Edit catalog description for custom content
« on: July 07, 2012, 10:19:47 AM »
I have been searching for days on how to edit the description forcustom content for a while and i can't find the answer... I do not create objects. I download lots and things like that and sometimes they have little to no description! So when I want to place a house in edit town, I don't remember what house I really like or anything because some them don't have a description at all. My question is, how do I add one so that I can easily identify them??? Is this possible? Please forgiveme if this question was asked already. Keep in mind I have no meshing

If you want to edit the description for a house, you'll need to write it in your game. Just click on the button that looks like the skill icon for Writing once you've placed the lot, and then you can give it a description. If you want the house with the description attached in your bin, just export it back out.

No. Using custom content items in your game isn't recommended, as they can break your game really easily if you aren't careful. If they come without descriptions or names, then I wouldn't bet much on the quality of the item.

Just to clarify a bit here, it's third party custom content that we don't recommend.  Custom content made by EA and sold in the Store is fine.

Store items aren't custom content. Anything that is made by the game developers isn't considered custom content, even if it is sold in the way that EA's Store items are.

For the purposes of this forum, we have always considered anything that does not come with an EP or SP to be custom content.  This helps reduce confusion since opinions vary on the subject.  The difference is written in out in a post somewhere on the forum.
