I'm getting bored!
« on: July 24, 2012, 09:32:57 PM »
Alright well when I first got Sims 3 I was so excited! I played it all day, every day, for at least 2 weeks. Then  things started to get drab. I didn't know what to do, I'd done just about everything I could do. So I said to myself "I'm going to get just one expansion pack, Genrations" 2 weeks later, I find myself buying Late Night. Another 2 weeks go by and I'm buying Pets. Then going down to a small 1 week, I'm playing Ambitions. A few days go by and I just stop playing. A month goes by without Sims 3 being started up, and yesterday (7/23/12) I bought World Adventures and played all day. I've played today, but I just find myself getting bored. Trust me, I'm anything but selfish and snotty. I usually play with toys for YEARS before getting sick of them. I don't know whats wrong. I have a teeny tiny little hypothesis of what it might be: Ive done every single option of family there is. Ive done every kind of sim with every different trait possible! I think this because sometimes I'll start an awesome family, go get some water or something, then come back and be like 'Wait I've done this' or more often 'This seems boring' Someone please help me. Give me ideas, anything PLEASE. Thank you so much for your time.   :) :D

You might want to lay off the large fonts.

Anyways, I've always liked telling stories, and my characters for freeplays always have some sort of story behind them. The vampire doctor and his five children who all hate each other. The elderly couple still having to deal with their rebellious teenage daughter. The rich businessman who worries that his sons won't carry his legacy. The hippies/vagabonds with a dark secret. The shy, budding musician who wants to impress the rich trophy wife across town. The investigator and his two ghostly roommates with a dark history. The emperor of evil and the tender moments with his adopted son. The innocent writer and his mysterious, quiet friend. I've had so much fun with these stories and many others.

In my opinion, the game is what you make of it and what you put into it.

Why not try to play one of the challenges here. You don't have to play to compete and you could try one of the older challenges. I've found that the challenges often get you playing in a way that you might not have thought about before. I've been playing Sims since the original was released many years ago and I'm still surprised when a challenge calls for some sort of gameplay that I've never really looked at before.

There's a thread with some suggestions for bored Simmers you can read here. My suggestion is to find new things to create - Sims, houses, bars, patterns, worlds etc.

I think everyone goes through a burn out spell where they have played so much it's like nothing is new and nothing can interest you again.  I've been there!  I have two games on my pc, and when Sims start to get a bit dull, and it has from time to time, I play the other game for a day or so.  Then I come into the forum and start reading the stories folks post, or read about the challenges they have done.  Sometimes it's days of just reading and maybe an occasional post.  Then I maybe get an idea of a famous character I'd like to make into a Sim, or someone's story line has sparked an interest in something I'd like to write about.  Pretty soon I'm over the blahs and back to Simming full time again. I think we get so engrossed at first because it's all so new but we overdo it and burn out.  Not to worry though, that can pass if you let it.  Just chill a bit and follow different threads here and on the "other" forum and you'll soon be up and Simming again.
What?  Grannies can't play games?
I speak perfect Nooblik, (and some Simlish)!
