Sims & Pets Name Themes

I name my sims months, for example: Apirl, June, Janurary. It's going to be great to name my sim the 'months' that they're born in, in seasons!

One file I had my cats named Ceiling and Basement Cat. I'd made them in CAS, so one was all black with red eyes and the other all while with blue. Their offspring? B2F, B1F, G, 1, 2... etc.

/shrug/ I'd run out of pet names by that point.

For my failed (well, bored to failure) Immortal Dynasty I used names of Heinlein characters, each generation from a separate book. The founder was Lazarus Long, the first generation kids (I had four) were from Stranger in a Strange Land. I tried to match names to lifetime goals, for example Manny (from The Moon is a Harsh Mistress) was an inventor and Colin (from the Cat Who Walks Through Walls) was a writer. I may do this again once I finish the current Immortal Dynasty. In the current one I am doing a self-sim Dynasty where each heir is given one of my nicknames and the traits and wishes are patterned after aspects of my life.

My failed Deca Dynasty (too many bugs after about 5 generations) was named after coastal cities around the world, in alphabetical order. The founders were Jake and Josephine Coastal in Barnacle Bay, first generation were all named after "A" coastal cities (Aberdeen), etc. I found some really cool names to use later on like Dalian (a Chinese city).

I don't really do themes, just chose names that portray the type of character I want them to be in a certain game, like:

I have a soft spot for naming my sims after nature inspired names or colours. Recently I did a Legacy where all the heirs were named after Spices.

I usually call Imaginary Friends names from favourite books/tv shows

There's a lot of interesting themes going on here!

For me, I tend to name them after my interest at the time. Pretty recently, it was U2, so I was naming my sims after albums (it gets a bit weird when you have people called War and Zooropa walking around, but hey - variety is the spice of life or so they say..) and now I'm running a legacy with a Norse Gods/Goddesses theme, but I skipped a couple of generations and started with Loki (Loke) as opposed to Ymir or Bor. Loki went on to have 5 children - Fenris, Hela, Jor, Narvi & Vali - and after that I just started naming them after other minor gods from the Eddas and myths.

I have a Marvel movie!verse kind of theme too. I find following a theme helps me to stick with a legacy for longer, probably cause I like the things they're named after so much

How about Ruth Less? It's certainly a real name and would be fit for any evil sim.

You know, sometimes I am having problems with sims showing their faces. Read: they do not show up at all. And that would be an excellent moment to call such a guy (or girl): Head Less.
Now all he need to have is a black horse and ride through town over graveyard at a full moon night.

I have my theme for RV (Carpathians-vampires) and SV (psy/Changlings -  psych and shifters who live in San Francisco area) and I was trying to think of something for SN.   The wilderness setting makes me think, for some reason, of Native Americans.  Also, the shapeshifters, on in this case the werewolves, are strong in Native Americans legends. 

So, I am going with that theme; Native Americans -- either names of tribes, using as much as possible the names in their native language.   I am also considering actual names, focusng on nature ones; animals, insects, due to the supernatural aspect.  Deer, wolf, butterfly and such for names of my sims.  Many are uni, so I can use a name such as Peta for either a male or female sim, as it means golden eagle.

I think it's english or american, but I'm not sure, and I don't trust baby naming sites for the origin of names( Yes, I end up going on baby naming sites all the time for ideas for naming sims.)  Well anyway, on to my idea. Naming them by different kinds of light, by that, I mean different periods of the day.  Example: Morning Light.  It's morning, light.  Get it?  Or something like, dark light.  Or maybe if you're feeling like being just plain weird, light light!

I believe its origin is Hebrew. It used to be a common girls' name, but it's not so common now.

I name my pets in my conlang, based on their appearance and whatnot, and also for Egyptian and Germanic Gods.

It's orgin is the country of Moab, from ancient times (present day I believe is in Jordan, where the Dead Sea is).  In the Bible it tells of a Hebrew family who left home due to famine. The family dies of an illness except the mother and her two D-I-L's.  One chose to return to her family, the other one, Ruth, chose to go with her M-I-L. 
Ruth is important to Christians for two reasons.  The famous line in Christian beliefs is (modernized): "where you go I will go, your people will be my people, your GOD will be my GOD".  Through her line is David and then on to Jesus.   

So, Ruth is a female name of Moab origin, but became an impotant name to Hebrews and then Christians, thus it popularity.

If I offend anyone on religious info I apologize.   I am giving facts from the Christian bible about the name of Ruth.  My personal beliefs, each person's religious beliefs, whatever they are, should be private.  Freedom of religion is the fundamental right of each peson of my home country, USA.  Again, I am sorry if I offended, that is not my goal. 


In the area of names, what about Care Less?  that could use fit some traits.
