I first took the time to ask here who a person was from which I had received a friend request if Ididn't knew it myself but as I don't even speak those persons over there I now am doubting the purpose of the list, if there is any.
If someone knows that, feel free to post that here.

Friends can gift you items on your wishlist. There are probably other purposes as well, but I don't use my account for anything other than buying Store items so I don't know.

Now that Showtime is out the purpose of a friends list is that these people are the ones you can talk to in game when you're signed in.  They can also see all of your downloads, achievements and comments.   These are also the ones that you have to pull from when trying to use Simport.

You don't have to have somebody on your friends list to gift them something.

Right before they adopted the face book like look I was just getting interested in my page and how you could interact with friends at TS3. Now it's just an endless stream and I never even look.

SimPort. I don't have Showtime yet but when I do, I'm counting on them to be able to try out SimPort. :)

So can I assume that the purpose of that friend list is the Showtime feature?
That means it took around 2.5 years for that list to even have a purpose.

When you get it; your sim will be invited. I don't send my sim, because I use CC and don't want anyone mad at me.

I thought CC won't get transported into other people world but that's for another topic.
I may be wrong though.
