Items bought in the Sim Store

I purchased a fish tank from the Sims store yesterday but, can't find it anywhere in my Sims inventory. The purchased was deducted from my Sims point account. One thing on the purchase procedure a box came up asking what file/folder I wanted it to go into and had no idea so left it blank. Poor instructions on the part of EA.
Shouldn't a purchase from the Sims store go directly into an inventory or somewhere?
Need help before I waist more of my Sims points on purchases.

When you buy something from the Sims Store, sometimes you need to tell your browser to download it into The Sims 3 Download folder.  This folder is located "Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 3 > Downloads".    When you officially download the item, it still needs to be installed via the Launcher into the game.  You do this by choosing the item and hitting the install button from the downloads section of your launcher.

Then when you enter the game, the aquarium still has to be purchased by your Sims to be placed into their house.
