All expansion packs and stuff packs are save game compatible with the base game and all other expansion packs and stuff packs.
My Builds
Sweetwater Cafe and Nectary
Growing Family Home
Sunset Valley Fire Department
Savey Simoleon Mall
I welcome suggestions and constructive criticism about any of my builds on their threads.

Yes they'll stay the same; however, there will be new content with each expansion pack.  So say the next one you install is Pets or Late Night.  Installing Pets will make minor pets and  large pets suddenly spawn all over your neighborhoods.  Late Night will cause townies to become vampires and people will start getting celebrity levels.

I recommend making a back-up of your save file just in case there is some glitch when installing a new expansion pack.

Yes, I agree.  It's always a good idea to have a back up of your game, especially when installing an expansion or stuff pack.  You can find instructions for it, along with lots of other useful information, on our Technical Help board.
