Caught! Yes I meant Melons.  Also something to note to people having some major lag after patching up, the first thing you should try is resetSim * since patching can cause people to get stuck in routing issues.

Patch 1.36
« Reply #16 on: July 10, 2012, 10:08:21 AM »
Doesn't that just feature store content that you don't have and therefore can't place? That new feature really annoys me, to be honest. :P

Haha! I'm such a div! Yes that makes sense (though it shouldn't have the option to pick up the items if you can't drop 'em - it confuses those of us [me] that are clearly easily confused!) it is an endlessly helpful tool in creating my collection folders (so glad this came out before my mammoth task of writing out names in sets and finding the item *wipes brow*)

Xazeal is it actually letting you drop the items? Peculiar that my game is being so mischievous... I shall investigate, perhaps it's just that house?

I did initially try to place the item as well. Did that for a good five minutes before realising. ;D

I was just working in my Building Contest file. I did a lot of work but as soon as I go back into Edit Town to do a save it crashes right away. Is there anything I could do to rectify this problem? This also happened yesterday right after patching. I did the same work five times before I could get a save to work without crashing.  :(

Maybe try a factory reset? You've done all the DEP stuff, right? I know it's listed as one of the fixes, but you never know!

You know, I wish they had fixed that pausing-when-the-game-loads thing. ::)

I really don't know what this means, Fixed a crash when Data Execution Prevention is turned on. Is this something that I'm supposed to turn off? Where do you find this?

I don't know if it's something that makes a difference anymore, but it's worth a shot: Off of the top of my head, I think you go to Control Panel then click Advanced System Settings. There should be a bit that says "performance", and a bit there that says "settings". Click that and there will be a data execution prevention tab. There will be an option to "Turn on DEP for all programs and devices except those I select". Click that and then there will be an "add" sort of option where you can select files. Select everything from the base game and the latest EP or SP you have, and that should be it.

Are your computer specs alright?

I'll check and see if I can locate the DEP and have a look. Every time we get an update this always happens at first and then for some reason unknown to me seems to fix itself. But right now , I'm trying to work on my contest lot and it's a little frustrating. I was able to do a save a few times but then after I had done some more work it just crashed again. I will go and see if I can get some more done.

After every patch? :-\ Is your computer completely fine for running the game? Processor and everything is alright? It sounds like it might be under a lot of pressure. If that's not the case, I'm stumped. That's really strange that it seems to happen after every patch.

I play the sims on a daily basis and never have problems until we get a new patch. Then I experience crashes or stalling for a while and then it seems to be ok. I have no idea as to why it does this or even how it seems to fix itself either.

I did manage to get a bit of work done and save it. I only do a small amount of work, go into Edit Town and do a save, then do some more work and so on. I really hope it fixes itself soon.  :)

I had a similar problem last night.  Everything was all right until I went to save and quit and then the game just kind of froze and I got a box saying there was a saving error and it would not save.  That happened twice and then I just gave up and tried to quit the game and it just froze on a black screen.  I eventually just restarted my computer because it would not even force quit or anything.  I haven't tried playing yet today so I do not know if it will happen again.

I've had the same thing happen, even after poking around with DEP, removing all mods and store content, and trying everything else I could find. I ended up having to do a total reinstall to get my game back. I'm not patching until I get Diesel Stuff now. Hopefully it will have been fixed by then.

For the very first time, I had to force close my game because it completely freezed up. I swear this has never, ever happened before on this laptop and the laptop is made to run the game perfectly fine on a mix of medium/high settings. If this freezing up thing begins to be a regular thing... ::)

Maybe I'm dumb; but, what are the appropriate objects to get performance gigs at bars? I want to revamp Bridgeport and have it possible to do live gigs for performers and band gigs at places like Eugi's. Is there a certain number of objects that need to be placed, and what about the instruments for band gigs?

Does anyone know?

For band gigs, I know they have to have a guitar, a keyboard, a bass and a drum set.  You may need to to put in buydebug crowd spots on the ground and a showtime stage in order for performers to also get gigs there.
