I got that error on my old computer when I used Google Chrome. I use Internet Explorer on my new one and I don't get that error message anymore. Just a coincidence?

I use Firefox and get that message every time I open my game.  I don't know if it has anything to do with it but I never sign in to play because I have all in game shopping and social connections turned off.

I used to have this as well but then it just stopped. I don't remember ever going out of my way to fix it though.

I use Chrome and don't get that any more.

Thanks for merging my topic with this one, as I think you've merged them. I needed to do that myself still, but than I got ... another ... error. :(
Ah well, that's for another topic obviously.

So do you mean you have first used Internet Explorer and later on after using Chrome it suddenly stopped?

Jude wondered if it was Google Chrome causing the issue but I'm using Chrome now and it doesn't happen. I did used to use IE but it's so slow, Lol. I don't remember if I got this error when I used it or not though or if switching to Chrome was the solution.

Maybe it was just a coincidence for me then.

I have a smaller solution that I use - it is completely safe and recommended by many gamers. It's called "Game Booster."
When it starts up it turns off all the background unnecessary things that won't be needed while you play the game to speed it up. The reason why I say it will help is because it bypasses the launcher (when you click to boost the game it counts down and opens up Sims). So the error message will not be displayed unless something is wrong with your GAME rather than the launcher.

If you do decide to look into it be sure to check for game updates (while they are unfrequent) as you will not notice when the game needs updating. That's all. :) I know it really helps to keep my game playing instead of crashing, so if you experience a lot of freezing lately it could help resolve that issue.

I hope I'm not in trouble for mentioning it, I didn't link to it. A moderator is welcome to edit my post if I'm in the wrong here on the rules.

Well, it depends. Is it a legal program you are talking about?

Yes it is, it is recognized by many software companies and it is certainly not "pirated" or anything of the like. It is simply a program that turns off background programs (that won't hurt your computer if turned off while on Sims) and then returns it to normal mode when you're finished with your game and exit.
The only thing that's potentially "not" legal is if you try to get the Premium version for free from a 3rd party website.

AMD has a similar program I use on my laptop and desktop called Fusion. It allows you to set up multiple profiles for different situations. It has a pretty good selection of options for turning things on or off (like keeping your network and anti-virus on while gaming if you're playing online). I tend to bounce back and forth between the preset Gaming and AMD Balanced profiles with a couple of minor tweaks to both profiles, and that works pretty well. There's nothing technically preventing the application from working on Intel chips, but the program will refuse to run on non-AMD processors.

Game Booster looks interesting. I'll have to download a copy and try it out. Looks like it may have a number of the same features as Fusion. :)

Regarding the error message, the Launcher uses components from Internet Explorer to display the Welcome page and some of the other pages (such as the Game Update page). It doesn't matter what your default browser is on the system (i.e. Firefox, Chrome, Opera), it still uses Internet Explorer's "engine" to display items in the Windows version. I would assume it uses Safari (or, more appropriately, WebKit) on the Macintosh systems. Regardless the error is being generated by the Internet Explorer components and not by your current default browser. Hope that clears things up a little. :)

As for the actual error, I haven't dug into it, but I do know it shows up on both of my Windows 7 systems running IE 8 and IE 9, and on my Windows 8 test system which has IE 10. So, it's something that is happening across multiple versions of the browser including the two latest versions. I wouldn't be surprised if the error shows up in IE 6 and IE 7 on XP and Vista systems. I haven't seen any reports of the error showing up on Mac systems.

For me this error screen has stopped to show off as well. I got the feeling it stopped after I was done patching (which I had to do three times as my game was apparently way behind the latest update) so maybe it has something to do with that as well.
It was only an error screen though, I haven't encountered any gameplay problems which I could blame on this screen. Weird, but relieved. :)

It still shows up on my computer and on MrsFlynn's computer. We're both at 1.39. But, there's no issue with the game itself, so we just hit Yes to continue running scripts and then launch the game. :)

It interesting that before I can start the game whatever the script error, but now I have to rename one file from game/bin to .exe and now I have only run the game from this file. See the picture bellow

Reinstall thousand times the game
IE9 options scripts etc.
reinstall my WinXP with Win7
Patches and updates by hands(non-automatic)
.netFramework installed
The latest version of Java

I have been getting the same error for quite some time.  I did some research on it, but really didn't come up with anything.  I have never had that message above though, so not sure what that is.  Anyway, I can't figure out how to get rid of it either, but it doesn't effect my game, so I just don't worry about it.
