The unique genetics and Southern-California inspiration are huge advantages. It has much more charm than I originally thought it had.

What do you mean by advantages?  I don't have a lot of experience with the town as it came out in the middle of my dynasty so I never really gave it a chance.  I did like that it had a two bedroom starter though

Advantages so that it looks pleasing enough for me to play in. ;D I'm a little strange in that I need to have really unique-looking townies and a slightly gritty atmosphere to look at in order to play a town for a long-term game, which Starlight Shores has. It's definitely a your-mileage-may-vary thing.

Starlight Shores also has a nice layout. I don't know why, but I just really love how the downtown-area looks and where everything is placed. And while there are combined rabbitholes, not all of the rabbitholes are combined so it's far less maddening than Moonlight Falls with the bugs.

Oh, and the sunrises in Starlight Shores are amazingly gorgeous, possibly better than Twinbrook's sunrises.

I'm the one person that likes Aurora Skies. I like the Scandinavian vibe with the bright homes and modern design. I would like the over all lighting to be a tad brighter but I prefer the deep tones they used in the landscaping. Visually it is my favorite. Sunset Valley was the first town I played and I like it for sentimental reasons. Lunar Lakes is awesome for a change of pace I like the Alien world for playing my Dr. Who/Serenity based characters and eventually I'd like to play a Dune based game, Lunar lakes will work nicely.

Shadowkeepernoir, I hear you. Not many people like Aurora Skies but I absolutely do. It reminds me of some of the most beautiful places I've ever seen, mostly in just pictures. The only issue is that I have to pull up my brightness level or it's almost to dark to see anything. Other then that, Bridgeport, Appaloosa Plains and Sunset Valley, out of the towns I have.

I love Aurora Skies, too! It contains my absolute favourite house which contains my favourite household, the Day household. It is supposed to be like a hotel - which means it's got six bedrooms and at least six bathrooms! Miriam Day, one of the founders of my DecaDynasty, is one of the prettiest pre-made Sims I know!

I also love Monte Vista. I love the residents and I love the scenery  :)

I adore Sunset Valley - I just know where everything is and it feels like 'home'. I have loads of other worlds which I haven't really explored well enough yet, but I've been playing a family on Monte Vista for ages and I love it!

I don't have them all.  I have Sunset Valley, Moonlit Falls, Riverview, Appaloosa Plain, Sunlit Tides, Monte Vista, Hidden Springs and Union Cove.

Of those, I picked as my favorites Sunset Valley, Moonlit Falls and Sunlit Tides.

Sunset Valley because I like the ocean there and think it is a pretty town and easy to get around in.  I know it and Moonlit Falls best.  I picked Moonlit Falls because I love the houses--all those victorians!  And I've played in it a lot.  Next, I was torn between Sunlit Tides and Hidden Springs, but I picked Sunlit Tides because even though I don't play in it a lot right now, it's my favorite looking town, though it is kind of a pain to get around in.   Right now I'm playing Hidden Springs a lot, and I like it, though I miss ocean!

I've never really played in Riverview, though I have it.  I started in Appaloosa Plain, but it's never been a favorite of mine, I don't know why.  I don't like Monte Vista for some reason, though I like the houses.  I mostly use stuff from it in other games.   I LOVE Union Cove, but can't get it to play, so....:(

And I've had Aurora Skies for less than 24 hours, so who knows?  I think I'll like it though--it reminds me of Hidden Springs but with ocean!  I'm not that keen on the houses though, which I find boring, so I'll probably remodel the whole town, which is what I do anyway.

It might be worth it to add I almost never play with townies, so I don't count them in my decision....

I have all of the worlds except Union Cove, Barnacle Bay, Bridgeport, and Riverview. I really like the look of Aurora Skies. The waterfalls and the color of the grass (it's a darker green). I'm not crazy about the design of the houses, but I do like the color they add (the roofs). I'm surprised that so many people like Sunset Valley. I got kind of bored with it. It's very generic, but I suppose that may be what makes it appealing to so many people. It's a typical idyllic town with a definite center/downtown area. It's the typical Sims town. I also like Moonlight Falls, but that has more to do with all the supernaturals that live there. Appaloosa Plains is fun because it has a TON of animals running around all the time. lol. Lucky Palms is really cool too. There's lots of space for putting in community lots.

You're not the only one. I love it too. You're right about it being Scandinavian looking. I couldn't put my finger on the style, but you nailed it. It's such a cool looking little town. I know what you mean about the lighting. It does seem like my screen is darker when I play it. I love the dark green grass though and all the mistiness from the waterfalls. It's really unique.

I like all the towns but my favorite is Sunset Valley, mostly this is because as Schipperke said about the centralized layout, I don't like my sims waste a lot of time going from one place to another.  Perhaps it's because as Ellenser said that I'm also most familiar with it and know the residents there the best, maybe your right Ellenser if I spent more time playing the other neighborhoods (I also do own all of them), I might change my mind.

Sunset Valley is so a friendly town, there are always sims at the big park and all over as to other neighborhoods, I don't like a dead town with no sims in sight.  Also I like to give my Sims homes with the Beautiful Vista moodlet, and Sunset Valley seems to have more of those lots.

My favourite is Appaloosa Plains. I've been playing there for generations now and I really love everything about it, especially how the residential areas surround the main town. :)

Hey, can I join the Aurora Skies fanclub too? I absolutely love it. It's so, so pretty and magical-looking. I don't really play townies, instead opting to make up my own characters and do whatever, and Aurora Skies just makes me want to go all Brian Froud on it.

The lighting doesn't bother me at all, though. I think it fits for what I'm doing with it.

Okay, so after voting, I was actually surprised to see Lucky Palms and Sunlit Tides further on the list.  I like all of the towns in their own way, but I tend to vote them in order from my favorite to least used as listed here:

1.Lucky Palms I love Lucky Palms because of its user-friendly atmosphere and limitless possibilities.  It's great for builders, like me, who wants to test out different house plans.  It's great for playing multi-generational games due to its easy access, low load time, and low glitch/tech issues.  It also has some great characters that are easy to befriend and fun to play.  Also, the starter homes are decent; in fact, I would argue that they're the best I've ever found.

2. Sunlit Tides  Having grown up in a desolate area of northern Nevada, staring at snow-covered mountains all the time, I long for warm sandy beaches and beautiful crystal water in the real world.  Sunlit Tides is my fantasy world, especially since there are so many lots that are right on the beach and backed up to the water.  I love this world.  It's only downside is its navigation.  I sometimes get disoriented while in map view because everything is on a peninsula and then there's the volcano rock in the center.  But the views in it are breath-taking, even on a computer screen.  And the tropical aspects of it are inspiring for me.

3. Appaloosa Plains Having grown up in desolate northern Nevada surrounded by ranches and snow covered mountains, Appaloosa Plains hits close to home in reminding me of my childhood landscapes.  The ranch-style homes are similar to ones I grew up in and that I visited as a kid, so I feel right at home navigating all the houses and the landscapes.  However, it's still a little too restricting for me at times, and I'm not a fan of all townies owning pets.  Though I am a natural pet lover, especially the 3 playable types, I do tire from the repetitive actions of the pets.

4. Riverview  For a lot of games in which I want to test out new content, new skills, or to further explore established content and skills, I always come back to Riverview because of its familiarity, its user-friendly set up, and its townies.  I do find the town center restricting and small, and the houses a little too far from the town, but I still like it for its user-friendly set up and beauty.

5. Aurora Skies  Though I have this one listed pretty far down on the list, it may move up eventually.  I have it listed down a little because of its newness and unfamiliar territory.  I think that once I sit down and really play it AS will move up in my list of favorites.  For now, it's here.

6. Monte Vista  I actually like this one, except for how some of the lots are positioned.  Save for the large lot by the fish pond, the lots are restricting on building (and I'm a builder...50+ lots only, please).  So, this town isn't really used by me.  Also, it's difficult to want to do much when the stores are in weird areas that take a lot of travel time to get to.  But, it does have nice views.

7. Sunset Valley I wish this one was higher on the list, and it used to be my number 2 town to use.  But, with all of the EPs automagically placing lots on the very few open lots in this town, it's no wonder it's not a fave anymore.  Again, I like to build.  In order to build in SV, I have to go through and delete lots.  And having all of the EPs causes major lags, so removing just one 40x40 lot takes forever.  Therefore, I'm not a huge fan on SV anymore.  However, it isn't at the bottom of the list simply because I did use it for ID research and ideas.  It is useful for that.

8. Moonlight Falls  When Supernatural came out I was so excited and I couldn't wait to play in the new town provided!  But, once I got into to the town (it takes forever to load) and started to look around...I wasn't so impressed.  Sure, it's got a lot of features and a lot of room.  But, surprisingly, it lacks in open lots.  It really irked me because there were areas that looked perfect to place a home on, but I didn't want to go through the hassle of waiting to load world editor just to build in the town.  It may eventually grown on me, but I actually don't play the supernaturals (which is odd because I'm such a fan of fantasy literature and the paranormal).  So, Moonlight Falls lost its appeal after I studied it closer.

9. Hidden Springs  This is only on the list because of how pretty it is.  It has some gorgeous views.  But other than that, nothing is special about Hidden Springs.  It's glitchy, it takes forever to load, and I can paint my grass in any world as green as HS grass.  I never play it anymore.

The rest of the worlds  Twinbrook, Bridgeport, Barnacle Bay, Starlight Shores, and Lunar Lakes I rarely play in.  Actually, I got the Showtime EP for its content (pool table?  Must have pool table for my super awesome lounge/dignified man cave).  I think I looked at SS once and after my game started freezing while just looking at the town center to get a better idea of its layout I exited and never went back.  Twinbrook is just...ew...too swampy and lots are way too small for me.  Bridgeport was fun for the apartment-style living and learning about celeb status.  But forget traveling anywhere in Bridgeport!  Also, I'm not a night owl myself, and clubs were never very appealing.  Barnacle Bay was alluring, and I bought it to try out for the ID challenge.  But no special seeds?  Forget it.  I actually have been thinking about reinstalling Lunar Lakes, but then I remember the horrid landscaping and the trees that just won't disappear (those fantasy spike trees always block my view).  Also, the houses are not user-friendly, and the sci-fi aspect might be fun for some but I'm not too keen on it.

I would love to include UC in the top of my list (or even say I've played it), but alas...I only peeked into it once and it was right after it first was available on this site.  It was so cool too!  But, the world refused to load properly, and the layers of content really slowed my game down to the point where my sims froze every few seconds.  Of course, that could be because I have so much stuff downloaded from the store and from Origin.

I am kind of in love with Appaloosa Plains.  It has some nice big lots, I don't have to add much to get the careers I want, the layout works well, and the residents are friendly and good-looking.

Bridgeport, on the other hand, is easily my least favorite.  It takes forever to get anywhere!

I absolutly love Hidden Springs. Just the lush look and feel of the town. It's a bummer the legacy lot is a bit far from the down town area, but it won't keep me from playing my dynasty there.

Second on my list is a tie between Monte Vista and Union Cove. I know they're nothing alike, but I just can't choose. When I start a new game I usually start over a couple of times switching between neighborhoods until it feels good:).
I'm on fire, I'm a fighter. I'll forever be the last one standing.
