I might put my hand up for some beta testing :) I read an interesting article by a beta tester while I was creating my world. My only stipulation is that there can be absolutely NO CC or mods.

No, absolutely no CC - I don't have any, and certainly wouldn't put any in a clean world. I do have mods installed, but they don't affect CAW at all - only my personal game. They wouldn't transfer, or affect your game in any way.

Thanks very much for offering! I'll PM you when it's ready, and send you the file, or upload it to the Exchange and send out the link.

I can't Beta test because my simming computer is my sister's personal computer. Idon't want to get in trouble with her, or my parents, for downloading it and somehow getting it on her computer. Also for our internet, we have a much lower limit on what we can download than most people. I'm afraid of flash games and videos. Also I have no idea how to do it, and whether or not my sister would notice and get mad at me. I don't think I even have Java or Flash or whatever.

Marvellous  ;D

Thanks for this, guys! I'll try and get a wiggle on, last week was hectic, so progress was a bit slow, and of course I had a small disaster last night :( Still, things are in reasonably good shape, so I hope to have this ready for testing fairly soon. Thank you so much, I really appreciate it (and if anyone else wants to as well, the more the merrier).

Not to worry Swirl-Girl, I understand completely - if you've got a download limit, and a sister who doesn't want extra worlds on her computer, beta-testing probably isn't a great idea  :-\  Hopefully you'll get to try the finished version at some point :)

Thanks for understanding. I probably won't be able to play in it at all, but it looks really good. I don't know anything computer, and frankly, I can''t access the simming computer at the free download hours, 2-5am.

Still working on the Old Town, I've rebuilt the nectary, coffeeshop, and a house... they're visible in this picture. The nectary is next to the equestrian centre, the coffeeshop is behind the consignment shop, and the house (which is a tiny bit more expensive than a starter house, so I'll try and fix that) is next to the theatre... The building is going reasonably quickly, but decorating nicely takes a bit longer!

Well, I'm well into the building/decorating stage, and there's not much left on the terrain and decoration, so here's the latest overview of the island...

And a sneaky peek at the Egyptian wing of the local museum/art gallery...

Things seem to be going slower, and I keep thinking "I need to go back to that bit/sort that section of terrain out/make a nice custom wallpaper for this room", but I keep reminding myself that more haste = less speed, and that I want this to be great for people to try out and play with...

Ohh what have I missed  :o I'm so wrapped up in Diablo that I haven't been in this board for too much time!
DeLouche - it is looking fantastic! It already looks much much better than Barnacle Bay! I love the sculpting you did, edges of the island are perfect! And architecture is adorable and suitable - you did an excellent job there!
And about geeky approach - that is the only right one, otherwise you'll end up in deep trouble when editing is very limited, I used 3 paper notebooks while working on UC and wrote them fully, and would find myself planning and considering my plans even far away from PC :))

My only tip would be to try to finish sculpting if you planned to smooth those remaining hills and reduce the spikes of the cliffs, and level roads a bit before placing all lots, as you may end up with having to adjust too much of them - sculpting tool quite often change the elevation of the ground in whole world, not much but enough that you eventually end up with lot edges not being leveled with the ground.

Really looking forward to see this world out, and you live in very beautiful place if you made this beautiful place by being inspired with it!

If you still need beta-testers, I'm also happy to help. If one tester is good, more must be better!  ;)

Anushka, thank you! I think you're right, I've saved all lots to the library, so if there is a bit of lot-misplacement, I'll be able to replace them fairly easily - I'll do that next, I think you're right about the roads. I was going to do the final touches on the edge-terrain last, as it doesn't affect any lots. The spreadsheet was definitely extremely helpful, I'm keeping a clean copy to use in future worlds!

It is a really beautiful place, I was very lucky to grow up there (here's a pic, because I think it's so gorgeous: http://www.carrentalbookers.com/images/location/UK/Channel-Islands/Jersey/Jersey.jpg) - I don't live there any more though, I moved to England for jobs... I'd love to do a sim-version of the town I live in now, it's very beautiful and historic, but the architecture is so good that I don't think I could replicate it...

Audren, that would be great! I'll PM you when it's ready for testing, which will probably be next week.

I know it's been a while since the last update, so I'll have something up soon!

The more the merrier (and the more likely to pick up things that need fixing :) ) When it's ready, I'll send a PM round, with a list of things to look out for in testing.

As for populating the world - I've looked into it a bit, but not enough to feel comfortable messing around just yet; if I do populate it, it definitely won't be populated at testing stage.

This is a really quick update, as I'm diving straight back into build mode, but I've finally done the pool (it was giving me a lot of trouble for a while), so here's a picture of the waterfront, including pool, poolside clube, diner, and the beginnings of a dog park. As ever, feedback welcome :) Also, I've changed something else about the island; it's visible in this picture...
