My Tiberium is not growing
« on: July 08, 2012, 09:56:17 AM »
I have three spire-cut pieces of Tiberium on my lot. Only one has grown to the large size, and the other two are still small. I have them placed in a basement about ten squares apart. They have been there for around two sim weeks. Is there any way to make the two small ones grow?

Probably not. I've found that the Tiberium bought at the Consignment store doesn't grow.

There also seems to be a glitch where sometimes tiberium just won't grow no matter how you get it.  This has happened to me with rocks found from consignment store, miner holes, pet hunting and picking it up in China.  I think it's really random but it happens.

Thanks for the replies. I got these pieces from board-breaking. I'm just glad I have got one large piece, maybe I will be able to transfigure the smaller pieces and get lucky.

For some reason, Tiberium has to travel.  If you put it in your inventory and then go visit a foreign land, when you return home and put it on the ground, it should grow.

I discovered today that Tiberium doesn't have to travel for it to grow.  My Sim got one from breaking space rock blocks, I got it cut into the heart shape.  My Sim carried it in her inventory until it made her sick, then set it out on the floor.  Within a couple of days, it grew to a large spiral worth $45,747.

So maybe it's the carrying it till you get sick that's the trigger?  Or is it the heart shape?  Does the size of the heart matter?  If you are using a regular size I know it will grow but will a large heart shape made via transformation grow a larger spire?

I think you have to carry it until it makes you sick.  Any I put out before doesn't grow, and everything put out after does grow.

I've never carried mine until getting sick from it and it usually grows just fine.  (Okay, once I forgot about it long enough for my sim to feel ill.)  I normally move it from their inventory to a resting spot within seconds of getting it from the mailbox.

I just went through this last week - on my last attempt at a decadynasty.  The heir was collecting tiberium for his special item so I was watching carefully every time the dog dug it up, if I sent it to be cut prior to getting sick it didn't grow.  The only ones that grew were the ones he waited to cut.  Maybe it was just coincidence but he had to collect 13 because I got impatient and cut 3 of them early and then they didn't grow.

Sorry, I realize I should have said that I pick it up and immediately send it to be cut, then put it on the ground right after it comes back in the mail.  This has been mostly from splitting space rocks though, I don't know if it's different from having a dog dig it up.

Is tiberium that three-pronged green glowing kryptonite-like crystal thing?

Yes, when cut into 'Spire Cut' it has three prongs and glows.

Wow amyrose you make me so happy with that news! Do you realise I have been searching for tiberium for over two years now, having only seen it once... It is distinct memory because I remember thinking how much it sucks and how useless it is. As a young simmer I didn't have the sim sense to find out if it actually had some hidden value... But next question: how/where do I find it? I only have Ambitions and WA.

I also do it like this and haven't had a problem with it growing in a few sim days. I never hang on to it until I get sick.
Weather I get if from picking up off the ground, breaking space rocks or my dog finds it. I send it off to be cut with the heart shape cut and place it somewhere and it grows in a few days.
A clear conscience is usually a sign of a bad memory.
