Hot Tub on a Roof
« on: June 28, 2012, 02:58:26 PM »
I'll bet this has a simple answer, but how do you place a hot tub on the roof of a home without the construction coming through underneath into the room below it? I've tried placing it on a foundation but the construction just goes through the foundation and into the floor below anyway. I've tried the moveobjects on cheat and, of course, deleting it doesn't work. I've seen and downloaded builds before with rooftop hot tubs that have no construction underneath so I'd love to know how to do it please! Thank you. :)

After placing the hot tub using the moveobjects on cheat and and using the hand tool to grab the construction under the hot tub and then hitting the delete key should work.
I just went in the game and tested it before posting sense it had been awhile sense I had done it and wanted to make sure it still worked.
A clear conscience is usually a sign of a bad memory.

That's odd, I find that a hot tub placed on a frieze with moveobjects on won't protrude into the floor below   ???. The machinery takes up space inside the frieze instead.

Ausette, that's a beautiful use of friezes. I may have to use that myself some time. Thanks for the inspiration!

Thanks, lvrugger  ;D! I was trying to recreate the aboveground hot tubs from The Sims 2. I'm so happy to hear I inspired you.  :)

I've learned something new too.  :D

Have you tried out the hot tub Ausette? In the past when putting hot tubs in small spaces I've had trouble with having them the right way round, I think but I'm not 100% sure, that the one in your picture is the wrong way round as the lower sides, like the ones with your candles aren't the sides they get in on. Could you confirm?

Oh, I think I had only tried it with the small platform! I'm such a ditz. :P Either that or I didn't do the moveobjects on cheat that time. I rather like it with the foundation, even more, I reckon I'll do it with the foundation if I can fit the stairs on the roof with all the other things. Thank you, Ausette! :D

Whoops! You're right Decima, I had the hot tub the wrong way around after all. It works if you rotate it ninety degrees, though.

This doesn't work for me. When I try that it says "Nothing to grab"

What works for me is, testingcheatsenabled on then Using the hand tool Control-Shift-Click on the hot tub's guts and select "Delete it" from the options that pop up.

I also occasionally use this method to make shelving by placing a counter and then Control-Shift-Click "delete it" on the cabinet underneath to delete the cabinet with out deleting the counter it's self.
