(aka hazelnut plays with her new toys)As soon as Holly moved into her new house, the weather started to change and she decided to change her life along with the season. The first step was to quit her job – she could make far more money by playing for tips, anyway. The next was to invite Jack Hammer over. She’d fallen for him the first time she saw him – can’t imagine why
First she asked him to move in…
...and then she invited him out on a date. By the end of the evening, they were engaged.
The next night, Holly wandered outside to investigate some strange lights in the sky…
…and got herself abducted by aliens.
I didn’t see her return because I was expecting the whole thing to take longer – but she seemed none the worse for her adventure. Which was just as well, really, given that she was getting married the next day.
You didn’t expect Hol to have an ordinary wedding, did you?
At least they went indoors for the cake.
Jack seemed astonished to see a guest eating invisible cake, which would be a perfectly reasonable reaction if he hadn’t just enjoyed a slice himself.
At last, the bride and groom were left alone together …
…although some of the guests carried on playing in the snow for hours. By morning, the house was surrounded by snowmen and igloos in various stages of construction.
For some reason, pregnancy books don’t generally recommend making snow angels as an activity for mothers-to be, especially without a coat (and face-down in this particular case – I wish I’d got a screenshot). At least she wasn’t wearing a swimsuit.
Eventually, Jack persuaded her to go inside and dance instead.
Holly went into labour while competing in the Local Musician Showdown at the theatre, because I’d lost track of the days. (Unless it was an alien baby – but I thought that was only for male Sims?)
She hurried straight home to carry on pulling faces in comfort.
Another thing I’d forgotten to do was to feed her apples. Jack wanted a son and I’d been intending to have a male heir as the only child this time but I was far too busy playing with the new stuff to remember to send her to the supermarket. Fortunately, she had a boy anyway.
Welcome, Ash Wood. He is brave and loves the cold (just as well, given that he’s going to grow up in a wintry world)
Ash is another name reused from the immortal dynasty. The original Ash was Holly’s father, rather than her son. He was a Monster Maker and self-employed inventor who supermaxed handiness. I have a feeling he also supermaxed inventing later (I certainly remember him blowing himself up rather a lot and being grateful he had a deathflower by then). His was the generation where I nearly lost it. I married him off to a schoolfriend, Maebe, who was one of my favourite Sims in the whole family, only to find that she’d aged oddly and was now in mid-adulthood while Ash still had a week left as a young adult. Since his dad was still alive at this point, the house was full and they couldn’t have Holly. When Josiah finally died, I rushed them straight into Trying for Baby, forgetting that Ash hadn’t finished his lifetime wish and SimBots also need spaces in the household. Since Maebe lived quite a long time, Ash didn’t get his Ambrosia until he was in his late eighties.
