and yeah, that would scare me too. I'm about four chapters ahead in my gameplay and can safely say that he is still alive and well at this point. :)

Devon is a wonderful daddy. He plays with Electra autonomously and hasn't once set the swing on high. In my game, that is an impressive feat.

Kenji's day will come. Soon, in fact...

Zoey and Andrew both got the Eternally Faithful moodlet the day after graduation. I was very happy about that. Let's just say that I have grand plans for the two of them. ;)

Thank you, SimBlip. I suppose one could say that I have had many positive literary influences here on the site, and your story would be one of them. It's hard not to feel emotion for these characters, but sometimes conveying it can be a challenge. I said this before...but it's going to be very hard for me to write when either Ethan or Holly go. I was bawling writing Judy's death way back when. :P

Up next: A season of change is upon the household. Timothy deals with a vindictive CEO, Devon makes a critical decision, Malcolm comes to terms with old age, Kenji finds someone something to make him smile...and Zoey realizes her future.

A wee bit of a spoiler for one of the minor plot points (just because it rather blew me away):

Two Worlds, One Heart - Chapter 51

Chapter 51 – Life, Love, and Changes

A quick shout-out to my wonderful husband. Happy twenty-sixth anniversary, handsome, and here's to at least twenty-six more.

Things have been rather busy of late. We just got finished moving Devon and his family out to the Estate and we're all a bit exhausted from the effort.

It has been a long time coming, really. Geoffrey's passing left his family with a massive inheritance, with most of the monetary assets going to uncle Malcolm to distribute as he saw fit. Iris and Timothy received ownership of the family business, which Timothy is now managing (ousting the previous and rather corrupt CEO, which is its own story entirely). The two grandchildren and Amaya were left with trust funds, and Devon inherited the estate on Summer Hill.

It didn't take long for Devon and Nadia to decide what they wanted to do. Nadia has always wanted a large family, something that isn't terribly feasible in a multi-generational home such as ours. Surely enough, almost as soon as they announced their plans...

So after months of sorting, packing, and cleaning (and Devon designing a new “protection array” for the place...I don't ask anymore) the day finally came. All in all the move went smoothly, despite my very emotional aunt. “They'll do fine,” uncle Malcolm reassured her. “We've done well in raising Devon, even if he is a little...odd. And if something does happen, we're seven miles away.”

Devon and Nadia do seem genuinely happy about being on their own and are super-excited about the impending arrival of baby number two. Now I am left to only wonder...do they really plan on having five children?

Anyhow, I must digress.

About a month after Dad's last entry we celebrated uncle Malcolm's sixty-fifth birthday. He may have entered his forties kicking and screaming, but this time around he seemed fairly content with the whole deal.

My uncle celebrated in style, with a cherry vanilla cake (courtesy of Kenji) and more than enough family to go around.

It was one thing to see my parents growing older. You kind of expect that with parents, but I first met uncle Malcolm when he was still in high school. He and aunt Darlene have been more like a big brother and sister to me than anything else. Seeing my uncle reach elderhood...now that was just surreal.

They celebrated in their own way that night with a trip to the symphony and a quiet dinner at the Bistro, then ended their evening with an old sappy movie in the den. I don't think they were paying too much attention to the film, however.

Iris still pretends to gag whenever she sees them being romantic like that. :P

That very next day uncle Malcolm high-tailed it to the hospital to take care of the paperwork for his retirement.  A fitting end to a spectacular career. Congratulations, uncle M—you've earned it.

I find it almost amusing, now that I look back on those photos from my uncle's party. Timothy actually looks quite a bit different nowadays. I'm not quite sure what may have prompted it, whether it was his sudden promotion to CEO or the realization that he would be forty in a few years, but he decided that it was time for a change and started working out.

And change he most certainly did. Amazing, isn't it? It shocked the heck out of Iris. While she was quite happy that her husband was living healthier, she did have one complaint: “He's not quite as...cuddly anymore.”

That part certainly didn't hinder their romance though. I'm half surprised that Marcus doesn't have a younger sibling by now.

The kids are doing pretty well. Marcus has been on Dad's computer every opportunity he gets, or rather he was up until about a week ago. He got into a bit of trouble when Iris caught him chatting online at 1 a.m. on a school night, and now he's grounded from using the computer until the end of the school year.

Marcus is not a happy camper right now, needless to say.

Amaya is...Amaya. She fancies herself a blooming fashionista and is constantly scrutinizing peoples' wardrobes. While her eye for style is pretty keen, she does need to work a bit on her tact. Telling Kenji's best friend that he needed a less ugly shirt was not the best way to start a conversation, even if Roman did laugh it off.

(For the record, I didn't think his shirt was that bad...)

Kenji was a bit embarrassed by the incident. He embarrasses terribly easily these days. My son wears his emotions on his sleeve. That is why, when all of the sudden he became very cheerful and light-hearted a few months back, I knew there had to be a good reason why.

It would appear that Kenji is back on the dating scene.

Her name is Karina, and actually she and Kenji used to be playmates way back when they were both still in kindergarten. Somehow they lost contact over the years but recently began to reconnect...in a very big way.

She has been over to the house a few times, and I quite like her. So far Karina seems very down-to-earth and has no pretenses when it comes to Kenji. It's still very early on in their relationship, but I have high hopes.

And yes, I do realize that I probably just embarrassed my son by even mentioning this. He probably won't talk to me for a week once he finds out there's a photo of him and Karina kissing on the family blog. Sigh...teenagers.

Moving on.

Zoey has been doing exceptionally well—more than well, actually. She breezed through the academy in the span of a few months and is now a full-fledged firefighter.

I know that it's a dangerous job, and truth be told I worry about her every day that she is at the station. At the same time, though, I know that Zoey has the training to keep her safe. According to uncle Arlo she's one of the best he has seen in over forty years on the force. That in itself is enough reason for a mother to be proud.

Wonderful as that is, though...it pales in comparison to what happened two months after she finished the academy.

It started out as a typical Wednesday. Zoey was in the middle of her morning routine of engine maintenance when the captain called over to her.

Sekemoto! You have a visitor!”

“Yes, sir.” She quickly finished what she had been doing and headed outside. Near the front engine bay door was a very familiar and welcome face. This wasn't just any visitor.

Her beloved soldier was home.

Andrew!”

Andrew Goth had returned from Twinbrook. He was a bit leaner, more muscular, and had a lot less hair than he did when last we saw him. Not that the details mattered to Zoey. Her sweetheart was back, and that was all she cared about.

Until...

“Zo, I need to ask you something,” Andrew began.

“Sure, what's up?”

“These last few months have been some of the most difficult,” he began. “Training was a challenge, sure, but that was far from the hardest part. The hardest part...was being away from you.”

Tears came to Zoey's eyes as Andrew got down onto one knee.

“I don't ever want to be away from you like that again. I want to be by your side for the rest of my life, if you'll have me. Zoey Leah Sekemoto...will you marry me?”

Zoey could hardly speak through her tears. She nodded and held out her left hand, which Andrew eagerly took in his own. Gently he slipped the sparkling gold band upon her finger. It was a perfect fit.

“Oh Andrew...”

She threw her arms around him and kissed him.

“So I take it that's a yes?” Andrew laughed.

Yes!”

Everyone was just ecstatic when they came home and told us the news. I don't think I need to say that Judd and I approve.

My little girl is getting married!

Now if you will excuse me, I have a wedding to help plan. Don't worry, I'm leaving it mostly to Zoey and Andrew, but you'd better believe that Bella and I are already talking. :)

Cheers,

Elysia

--

(A/N: Yes...I moved Devon and family out. <ducks the inevitable rotten tomatoes>. See...Nadia's LTW when I moved her in was Surrounded by Family, and there was no way that I would be able to do that and still keep them in the house. Since the Estate was available after Geoffrey's death it made sense that Devon would “inherit” the place.

I needed to make room for Andrew moving in anyway. :) Devon will still play a major role in the rest of the story. He is far too much fun to leave out of the picture!

For once I didn't have to use eye bleach when one of my sims aged up to elder. Malcolm's appearance was shockingly un-awful. :P

Thanks for reading, and happy weekend!)

Also congratulations to Malcolm on his birthday and retirement!
Devon must be over the moon with his new house and how wonderful for Timothy to become CEO of the family business.

Zoey and Andrew are adorable together, congrats to them!
Sad Devon had to move out, but it makes total sense if they wanted to have five kids, it would be hectic in the house.
Karina is pretty, hope it works out between her and Kenji!

I know I haven't commented in forever, but today I finally managed to read everything I missed. And can I just say wow. I love this story so much, and how you manage to bring each individual out loud and clear.

I need to comment more too. I love how far this story has gone from Holly and Ethan, while still being so close to them as well, if you get what I mean. I can't wait to see all of Devon and Nadia's kids, I completely understand why you moved them out though! It must be so difficult to deal with as many as you have, I struggle with eight!

Thank you. :) After Ethan aged up with that horrendous shaved look and puffy coat I had little hope for Malcolm. He got darned lucky.

I'm loving Zoey and Andrew together. :)

Happy birthday, Mr RaiaDraconis!

Mr. Draconis says thanks. :)

I do hope that story progression allows Devon and Nadia to have the five that they want. I'm a bit further ahead in the gameplay and they still only have the two. Come on guys, get moving!

Karina is actually Parker's granddaughter, which actually makes her and Kenji second cousins once removed since Kenji's grandmother was Zelda Mae. :o I didn't realize this until long after I had established their relationship, and it rather startled me when I made the connection. The Sims doesn't track relations beyond cousins, so she's still fair game...right?

Having just played through the wedding I can say that no fires were set, but it was pleeeenty eventful without it. This is quite possibly the most chaotic one yet.

Zoey and Andrew are adorable together, congrats to them!

Karina is pretty, hope it works out between her and Kenji!

Zoey and Andrew are such an adorable couple. Almost all of their autonomous interactions with each other are romantic.

Truthfully I didn't really want to let Devon go either, but the house was back to overflowing and it made the most sense for him to be the one to leave. Besides, I don't think I could have handled five kids on top of the menagerie I already have. :P

Most likely it will. Her traits are much more compatible with Kenji and I haven't yet seen her cheat, which is a big plus.

I know I haven't commented in forever, but today I finally managed to read everything I missed. And can I just say wow. I love this story so much, and how you manage to bring each individual out loud and clear.

I'm so glad to see that you're back! Thank you so much, truly. I really love these characters and I'm so glad that you are enjoying them too. (Please tell me you plan to update your dynasty...? I miss them!)

I see what you mean. Holly and Ethan have kind of taken a step backward to let the younger generations have their say, but still keep up with things. They're still so lovey, and I think at least so far they're the cutest elder couple I've played.

So far Electra is a toddler and nooboo 2 is still a burrito, and as I mentioned earlier no sign of others just yet. I do plan on showing miss Electra next update though. She is a little doll.

Dealing with so many is definitely a challenge and I think I'm starting to find my limit. I've self-imposed a household max of sixteen at this point, and even then it can take me well over an hour to play one sim day if there is a lot going on.

Thanks. :)

Coming up: A trio of birthdays and a party! Kenji embraces young adulthood, Marcus and Amaya begin their crazy teenage years, and a certain groom-to-be parties the night away...with a bunch of old men?

Two Worlds, One Heart - Chapter 52

Chapter 52 – Iris's Journal – The Party Crashers

And now, introducing the newest member of the family. Everyone, please give a warm welcome to Angelia Iris.

Yeah, I'm flattered. :) Who wouldn't be, sharing your name with an adorable kid?

Then there's little miss Electra, who is two now and ridiculously cute.

I've got to hand it to my little brother; Devon is one heck of a dad. He may be a complete fruit loop, but he is a gentle, loving guy and Electra and Angelia just adore him. Dev, if you're reading this, I apologize for being such a jerk when we were younger. All right, so you're a little off-the-wall and a bit too obsessed with aliens, but you're totally okay. :)

There. I finally came clean.

These last twelve months have been busy, but in a good way. First off, uncle Ethan and aunt Holly celebrated their fifty-second wedding anniversary. It's not exactly a milestone, but aunt Holly made the point that “At our age, every year matters.”

Man, I hope that Timmy and I are like that when we're in our seventies.

A couple of months later saw the first of three major birthdays in the house. First up was Kenji, who I seriously can't believe is already eighteen.

In light of all of the wedding prep surrounding his sister, Kenji opted for his own quiet birthday celebration. He claimed it was just to avoid stressing out his mother even more. A nice enough gesture to be sure, but he had an ulterior motive. What he really wanted was to just spend his birthday with Karina.

And so he did. We...really didn't see them for most of the day, actually. The two of them surfaced later on for dinner, but that was about it.

The entire family turned out for Kenji's graduation the next day. Elly was in tears at the sight of her little boy in his cap and gown—and he was the valedictorian, no less!

(Don't my aunt and uncle look so proud?)

Then a few months later came the two birthdays that I really couldn't believe.

Someone pinch me. How is it that my son is now a teenager?

So far Marcus is doing quite well with high school. He is already in junior-level math classes and is taking advanced computer programming...as an elective. Yeah, I gave birth to a computer geek...and I mean that in the most endearing way possible.

I do worry about his social life though. As in he has none. Marcus would much rather spend his time on the computer. He says that he much prefers to chat with his friends online than in person. Here's hoping it's just a phase. Maybe getting him his own computer for his birthday wasn't the wisest of ideas...?

My little sister on the other hand is the exact opposite, being quite the social butterfly.

Remember this guy? Kenji's friend Roman? Well...

It would appear that Amaya has gotten over the whole “ugly shirt” thing. ;)

It's been a bit more than a year since Andrew and Zoey got engaged, and only recently were they able to set a date for the wedding. About a month after he proposed Andrew's unit was suddenly deployed to Pleasantview to help deal with the aftermath of an earthquake. Yeah, neither he nor Zoey were particularly thrilled about it, but it wasn't as if they had a choice in the matter.

At least it had afforded more time for planning, and when you have aunt Holly, Elysia, Mom, and Bella all wanting to have their say...it became very chaotic very quickly. They were starting to drive Zoey up the wall, if you want to know the truth. Finally she just gave up and said “Just tell me the time and the place and Andrew and I will be there, okay?”

She was joking...sort of.

The groom-to-be finally returned a couple of months ago, much to Zoey's delight. With Andrew back home things seemed to settle down and Zoey was able to relax somewhat.

Fast forward to last night—the night of the long-awaited and much anticipated bachelor party for one Andrew Michael Goth. I swear he invited half of the town, including Dad and uncle Ethan, much to their mutual shock.

(Note the two retired doctors in their natural habitat: the chess table.)

I don't know, Andrew, are you sure you want a couple of old farts putting a damper on your good time? (Kidding! Don't kill me, Dad!)

Our original plan was for the ladies to have a girl's night in, complete with chick flicks, popcorn, and plenty of chocolate. That idea lasted for a whole ten minutes. Aunt Holly wasn't feeling too well and decided to go to bed early (she's fine, don't worry), and horror of horrors, Elly forgot to get the chocolate, which might as well be a cardinal sin as far as my mother is concerned.

So what are a bunch of bored ladies to do on a Friday night when the guys are out having fun?

Crash the party, of course. :) The four of us dressed in our party finest and zipped over to the dance club, where we were greeted by two very familiar faces.

Dress to impress must be a relative term. I sure wasn't impressed. Mortimer Goth in a powder blue tux just doesn't seem...right. Neither does uncle Mike in a cowboy hat, for that matter. And then, just when I thought it couldn't get any worse...

Ew, Dad. Just...ew.

Things had only just gotten started. No one seemed terribly surprised that we were there, and actually Andrew looked rather happy to see Zoey.

After which he was promptly dragged away by his best friend.

It's pretty well known around town that Irwin Hart is...not all there. Insanity merely skipped a generation in his family, so when he decided to propose a toast in honor of his soon-to-be married friend, none of us knew exactly what to expect.

It was remarkably coherent, actually. Full of the standard “I remember him when” and “I'll never forget that one time” and the inevitable embarrassing story from his childhood. Andrew was a good sport, even when Irwin tried to drown him in fizzy nectar.

There must be some unwritten rule about bachelor parties and fizzy nectar. They seem to go hand in hand.

It was at that point when Devon realized that something was a bit different about Timothy. He hadn't seen my husband since he had lost so much weight and was rather taken aback by the change.

“The aliens stole part of you, didn't they?”

Timmy just laughed. “Aliens had nothing to do with it. More like the treadmill, actually.”

“Whew, that's a relief. You know they have this probing mechanism that can literally suck the life right out of you? They're sneaky like that.”

Oy.

The rest of the night was filled with drinks and laughter and thankfully devoid of party dancers (though from what I heard aunt Lisa tried). There was much dancing, and Zoey and Andrew did more than their share of flirting.

Irwin did more than his share of weird creepy things.

Mom and Dad partied the night away and were actually among the last to leave. As much as I tease them, they still never cease to amaze me.

But the night, ultimately, was all about Andrew and Zoey, and the new life that they are about to embark upon. Tomorrow they will leave the single life behind and embrace their future together, hand in hand, heart in heart.

Heh. Look at me, waxing poetic. I must be in serious need of coffee or something. Either that or I'm getting old, though if anyone ever tells me that thirty-nine is old I might have to smack them.

Laters,

Iris

---

(A/N: I started cracking up when I saw what Michael Bachelor was wearing to the bachelor party, and about choked when I saw what Malcolm changed into. Iris's reaction was actually my reaction. :P I guess the term “dress to impress” has a different meaning when you're an elder...?

I didn't add this to the story but Darlene tried to die on me again at the party. One of the hot tubs at the dance club busted and she tried to fix it. Zzzap! Dead. Then Grim laughed at her and brought her back to life. Man I love the Unlucky trait sometimes...but it was super-sad watching Malcolm bawling his eyes out. I might eventually post the pics of this as outtakes.

Next up—a wedding! Thanks so much for reading!)

Ethan and Holly are so adorable together, especially as elders. They're always popping wishes to be romantic with one another. :) The bachelor party was a blast to play, but rather chaotic--especially when someone gets electrocuted.

Never let an Unlucky sim try to repair anything.

Everybody crowded into the hot tub room, which is only about 9 x 7 and caused a lot of routing issues and much complaining. I actually did have party dancers show up, but Darlene "died" right as they were about to start so they never got a chance to do their thing.

...the part that broke my heart. :( All was well in the end though.

Lovely fun update.  I like the picture of Malcolm on the dance floor.   :D

Malcolm is just fun, probably one of my favorite sims to play, actually. He has the funniest expressions, and that outfit he changed into...oh my. :o

Thanks!

Irwin is just adorable. He married his sweetheart (Pauline's daughter) literally the next day. Still no grandkids for Bebe, though...at least not yet. :) Devon actually never interacted with Irwin, oddly enough. He was mostly just dancing and barking at everyone. Er, so was Irwin, actually.

I can't wait to post the wedding! That is, once I can figure out how to write it. I'm fighting off a touch of writer's block right now. :o

That's actually one of my favorite parts too. :)

Thank you all so much. Hugs!
