Hey, everyone, I hope this is in the right place. I thought I'd start a thread where we could share the themes with which we name some of our Sim characters. Do you use themes or if not, do any of your Sims' names have a special meaning?
For example, most of us know about Pam's colour theme in her Dreamweaver Dynasty and her sweets-themed DecaDynasty. I always thought that was a clever idea. The colours resulted in wonderfully creative names and outfits.
Lots of us name our Sims after precious stones - I'm naming my current Dynasty heirs after gems which you can get in the game. An alphabet or number theme is also very popular, particularly for Dynasties.
I had a family once which had two sisters named Coppelia and Aurora - which are the names of two leads in famous ballets. I also had a family with an alphabet theme. When Aurora grew up, she married a young man named Clyde - so I just went the whole hog and called their children Ben, Darcia, Eve and Freddie. ABCDEF. If I hadn't lost that game I probably would have gone even further down the alphabet!
In my Merryweather Dynasty, there are several themes going on. The Immortals themselves are named after precious stones: Emerald, Topaz, Quartz, Lazuli and Amethyst, and their rooms are decorated accordingly. The Imaginary Friends are named after chocolate bars (and I came up with that idea before Pam's DecaDynasty began, I swear I didn't copy her) - Galaxy and Bounty.
Lazuli's horses didn't have a theme to begin with, but now I've started to name them after worlds in the popular Myst games. Presently we have Myst, Spire, Haven and Edanna, and somewhere down the line I'm hoping to use the names J'nanin, Serenia, Tomahna and Narayan.
Even the collectable pets have a theme. There are four turtles, their terrariums are coloured red, orange, purple and blue and their names are Raphael, Michelangelo, Donatello and Leonardo! There are also two lizards called Aladar and Neera.
So let's share our Sims' special name meanings and themes!
