@ Katie - Just to warn you, it is rather addicting.
Chapter 39 - A Rocking Grand EntranceIt was a pleasant surprise, finding out that I was pregnant when I did. At that point we had had about as much bad news as we could handle for one year. It was certainly nice to have something that we could finally smile about after dealing with so much trauma. Mom and Dad were more than excited about the prospect of having a second grandchild to
spoil rotten love.
I have to admit, I have actually enjoyed being pregnant. When Zoey was on the way I was nervous and didn't know what to expect, but this time around I was much more able to enjoy the experience.
The morning sickness part, however, was certainly not so enjoyable—even less so when it is in a public restroom and not in the privacy of your own home. Yuck.
The rest of the afternoon made up for it though. Judd and I had spent most of that day jamming at the park and generally having a good time. A few people joined us off and on, and Doctor Geoff even showed up and played for a while. For a total novice he isn't bad at all.
I started feeling a bit under the weather again so I took a break and managed to run across an old family friend. Unfortunately we don't get to see much of the Goth family anymore, what with Mortimer being tied down to his job (it takes a lot to run a country) and Bella taking care of the newest addition to their family.
It was nice to see her again. I told Bella that she and little Andrew were welcome to come over at any time. Our two toddlers would probably have a blast playing together, and I know that aunt Darlene would be thrilled to get the chance to catch up with her old schoolmate.
The next few months seemed to go by like a blur. Thankfully the morning sickness abated by the beginning of my fourth month...but that was when the cravings started to kick in. BIG time. Never in my life have I been so happy to have a mom who could cook.
Have I mentioned that she makes a killer key lime pie? Best of all, she was willing to make it at five in the morning. Mom, you rock.
(Edit: Why thank you, Elly. - Mom)I am, however, a bit peeved that I was forced to take such a lengthy maternity leave. All right, so there is the
outside chance that
maybe an experiment could explode in my face, or
minutely possible that one of the carnivorous plants might think of me as more than its caretaker and want a sim snack.
Hmm, now that I really think about it, perhaps being placed on maternity leave wasn't
such a bad thing after all. The last thing I want to do is endanger my baby.
So I've been playing stay-at-home mom for the past five months. It's not so bad, other than being a bit stir-crazy. At least I get to spend some precious time with Zoey.
Of course, getting a bit of extra attention from Judd is always a perk.
Hanging around the house has also afforded me the opportunity to work on my painting skill. It had been several years since I had even picked up a brush, but slowly it all started coming back to me.
I guess you could say that I was inspired by Mom's success. She has become one of the premier artists in Sunset Valley and her work is now being shown in museums as far away as Bridgeport and Lucky Palms. How impressive is that?
It's never a dull moment in this household though. Just wait for a few days and something off the wall is bound to happen. Lately
someone has been going around pulling pranks...
Both of my cousins deny being involved. I have my suspicions as to whom is responsible, but so far he is refusing to fess up. Why do I think it's Devon and not Iris? I don't think she has much time for pranking right now...especially after coming across
this scene late one night.
My uncle was pretty nonchalant about the whole thing, though aunt Darlene just about lost it when she found out. We had to remind her that yes, Iris was seventeen, and yes, she and Timothy were just being normal teenagers in love. It was no worse than anything that Judd and I had done, or any of our parents for that matter.
(Edit: Allow me to remind you that you too were a teenager once, little sis. Turnabout is fair play. - Ethan)(Another edit: Oh fine...spoil my fun. - Darlene)Like I said, never a dull moment.
A while back Mom mentioned that we sort of have our own rock band going. Not that we ever plan to make anything of it (Judd is quite busy with the quartet, for one) but we have fun just the same. Just because a woman is nine months pregnant does not mean she can't rock out on the drums!
Either my son really liked what he heard and wanted to be a part of it or hated it and wanted it to stop, because he chose that moment to announce that he was on his way...in a very painful fashion.
That put an abrupt end to our jam session and sent everyone into a tizzy. Except for Devon, of course. A firecracker could go off next to him and he probably wouldn't care.
Fortunately Judd was already on his way home from the theater, so as soon as he got back we went straight for the hospital. We didn't have long to wait; almost as soon as we arrived I felt the need to start pushing, and in less than an hour our son made his way into the world.
Without further ado, allow me to introduce you to our baby boy, Kenji Christopher Sekemoto. Judd and I decided to name him after both of our fathers; Kenji is Leighton's middle name, and Christopher is my dad's.
I am already in love.
