She is so lonely! I hope she find someone soon.

She's met someone now! But not quite the way most people expected I bet! lol There is no room in Michelle's life for a spouse!

The house looks great. Welcome Coco (love the name). The baby will cure her loneliness.

Thanks. I'm hoping that through the generations, I will be able to expand it without too much trouble. :3 Coco is named after Coco Chanel. I'm trying to make each generation's name a play on a real life artist in their area of expertise. (Coco is going to be a fashion designer, Michelle Angel is a play on Michelangelo because she does sculpting/painting.) I hope that comes across in later generations!

That's so cool! I'm loving that idea. You picked a great designer to name her after  ;D.

Week Five: Summer Time!

We had an exciting start to our week! It was Coco's birthday! We had a quiet little celebration just the two of us. Coco had never had cake before, so she was absolutely enthralled by the sugary delight that I made for her. After blowing out the candles, I sat her down so those magic sparkles could do their thing. Imagine my relief when she had hair! Whew, I was more than a bit worried that she would be a baldie forever! Luckily, she turned into a pretty cute kid.

Since I had been super busy with my inventing, I hadn't gotten time to get Coco a birthday present. So after we had cake, I asked her what she would like for me to get her. "New clothes!" she squealed. I laughed at her because I had suspected that would be her reaction. I let her go to the dresser and make a whole new wardrobe just for herself. She dominated it with her favorite color (purple) and looked pretty darn cute! While she chose her new clothes, I took it upon myself to redecorate her room. I also used her favorite color but added things that would encourage her in her fashion dreams.

Coco was becoming quite the little social butterfly. She didn't have many friends, but her little doll proved to be a good enough companion! She was always throwing tea parties and singing or chatting to that little doll! My inventing skill was increasing, and I had invented another toy for my little girl. She was beyond excited to receive the gift, though it may have been a bit too simple for her. Coco was entirely too polite to say that she was too grown up for my silly little toy, but I was grateful that she had the grace to just accept it!

The next day was Coco's first day of school. She was so excited that she ran right into the side of the bus! Oh dear, I hope that she is better at managing her studies than managing her own life! After Coco got safely on the bus, I checked the mail. There were bills to pay, of course, but to my surprise there was a letter from my father. Apparently, his uncle had passed away and left an inheritance to me in his will. I opened the check to find it was for 30,000 simoleons! I nearly fainted with surprise! We could definitely use the money. I ran to the bank and then went on a bit of a shopping spree. I bought a car for me and Coco, then a treehouse for Coco to spruce up the backyard.

Coco was very diligent with her homework. She was such an independent little girl that I was able to focus almost solely on my inventing. Coco would get up everyday and get herself ready for school, then I would head on over to the junkyard and dig for scrap. We fell into a nice little rhythm, though I'm sure Coco would have preferred if I was more of a traditional mom.

Of course, there were a lot of times where I had to act like an adult. Kids break EVERYTHING! I felt like I was constantly repairing things: the shower, the toilet, the dishwasher. It was a bit stressful. I never let Coco see me sweat, though. When I would get a little too stressed out, I'd send her outside to play like a real kid. She loved the hopscotch court in particular. She didn't like my little ghost kitty, though, which bummed me out a bit. Maybe she just needs to get used to a ghost around the house!

There was a bit of excitement midweek. I set myself on fire! I haven't done that since I stopped sculpting! Luckily, Coco wasn't there to witness my blunder and the scars are painful, but hidden. This was the reason I made my workshop near the bathroom! HAHA!

As the weekend drew near, I took a bit of time to be thankful for everything I had. I was a master of two skills (sculpting and painting); I was well on my way to mastering my third and completing my lifetime wish; I had a beautiful, independent daughter who was excelling at school; I had a lovely home and a comfortable income. Realizing that I had to show how thankful I was, I decided to give Coco her wish by acting like a real mom for once. I made her a homecooked meal and then praised her about her schoolwork as we ate together at the dinner table. Afterwards, I began a portrait of Coco for her birthday. It was right around the corner and I wanted her to have something special!

Coco spent the last few days of her childhood just enjoying being a child. I watched her play with a sad smile. After all, she would never again be able to capture this innocence. She was a bright imaginative little kid, and I know that she will be an amazing young woman!

Week Six: Teenage Dreams

Good lord how time flies! It seems like only yesterday that I was teaching Coco to walk and talk. Now I'm throwing her a birthday party for her teen age up! If it had been up to me, we would have had a very quiet little get together, just the two of us, but Coco is such a social person that I couldn't deny her! I invited all her friends and set up a great celebration in the backyard. Thankfully, I had some simoleons left over from the inheritance, so it didn't completely cripple us financially. My eyes welled up with tears as I watched her blow out the candles! My baby is growing up so fast!

Of course, all she asked for as a gift was for a new wardrobe. Coco definitely has a very distinct fashion sense! I wasn't too thrilled with some of her choices (rips and bare middrifts?), but she has such a free spirit that I couldn't bring myself to crush it! Surprisingly, it looks like she likes the way I wear my hair because she did hers the same way. Overall, she is a great little stylist. Maybe that will be her future? Ah, but I'm getting ahead of myself. Look at her pretty new clothes!

Coco set down after the party and began to read a book on charisma. She must be afraid she's going to become a loner like her old mum, but I know better. She's much to vivacious to ever become a shut-in like me! I was too exhausted after the party to keep her company, but Coco's pretty much used to being on her own by now. She's become a great help around the house, cleaning the dishes and making sure everything looks nice. That left me with plenty of time to keep painting. I wanted to earn a bit more money, and it seems that painting is the easiest way. While I painted, Coco focused on her homework and doing well in school.

Unfortunately, Coco seemed to be showing a bit of a rebellious streak. Around midweek I caught her planting a whoopee cushion in the couch! I didn't know she was such a prankster, and I was not amused. I may have let my temper get the best of me, but after having a bit of a chat and dealing out a fair punishment, we got past the little episode.

It's a good thing that I don't stay angry... the next night was prom, and Coco was dying to go! She'd been asked to go with her friend Trish Mallory (though I get the feeling that Coco has a bit of a crush on the girl). I was worried about letting Coco go, but I knew my girl was responsible. After she left in the white stretch limo, I went to my workshop and practiced inventing to keep my mind off of all the shenanigans Coco might be getting into. She came home right after prom to dish all the details. Apparently, my suspicions about her crush on Trish were true because Coco got her first kiss from the red-haired girl and the two were officially going steady! Coco had a blast and was even popular enough to be named Prom Queen! She got a couple of great souvenirs to remember the night.

That very night, Coco signed up for a couple of after school activities: Drama Club and Art Club. So long as it doesn't interfere with her studies, I was all for my daughter leading an active social life. She came home from her first Art Club meeting totally inspired. I showed her the old sculpting station and she immediately got to work! I was so impressed with her talent, especially at such an early age! I continued to work my butt off in inventing, earning lots of scars, burns, and electrocutions along the way!

For a couple of days, I felt like Coco had been wanting to ask me something. I didn't want to pry so I just waited until she worked up the courage to talk to me. I feared she would ask for a pet or something very expensive. Finally, on Saturday morning she asked (with much stammering) if I could teach her to drive! I was so relieved that it wasn't a puppy that I immediately agreed. Of course, the whole experience was extremely grating on my nerves... Coco was no natural. But after a while she finally got the hang of it. She was so excited to receive her driving license in the mail!

My elder birthday was coming up very soon. Growing old makes us all face our own mortality, and I wanted to make sure that Coco would be provided for should I meet an early demise. Taking a bit of money I had stashed away, I went to the courthouse and bought a property: the local library. I knew it would be a good investment; Coco could make improvements to the property later to receive bigger payoffs if she wanted, but at least she would always have a bit of money coming in. I also knew that I was running out of time to complete my lifetime wish. I was so busy inventing that I aged up without even realizing it! How embarrassing!

Oh, did I mention that I invented a weird little gnome thingy? Coco named him Salty, and he is... odd to say the least. I swear he knows how to move around the lot all by himself... but that can't be possible, can it?

Note: While writing the beginning of this, I nearly burst into tears! "I Want to Hold Your Hand" from the Across the Universe soundtrack came up on my media player! Too eerily accurate! This is one of the first families I'm playing through multiple generations, so forgive me if I seem a bit attached.

Thank you! Luckily, Michelle hasn't passed on yet, but I know that's going to happen sometime tonight. :c I may have to have a little pity party.

Hey this is so nice, and simple. I like the way you divided the chapters and the fact you are telling the story in first person. I know where my inspiration is going to come from now when I start writing. Have a good one.

Aw, thank you so much!

I should have at least one update today. I had a hurt hand the past two days and my husband was off of work, so it was nearly impossible to update! But I'm working on a new chapter now!

Week Seven: Work, Work, Work!

As soon as Coco saw the horrid state of my attire, she threw a minor fit. She said "Mom! Just because you're old, doesn't mean that you have to stop caring about the way you dress!" I was a bit torn between amusement at her conviction and annoyance at her calling me old. So to appease my fashion icon, I told her that we could go to the salon and get makeovers. Coco was so excited that she could barely wait until the next morning. I didn't really care what I wore (after all, I barely left the house!), but the stylist was very helpful in creating a wardrobe for me that was fairly practical yet still reflected my artistic flair. When it was Coco's turn, I was afraid she would go a bit overboard. However, she choose a much more muted wardrobe than last time. Apparently, simple is "in" (whatever that means...).

That was a lot of pictures, I know, but it was such a great mother-daughter day! Back home, I stayed busy doing what I do best: focusing on my art. I had so many memories to help inspire me. Coco was being her vivacious self: talking on the phone and practicing her charisma in front of the mirror. We were both very busy with our own lives... there needs to be something to shake us up soon.

They always say that you should be careful what you wish for... and they are right! I wished for something exciting and I got my wish midweek! I was happily inventing away, when I guess I got a little careless with the blowtorch. The entire workbench caught on fire! I was in such a panic; this was scarier than when I caught MYSELF on fire! Luckily, Coco kept a calm head and quickly put out the fire. I was so panicked that I didn't know what to do... As you can see, one of the little gnomes thought out plight was hilarious and decided to dance on my charred workbench.

After the brush with death, I was even more determined to complete my life goals. I rushed to finally complete my inventing skill, and even invented a time machine! That meant that I finally completed my lifetime wish to be a master painter, sculptor, and inventor. Coco spent some time painting, and I'm sure that she'll be a master painter some day just like her mom!

Near the end of the week, we had a bit more excitement. I was out piddling in the backyard when a glint of something shiny caught my eye. I went over and dug into the ground to discover what it was. A golden lamp! I'd always heard stories that if you rubbed a lamp, a genie would appear and grant you three wishes. Well, no one was around to see me, so of course, I rubbed the lamp. Suddenly, the air was filled with smoke and a blue skinned genie appeared! I nearly had a heart attack. Never in a million years did I think that it would actually work! The genie told me that she would grant my family three wishes, but only three! The only thing I could think of was for eternal happiness. The genie flashed some magic around and BOOM! my wish was granted. Though my life may yet be short, I will always be happy! Afterward, I introduced the genie to Coco and let her make a wish, too. She chose eternal happiness, too. After the genie did her thing and returned to the lamp, we decided to just put the lamp on a high shelf and forget about it... for the time being.

I'm going to leave you with a bit of humor. We now offifially have two gnomes in our family. You've already met Salty, but our new friend's name is Squiggy. They both bring lots of laughter and fun. Salty seems to be the more rambunctious of the two: he was dancing on the grave of the stray cat! Squiggy seems to like art a lot, despite her mechanical beginnings, because she spent most of the time in the gallery.

Okay, i'm seriously beginning to like the color yellow. I like the way you aged Michelle's personality, she really does sound like an elder. I find those gnomes a little creepy though. lol
I guess your hand's feeling much better, thank goodness.

Thank you! I must admit, the clothes and furniture are my favorite thing about the sims.  ;) Well, that and I can kill people! lol

Thanks so much! Yellow is pretty much my favorite, though ya'll better be prepared for a purple overload next gen (Coco's favorite color). Unfortunately, I have cysts that grow in my wrist, so sometimes I have really bad pains that make it impossible for me to use my right arm/hand... and I'm right handed. :c

Another update coming up soon. Spoilers: This will be the last update from Michelle's perspective!

Generation Eight: I've Had the Time of My Life!

I'm quite enjoying my elder years, I must say. It's been nice and quiet around the homestead. Coco and I have been pursuing our own interests: sculpting for me and paitning for Coco. She really has quite the flair for painting, and I hope that she will master the skill quite soon! I have my own goal to finish up my museum, so sculpting has become my only focus.

My celebrity status is pretty much cemented within the community, so my agent has decided that I put it to good use. I went to the hospital to help entertain the children on her behest. I don't think any of the kids knew who I was, but a few parents were thrilled at my appearance. But I couldn't be kept long from my sculpting stand. I was working on topiaries for the yard so future generations would recognize my work.

All too soon, it was prom season again! Coco picked out a gorgeous (and very grown-up!) prom gown to wear. She gussied herself all up and then hopped in the limo. I kept myself busy, cleaning and doing some chores, until Coco came home to tell me all about it. She was so excited because she'd been crowned prom queen AGAIN! The night hit a snag when her crush turned her down for a dance, but there were plenty of other friends to keep Coco's spirits up. She returned home happy.

The next night, Coco had an award ceremony at school. She got dressed up again and went to receive her awards. There was a trophy for drama club and one for art club. She was so proud to display the awards in her room. I had been working on a special painting for the occasion, so I was able to present it to her when she returned home. It wasn't much, but she seemed very excited!

That weekend, Coco buckled down and spent much of her time painting, painting, painting! Right before her birthday, she created her first masterpiece AND became a master painter! She was very proud of herself, but not as proud as I was at my little girl! Getting her certificate in the mail was just the icing on the cake! While Coco painted, I tried my hand at ice sculpting. I'm sure it was amusing seeing a little old lady with a giant chainsaw, but it was incredibly invigorating for me! The rush was amazing, and the sculptures sold really well, considering that they would melt!

The week ended on a great note: Coco's birthday! She left the world of adolescence behind and was thrust into the adult world. I know that my baby is all grown up, but I can't help but still think of her as the wobbly toddler taking her first steps. Now it's her turn to take care of her old mom!

As a final thought, Salty the Gnome decided to entertain us with a little table dance!
