Sims 3 Pets Download Error

My game has been running quite choppy lately, so I decided to manually install all of the games.
I have successfully downloaded Vanilla, Late Night, Ambitions, High-End Loft Stuff, and Generations, but I'm having an issue with Pets.

When InstallShield attempts to install  C:\...\The Sims 3 Pets\ Caches\AppaloosaPlains.objectChache , I get an error.

The error says "Feature transfer error: File: D:\Caches\AppaloosaPlains.objectCache Error: Data error: (cyclic redundancy check)

Can someone PLEASE help me out with this?

What options do you get when the error appears?

My only option is to click "OK".
And when I try to start the game up, it tells me again that my expansion pack is not compatible.

I think I may have screwed something up while re-installing manually, but God knows what that could be.

So, you manually uninstalled everything using the steps from this thread?  And now you're trying to install the game again.  Are you using disks or are you downloading online?

Yes, I followed those steps. And I'm installing from disks.

I'm not sure what is causing the problem, but my suggestion is to uninstall the game again and start over with the installation.  If it happens again, let us know and hopefully we can figure out another solution.

Well, I've tried three times and the same thing has happened every time. Being that I try to solve every problem on my own, I just haven't decided to get help until now

There are others on the Forum who are more technical than I am, so they might be able to help you better.  My only last suggestion is to contact EA support.  I'm stumped.

OK, I re-installed and bypassed that problem...only to come to another one.

I tried following EA's rules for manually re-installing my game, but when it came to deleting the registry keys, I couldn't find the keys for some of the expansion packs, so I simply ignored it and moved on.

I tried re-installing one last time, and it was fine..except the Sims 3 Pets icon was just a classic Windows icon, like it hadn't gotten to download.
So I opened the launcher, and got an error message saying that my base game is not compatible with my expansion pack, or something like that?

Wow, I am SO disgruntled over this. I just hope I get play my game again!

When you're installing from a Disc, a Cyclic Redundancy Check is when the installer is trying to use a file that just isn't there. I've had it with another game, and the only way I managed to fix it was to take the disc to a video rental store and pay to have it resurfaced. Your disc is most likely scratched, so take a look at it. If it's got a deep scratch, or a lot of scratches, it might pay to have it resurfaced, which costs around $8 US Dollars, and will take around a week to do, depending on the rental store.


So that's *probably* why the install wasn't working the first few times, but I have no idea why it managed to install for you the last time.

Isn't it possible to download the game online if it's registered on the Sims 3 site?  I haven't done it, but I've heard that it can be done.

Actually, I finally tried playing it one last time and it worked.
I lost ALL of my saves, CC, and worlds, but at least it's working.
