Far from where where most people lived, there stood a quiet town named Sunset Valley. It was known for it's peace and quiet, which the inhabitants cherished.
On the beachside of town lived a wealthy man by the name of Gobias Koffi.

Gobias was a simple man, unlike the rest of his family. His family, extending much further past just his parents and siblings, were all ambitious people; the kind of people that changed the world.
But Gobias wasn’t like them. He sought peace and solitude. Never did he once wonder what it would be like to climb the ranks of a high paying profession. Never once did he wonder what love was like; nor did he wonder what it’d be like to have a family of his own. He was simply Gobias… until one day, everything changed.

Gobias had always had a crush on Jamie. He thought she was incredible – she was smart, beautiful and friendly. Yet, he never had the courage to ever talk to her; she didn’t even know his name.

On his trip to buy groceries, he noticed Jamie out of the corner of his eye. Her deep blue eyes seemed to reach into his very soul. He watched her, wishing, hoping. If only he could make her become his.

Suddenly, a realisation washed over him. It wasn’t that she wasn’t seeing him – it was that he’d never let himself be seen. He’d always hidden behind his grey, balding hair, his thick glasses, and his outfits that suited a decade that was long gone.
It was then he knew what he needed – he needed a change. He needed to show the world the real Gobias. He needed to aspire to make something of his life. And the one thing that his heart was set on was making Jamie his wife.

Gobias headed over to the saloon. He’d never set foot in the building, despite having lived in Sunset Valley for many years.
“What can we do for you, sir?” asked the man behind the counter.
Gobias stuttered, unsure of the words he wanted to say. “I.. I want to.. just.. I want to be me.”
The stylist smiled, and began questioning Gobias, showing off his massive portfolio he’d developed over the years.

After what seemed like hours of an overwhelming process, Gobias had finally decided on a look. When he saw himself in the mirror, he was stunned. He never once thought he could look this good.

Gobias inhaled deeply. He questioned why he’d never left his comfort zone before. He questioned why he wanted to live as a lonely man with no ambitions.
He decided that as of that day, he would try. He would just try.
And step one of trying involved one main ingredient: Jamie Jolina.

Gobias stepped into his car, still inhaling deeply. “I can do this” he repeated over, and over, in his head.
He knew where he had to go. The theatre was one of Jamie’s favourite places in the afternoon – he’d often seen her out the front, giggling with friends, as he’d made his way to the grocery store.

Just as he’d predicted, he found Jamie at the theatre. “No regrets.. this is my new life..” he said to soothe the nerves that were building up inside of him.
As though in a trance, he took the few steps to close the gap between himself and Jamie.

Gobias had never been one for social interaction, so he spilled out whatever he thought may sound charming. Although his words came out smooth, he could tell that his facial expression said otherwise. He was able to hide the tremor in his voice, but he could not stop the shakes from within his body.

As though she didn’t notice the shakes at all, Jamie laughed, and launched into a full-on conversation. At that moment, Gobias was thankful that he’d fallen for someone so warm-hearted.

The conversation carried on into the night, with each minute passing making it easier and easier for Gobias to be himself. He’d felt like this day had changed the way he viewed life.
Taking another deep breath, he decided to move a step forward. “Would you, um, like you come over to my, um.. house?”

“Of course!” Jamie laughed, reminding Gobias of how easy it really was to be with her.

When they arrived at his house, Gobias realised neither of them had eaten in hours. Panicking, he grabbed out the only ingredients from his fridge – tofu dogs.
Hoping that Jamie wasn’t much of a cook herself, he dived into preparing the tofu dogs. He hoped that the way he shook the salt made him look like he had at least the smallest idea of what he was doing.

He headed out to the barbeque to cook the tofu dogs, taking quick glances back to watch Jamie dancing inside. He smiled to himself; everything was going right, and all that needed for that to happen was to change his outlook on how life could be.

Gobias was so busy watching Jamie dance, that he forgot about the tofu dogs. He turned, and gulped. They were no longer tofu dogs, but more like charcoal dogs. He began wondering what he could say to Jamie. Surely charcoal dogs were not a way to impress someone.

As he run a million different things he could say through his heard, he heard Jamie call out that she had to leave for work. Although he didn’t want her to leave, he was glad she didn’t have to witness his poor attempt at cooking. “Tomorrow,” he said to himself, “tomorrow will be another chance”.

Thank you everyone - I'm so excited to be starting another dynasty! I'm finding this one to be a lot easier than the immortal dynasty. However, this one is going to be written completely different, as it's such a different challenge. It's actually a challenge in itself to write in third person because I'm so used to writing in first person.

I never knew he could look that good until the last challenge - I had a sim that was a stylist, and they styled Gobias. I was shocked!

Good luck with your decadynasty sweetie.I actually find the decadynasty harder then the immortal dynasty and I have no idea why. You are an amazing writer and I can't wait to see what happens next.

The next day Gobias left work feeling quite optimistic. Not only had he had a great day at work, finally making friends, but he knew that things with Jamie had started moving.

Instead of heading home, Gobias drove to Jamie’s house, hoping to catch her at home. He rang the doorbell, and stood at the door waiting. A few minutes passed,  leaving Gobias hoping that maybe she just didn’t hear the doorbell. He rang again, and stood waiting for another few minutes, but no such luck.

Gobias wondered what he should do. He didn’t want to miss any opportunity to see Jamie, but he didn’t want to be a weirdo by standing at her front door waiting for her to return home.
He looked around, wondering what he could do. Then an idea occurred to him: he crossed the road, and began to pretend to read in the Keaton’s front yard. He knew what he was doing was strange, bordering on creepy, but he’d hoped that if by chance Jamie did see him, she’d think that he’d been visiting Justine and Marty, and hadn’t been standing there waiting for her to arrive home.

Half an hour had passed as Gobias stood in the Keaton’s front yard, trying not to draw attention to himself, when Jamie finally turned up home. He wasted no time, putting his book away and crossing the road to her house. He calmed his nerves, telling himself that she’d think that the timing was coincidental.

From the conversation the day before, Gobias found talking to Jamie even easier than what he had previously felt. Their conversation went on for hours, as they developed their friendship.
Gobias looked into Jamie’s eyes, trying to assess the situation. Would it be weird if chucked in a flirtatious joke? Would she be creeped out?
“I told myself no holding back” Gobias thought to himself. He’d promised himself a changed life, and he’d promised himself that one day Jamie would be holding his hand in marriage.

With a small grin, Gobias began to flirt with Jamie. He was beyond excited when she began to flirt back, finding that they were both as flirty as each other.

The relationship was moving along so smoothly, that Gobias decided to take the plunge and ask Jamie if she’d want to start going steady.
“Jamie, I’ve been thinking… I know it’s only been a short amount of time, but -- ”
Jamie cut Gobias off, yelling “Oh no! Talking about time, it’s almost 7pm! I’m meant to be at the hospital to assist with a surgery in a few minutes!”
With that, Jamie ran out of the house, leaving Gobias staring after her wondering when he’d get his chance to ask her to be his.

Seeing as Jamie was no longer around, Gobias decided that he may as well head home.
Once he’d arrived home, he headed to his upstairs outdoors area. His bachelor pad was beautiful, that was for sure. The view was absolutely amazing and there was so much space. But none of that seemed to matter anymore, unless he had someone to share it with. And there was only one person he wanted to share it with.

Gobias called up his boss. He didn’t want to go into much of an explanation, but just requested he have two days off of work for personal reasons. Little did he mention that he just wanted those days off to pursue Jamie; to find a way to finally make her see that it was him that she should be with.

The next day, Gobias woke up relatively early. He knew that Jamie would have finished very early in the morning, so he decided to give her time to sleep. That time of waiting almost tore him apart. All he wanted was to call her then and there, and spend as much time with her as he could.

The clock hit 11am, and Gobias reached for the phone. Luckily for him, Jamie had been awake for the past hour, and was more than happy to come over.

Jamie was far from shy – when she’d arrived at Gobias’s house, she was already in his pool before he had reached the front door. But that was just one more thing that Gobias loved about Jamie: her impulsive, fun-loving personality.
Gobias jumped in with her, and the two of them spent hours splashing around and having contests to find who could hold their breath the longest.

After the two of them had hopped out of the pool, Jamie headed upstairs for a shower. Gobias wondered whether he’d be able to wait even longer to ask her to go steady with him; half the day had passed already.

Not wanting to waste another moment, he ran upstairs after Jamie.
“Jamie!” he panted, trying to catch his breath from running up the stairs. “Jamie.. I.. I..”.
Without even finishing his sentence, he leant in and kissed her.

The two of them pulled out of the kiss, smiling at one another. It was the most perfect moment that Gobias could have imagined: she felt the same.
“Jamie, I know this is really forward.. I know we haven’t really officially been going steady, but I can’t hold this back any more. I just can’t hold myself back. Jamie, I love you. I hope you love me.”
Gobias got down on one knee, and pulled a little box from his back pocket.
“Jamie Jolina, would you do me the honour of becoming my wife?”

Jamie gasped, as tears began to roll down her face.
“Gobias, I.. I can’t believe it,” she stammered. “I know it’s weird, because we’ve only known each other a short time, but there’s just something about you.. something that draws me in. Yes, I will. I will!”
As Gobias pulled Jamie into a loving hug, he knew that he’d made the best decision of his life a few days ago: the decision to change for him, and for his new life.

It's great to see another story Alexandria! I have a sweet spot for Gobias because I had my first ever sim marry him. :)
