Babysitter Age-up Issues
« on: June 28, 2012, 12:02:12 PM »
In the course of Sim events, it comes occasionally that the only eligible girl your heir's age is a babysitter and you'd rather things go smoothly... This, of course, seems to be unlikely due to her profession. For the time being, she has not displayed any age-up shenanigans, and is the age I need her to be at the moment.

Here is my question: if I get her to move in right now, will this allow me to avoid babysitter aging nonsense? Is there any way to prevent such things, or am I going to have to be on the edge of my seat until its marriage time?

If you can move her in, go ahead and do so.  Once she is moved in, then her age normalizes to what it should be for a Sim like all the Sims in your house.  The hardest part with babysitters and newspaper deliverers is that they look young adult but they're really adult and 4 days away from being elder sometimes.

...also, don't be surprised if she ages up between you issuing the invitation and her actually appearing on your doorstep. For what it's worth, I've had better luck with babysitters than newspaper deliverers. Fingers crossed for you!

If it doesn't work, try hiring maids and repair technicians and having pizza delivered, in hopes that some other NPC will suffice? Also read the newspaper to keep an eye out for new people moving in.

(Rica, there's a quick way to check what age a sim actually is - start the "Throw A Party" process, and it'll give the actual age category in the list of potential guests. Then cancel the party unthrown, unless you actually wanted to have a party... won't tell you how many days they have left, but it'll at least let you make sure you've got a YA instead of an adult.)

My was teenager is going out with a babysitter, she's aged to young adult, he hasnt I've been waiting a few days to see if he ages up, is it likely he won't age up? I don't know wether to break up with him and find someone else

He'll almost certainly age up eventually. Keep inviting him over to see if you can poke the game to make it happen - but keep your options open. In my first Dynasty attempt, I had someone who was a teenager at one heir's YA birthday party, was still a teenager a game week later, and then was older than she was when I moved him into the house...and this wasn't even a babysitter, it was just a "homeless townie"...

Ok thanks, if he's not aged when she's nearly adult I'll look elsewhere, I hope he does cos he's cute lol.
