Dog can't locate specific collectibles anymore?

I have a dog with the hunting skill, but when I try to locate specific collectible types, the dog sniffs around for a bit and then cancels the action and forces me into map view. I can just have the dog "sniff out collectibles", though. I've tried taking out mods and clearing the cache, neither worked. What should I try next? =/

When a dog locates specific collectibles, my game has always gone into map view and placed maptags all over the map for where the dog can find these collectibles.   Are you not seeing the maptags?

When you tell a dog (or cat) to "find" collectibles, it doesn't mean that the dog will actually go get the collectible.  He's finding it for you by showing you the map view and the collectible tags.  You have to send your Sim over to pick them up.

There were so many other map tags, I didn't even see the collectible tags! I've got some mod that makes all the sims show up as map tags.
