Lost in Very Bazaar

I'm currently doing the quest Very Bazaar. My hero is my wizard. So far I haven't had any problems except I'm at the part where I have to switch places with the injured guard. It says he can be found at the village safe house. When I "received" a letter from him he said he was at the village herbalist, whom I assumed was the village "doctor" but when I go to the clinic, I can't find an injured guard. Has anyone completed this? What am I missing? Please help?
