I typically line up the potential heirs and compare them side-by-side. Sometimes, in the early generations, I'll keep a spare in the house with my heir for money-making purposes. Females that have career-related LTWs or that are Workaholics and such are typically out for heir, but I'll readily consider them as spares. I prefer my female heirs to be those that can master a self-employment job and my male heirs those that can master a 'real' job.

I also look at the personalities, I guess. If I've forged a certain personality for a potential heir, they'll frequently find themselves in my legacy house for the next generation or so.

Thank you all!

@loveSims, I'm far ahead enough in my game now to have the interior finished. It's the outside landscaping that I don't like. I never know what to do so I just toss some trees and shrubs around. LOL

Growing Boys

Now that Byron is old enough to go to school, I can really get busy on my painting and writing.

I love it when the entire family can sit down to a meal.

And, Donnovan  and I still spend a lot of time talking together and having fun together.

Time is just flying by so fast. Valentine is already a teenager. Oh, dear...that short hair! Is that any kind of hairstyle for a doctor? I guess he had better have a makeover.

And he wants to learn how to drive. Everyone on the roads had better watch out! I kept trying to put on the brakes for him, but, of course, there's no brake peddle on my side of the car. He finally learned what he needed to though. It must have scared me so bad that it changed my hairdo. I kind of like it though. (She went right back to her normal hairstyle the next day. Not sure what happened there.)

Now that Valentine is a teen, we gave him his own room and bought him a big bed.

Second day as a teen and Valentine's already having a mood swing. I can see I'm going to have my hands full with this boy!

Donnovan is now at level 7 of his career. He has been working so hard! And, so have I. I'm at level 8 of painting and level 5 of writing.

Byron has aged up to a teen. I will miss having my little boys. He still seems to like his cowboy-like clothes.

Byron gets to move out of the nursery into his own room now that he's a teen.

I do hope that Byron's okay. He spent most of the morning hanging out on the jungle gym. Donnovan talked to him and said Byron just wanted to be by himself for awhile.

Byron has started learning how to play the guitar.

The boys went to the prom together and both got into fights...but not with each other, thankfully.

And, as for Donnovan and I, we are loving each other still.

You underrate your writing skills, Jude. I followed the Crosby Random Town Jump and I'm really liking this story too. :) I'll be lurking with you, all the way to the finish.

Thank you so much loveSims! AND thank you, SweetestPea. That makes me feel a lot better about writing :)

I'm so proud of Valentine, even though it seems he's always having a mood swing. He is already at level 5 of logic.

Valentine has a girlfriend but I'm not sure she is right for him. She's a Party Animal and a Kleptomaniac. That can't be good, right? Besides which, she stole the name I would have named my daughter, if I had had one: Carisa, Carisa Lancaster-Arellano. She's also very Friendly so that might help make up for being a thief. We will have to wait and see.

I decorated another room in the house. The living/room study is quite masculine looking but...we have boys.

Byron is doing well with his guitar skill. He's at level 4 and hasn't even had any lessons.

The boys get along so well. They are the best of friends.

Donnovan is working hard on his athletics. He only has two days until he's an elder and is on Level 8 of his career. Almost there.

Valentine has been at it again. He just booby trapped the sink. That's three mood swings for him and none for Byron. I wish I could have caught him in the act. I sure would have given him "what for."

I am so very proud of Donnovan! He just made his Lifetime Wish of Super Star Athlete! Good for him.

With his happiness points we got another inheritance and decorated the second master bedroom. This one is pretty "girly" because I just know I will get a granddaughter when Valentine marries Carisa. Yes, I've come to love her as my own. She will be my daughter. Maybe her being named Carisa was a sign.

Uh oh. I knew it was too good to be true! It's Byron's turn for a mood swing. We will have to keep him very busy the rest of the day. Thank goodness there's school today.

Ugh! The pranked sink got me!

I got my own computer today. No more fighting for computer time with Donnovan and the boys. Yes, I'm still dripping...sigh.

Oh, my poor husband. We had a private family birthday party for him this morning. Where did all his lovely muscles go? Don't worry, Darling. I still love you with or without your muscles.

Donnovan also retired right away.

Byron has a girlfriend now. And, of all people, Carisa's sister, Rosa Lancaster-Arellano. I didn't see that one coming!

Aww! Donnovan and I just got the eternally faithful moodlet! I'm so happy!

Happy birthday Donnovan and congrats to the boys on getting girlfriends. I was just wondering, are the girls' parents original townies? Because there's Oscar Arellano and two Lancasters.

Yes, but since I am using Twallen's Story Progression, it gives offspring dual names. Oscar is their father. If I remember correctly, Lori is the mother (not Lina).

Ahh okay that makes sense now. I think Lori could have done better but the daughters still seem like great catches for Valentine and Byron.

The New Generation

My firstborn son just had his adult birthday. What happened to your hair? You had better  get that fixed right away! I know you're my son but you look older than I do!

Valentine's traits are Family-Oriented, Bookworm, Good, Genius, and Ambitious.

Valentine called Carisa to come and meet him at the Wishing Well. He proposed to her and then asked her to move in with him. That evening they had their wedding. And, of course, the required honeymoon ;) I believe those were chimes that I heard coming from their room. I'm sure my son and my new daughter will be very happy together.

He still loves me...as I love him.

Here is a picture Carisa . I think she is very pretty. She is a Party Animal, Kleptomaniac, Natural Cook, Friendly and Heavy Sleeper.

All too soon it's time for my youngest son to become a man. He wants his own house. He says there are too many people here to suit him. And, with a nooboo on the way... So, I guess he will get a job and find his own house.

Donnovan took us all out to breakfast the next morning. He wanted to make me feel better about Byron moving out. He's so thoughtful!

Look at the baby bump! I am sure that's my granddaughter in there!

This is the house that Byron moved into. It's pretty nice, isn't it? I knew he would do well.

Grandpa Donnovan is dancing with Carisa. Who knew he had such moves? That's my guy! I sure hope she doesn't shake loose my grand baby dancing like that!

I forgot it was my birthday so I "partied" all by myself. Now, I'm an elder like my husband. Not quite sure how I feel about that yet. I guess it comes to everyone.

I knew it was going to be a girl! Our little Querida was born with the athletic and disciplined traits. Thank you, Valentine and Carisa for our little granddaughter.

Grim came and took a stray dog from in front of our house.

Oh, I do love my new little granddaughter, Querida Loving.

It's time that I talk to Valentine about the Legacy and how it continues on through him and Querida. He told me he understands and that he won't let our family down. It's time for him to become the head of the family.
