Wow, congratulations to Ethan for working for 47 long, tiring, but memorable years at the hospital. At least he left at a high. Devon and Nadia look sweet together, and it's good to see Devon out and about.
I, too, was pretty scared and frightened.
Yeah that bald head was a pretty scary moment!
Nadia looks so cute with Devon and Zooey is a stunner! So beautiful!
Some sims look fantastic bald or close-shaven. Ethan is not one of them.
I was also pleasantly surprised with Zoey. She very clearly favors her father's side minus the hair and the eye color. The Sekemoto genes are strong...and that is a good thing.
Thanks for the comments!

Chapter 47 – Iris's Journal – A Crazy Thing Called LoveI'm sitting here at the computer with a very amused toddler on my lap.
Marcus makes a fun typing companion. He is just in awe of what is on the screen and fascinated by all of the buttons and keys. Now if only I could keep him from pressing random letters while I'm trying to write, we'll be all set. (Seriously, I just had to delete a good two lines worth of gibberish from his “typing.”)
So, where were we...
Oh yeah, uncle Ethan's retirement. If I could describe him in one word, it would be this: content. He's the happiest that I think I've ever seen him, well, save when Zoey and Kenji were born. It is as if he doesn't have a care in the world.
Though why exactly he has chosen now to take up trampoline jumping is anyone's guess. Dude, you're going to
break something if you're not careful! At least Dad is always around in case something does happen. I swear I'm never letting Marcus near that thing.
He and aunt Holly had something to celebrate a few months after his retirement became official—their forty-fifth wedding anniversary. Can you believe it?
To celebrate they packed up the car and went out on a camping trip at the beach. Elly was a little miffed at first that they didn't want to celebrate with the family, but Mom reminded her that sometimes it's nice just to be alone. I mean let's face it, with fourteen people in the house privacy is at a premium.
It was a beautiful night. Aunt Holly told me later that they spent hours on end sitting on the sand, just talking and enjoying being together. Sitting in the quiet of night and watching the stars reminded her of when they first began dating those many years ago. It was as if the decades had melted away and they were teenagers again.
They've been through so much in these past forty-five years and are still going strong. Here's to many more years together. You two really are an inspiration.
Not too long from now we will be celebrating another anniversary in the household. Mom and Dad are approaching number thirty-seven, and are just as gooshy as ever.
That sort of thing used to gross me out. I mean, who likes to walk into the living room and see their parents getting all romantic on the couch? Now it doesn't bother me nearly so much. That they were childhood crushes and are still this much in love so many years later is an awesome thing.
How adorable is
that?
(Edit: Where the heck...someone actually took a picture of that? - Darlene)(Another edit: You weren't the only one handy with a camera, sis. - Ethan)You know, now that I look back through the early blog entries I notice that no one has ever mentioned how Mom and Dad got together in the first place. They were playground buddies way back in elementary school and just sort of hit it off from there. According to Dad he was attracted to her devil-may-care attitude and free spirit. She knew how to have fun and didn't mind him tagging along.
Apparently grandma Nancy saw Mom as a bad influence and tried her best to keep them apart, even going so far as to inquire about sending Dad to boarding school so he would have more “proper” company. Fortunately grandpa Geoffrey would have nothing of it.
Heh. Mom a troublemaker. At least I know where I get it from.
They started dating in earnest almost as soon as Mom entered high school, and I believe that you know the rest from there.
Dad is a total sap when it comes to romance and Mom certainly doesn't mind.
Aaand
that would be why I have a baby sister.
Love is definitely in the air and no one, it seems, is immune to its effects. My cousin Roger is now dating one of Elly's old high school friends, Sylvia Frio. Er well, I guess it's a little bit more than dating since they are now expecting a baby. Neither of them seem to mind this development and are actually pretty excited about it, albeit a bit shell-shocked.
Middle age hasn't slowed Elly and Judd down at all. Would you believe that they're about to hit their twentieth anniversary? Time really does fly when you're having fun.
Then of course there's me and Timmy. Even as crazy busy as we are between work and raising a toddler we still try to find the time to be together.
Now
that was a fun date, even if we went a little too crazy with the drinks. Timmy called it a “taste testing experiment”. He has started to dabble a bit in mixology, though his results thus far have been somewhat...mixed.
Something that Dad found out the hard way. “You might not want to drink that,” I warned him.
“That...was vile,” he rasped out once the coughing and sputtering had mostly subsided. I was laughing too hard to say “I told you so.”
Not too long after that happened we had the chance to attend our best friends' wedding. Cassie and Wesley started dating not long after Timmy and I were married, and now it was their turn to tie the knot. It's about time, guys—you've only been engaged for three years.
As long as they waited to actually marry they sure as heck didn't waste any time in starting a family. Cassie called me just last week to tell me the news that she was expecting!
That wasn't the only reason why she called though. She and I have been talking a lot lately about...something. See, Cassie knows this guy, and I know this girl, and both of us think that they would make the perfect couple, but so far they just don't seem to be getting the hint. I won't go into any more details because we're trying to keep it somewhat hush-hush.
Hmm, I may have already said too much...
Anyway, I saved the best part for last. You know how Devon and Nadia have been dating? My crazy brother actually got up the nerve to do something that none of us expected.
He proposed to Nadia—and she said
yes.
I hesitate to say that theirs is a match made in heaven just yet. A match made in the loony bin would be a more apt description. Still though, Devon appears to be genuinely in love with Nadia, and the feeling seems to be mutual.
I'm happy for them, truly I am, but is anyone
else as frightened as I am about the prospect of my brother actually having kids? Not going to think about it...not going to think about it.
Ugh, I'm thinking about it. Maybe I'll go and meditate for a while and clear my mind. Yeah, that sounds good. Calm inner sea. Calm...relaxed...ahhh.
(A/N: I came to discover that it is exceedingly difficult for two insane sims to get engaged. It took me EIGHT tries to get one of them to accept, and that was with their relationship bar maxed, the same zodiac sign, and two identical traits.)
